I think a lot of folks on both sides are missing how this problem was caused in the first place. Its not a matter of 'adding' anything to the game, or going out of their way to put things in the game when they have 'other things to focus on' or whatever. The romance with SuZe is IN THE GAME. The romance with Tali is IN THE GAME. The only reason FemShep players can't play those romances isn't because of anything Bioware DIDNT do, its because of what they DID do. They ACTIVELY PREVENTED FemShep players from playing those romances through 'gender flags' settings, its literally Bioware telling the game 'Dont let FemShep players do this romance, only let MaleShep players do it'. If they hadn't gone out of their way to prevent FemShep players from doing the romance, we could do it, and we wouldn't be complaining right now, we'd be as happy as everybody else about the game. They didnt have to add anything, or change anything, or be inconvenienced for one split second. We weren't asking for them to do ANYTHING AT ALL. All we wanted was for them to NOT TAKE IT AWAY from us. Its as simple as that, and thats what makes the whole thing so frustrating.
Even now, having gone out of their way to prevent FemShep players from having ANY female romance options and upsetting their fans for absolutely no reason whatsoever, if they were to decide they wanted to correct their mistake it wouldn't require anything dramatic like DLC or a ton of time and effort or whatever, it would be as simple as a single Bioware employee going into the game and changing the 'gender flags' settings and putting the new settings out in a patch. The whole problem could probably be solved in an hour or so, maybe even less. People wouldn't even have to download the patch if they didnt want to, so everybody on all sides of the issue would be happy. To me, thats what makes this whole problem/protest/controversy so insane. There was no reason for Bioware to ever cause this problem in the first place, and even having done so it would be SO EASY for them to fix it. Why does there have to be over 60 pages of comments and debate and arguments and all the rest of it, when this never should've been an issue in the first place, and could be fixed so very easily?
Ack, no, I don't want NPCs sexual identities to flip flop around depending on the PCs preference. It is cool to have gay/lesbian/or bi characters but the gender flags show the characters preference and add a layer of realism to the character.
Anywho, I have a question for everyone, if you had to pick 1 character to be bi/gay/lesbian who would it be and why?
