BIOWARE, it's 2010, players should have a same-sex romance option.

Speaking of Liara, I suppose we see her something like five minutes in ME2 ?

That's my guess.  She's just a 'cameo' like Wrex and the others.

No, you actually help her out a little.

What is all this "don't force it" nonsense?

If Ashley had been a lesbian - would that have been "forcing" it? Is there anything about Ashley that says - this chick is STRAIGHT and if they made her a lesbian - wow, that really would have forced the issue.

Can that be said of any of the characters?

Or, is simply thier inclusion forced for some people? Because some people did get yet another romance catering to them - why was one of them taken away and forced into something they're not interested in.

Sorry to bust your bubbles - but there are gay pilots, and cooks, and captains, and soldiers, and mechanics, and anything else you can imagine - so there's no profession in the Mass Effect universe where you can say "Wow, that's so forced - no gay person would ever be able to do that job."

An inclusion of one romance - equal to all others provided - in no way could ever be forced any more than ALL elements of every story are forced.

... The idea of not forcing it had nothing to do with saying a gay person couldn't be a soldier or pilot or anything like that o_O... unless i'm missing what you're refering to...

Okay at the risk of sounding like a moron. Can anyone run me through doing that?

I know it's been said but it bares repeating.

play a gay/bi Shepard (M or F) all you want.

however, while I'm not sure about F/F, there are NO gay male characters on your team for you to "romance." That in NO WAY means you can't roleplay a gay shepard.

or in short..get over it. it's not in there. Accusing Bio of any kind of gay-hate or saying it isn't fair is idiotic. Be disappointed sure...but it stops there.

would I be disappointed if there were no M/F romances? sure...would I whine and complain about it (even if there was gay romances) no...no I wouldn't.

This is ridiculous

Thanks that made life easier.

^_^

Maybe it would make more of an impact if everyone who supported placed this in their sig?

Oh, sure, it lets you do that, but when I try that, the forum gives me the two finger salute.

I think a lot of folks on both sides are missing how this problem was caused in the first place. Its not a matter of 'adding' anything to the game, or going out of their way to put things in the game when they have 'other things to focus on' or whatever. The romance with SuZe is IN THE GAME. The romance with Tali is IN THE GAME. The only reason FemShep players can't play those romances isn't because of anything Bioware DIDNT do, its because of what they DID do. They ACTIVELY PREVENTED FemShep players from playing those romances through 'gender flags' settings, its literally Bioware telling the game 'Dont let FemShep players do this romance, only let MaleShep players do it'. If they hadn't gone out of their way to prevent FemShep players from doing the romance, we could do it, and we wouldn't be complaining right now, we'd be as happy as everybody else about the game. They didnt have to add anything, or change anything, or be inconvenienced for one split second. We weren't asking for them to do ANYTHING AT ALL. All we wanted was for them to NOT TAKE IT AWAY from us. Its as simple as that, and thats what makes the whole thing so frustrating.

Even now, having gone out of their way to prevent FemShep players from having ANY female romance options and upsetting their fans for absolutely no reason whatsoever, if they were to decide they wanted to correct their mistake it wouldn't require anything dramatic like DLC or a ton of time and effort or whatever, it would be as simple as a single Bioware employee going into the game and changing the 'gender flags' settings and putting the new settings out in a patch. The whole problem could probably be solved in an hour or so, maybe even less. People wouldn't even have to download the patch if they didnt want to, so everybody on all sides of the issue would be happy. To me, thats what makes this whole problem/protest/controversy so insane. There was no reason for Bioware to ever cause this problem in the first place, and even having done so it would be SO EASY for them to fix it. Why does there have to be over 60 pages of comments and debate and arguments and all the rest of it, when this never should've been an issue in the first place, and could be fixed so very easily?

Well, I'd rather my Shep not be confused for the opposite sex all the time, but I salute your patch argument for SuZe.  :)  It's ridiculous that Bioware make a bi/(experimental at least) character, then prohibit FemShep from romancing her.  It's like they want to shoehorn all Sheps into mandatory straightness (fanservice yeomans aside.  :pinched:).

And thanks, diskoh, for the sig!  :D

I think that the point is that those who desired F/F or M/M options in ME2 are letting their opinion be known. People who wanted a Garrus or Tali romance in ME1 were in this exact same position and they let their feelings be heard. Lo and behold when ME2 rolled around Bioware included those characters as LIs. Bioware listens to the community, and if they're not being rude or confrontational with their opinions there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be able to express them.

No one would have been mad if they had just included it. All this comes in to direct response to exclusion. Now, I carry the controversial opinion that Kelly might actually be okay, maybe kinda, and that, had they of stated that as her purpose, might have worked before. It's too late now.
