BIOWARE, it's 2010, players should have a same-sex romance option.

I do wonder why people tend to have something against same-sex relationships within video games. (Unless it's lesbians, because that's politically safe for some reason)

I guess it has something to do with being accepted by the ESRB; this is just a guess, really. Would I want there to be the option of same-sex relationships in a game? ...I wouldn't really be able to say. Most video game characters developed are absolutely fugly, and I think I might need therapy if they were placed in a sexual situation...

Would there be an option in later games? I have no idea; but if you've ever played Dragon Age: Origins, Zevran will engage in sexual relations with you, regardless of gender. Hell, he'll even ask for a threesome, or a foursome, if your relationship is high enough with others. If you want a game with same-sex relationships...go play Fable.

Seeing as they had one in the first one I could see it as a valid assumption.

If you consider material that was deliberately removed from the game as being 'in the game', sure.

Liara x FemShep is IN THE GAME >_>

Jeez.

And don't give me this "asari are asexual crap." because in that case she wouldn't be sleeping with ANYONE.

Honestly everytime I hear that I get a little ticked off. They have breasts, birth their young and look like women, F!Shep being attracted to them makes her bisexual at least. Just like if M!Shep was attracted to a male alien with a pen!s, could not birth young and looked similar to a human man he'd be bisexual at least. >_>

Out of curiousity since I can't seem to recall any, has bioware ever done a character that was a same sex li, but wasn't bi. Like only available through same sex romance options?

No, I don't think they have.

The closest I have seen would be Leliani. I romanced her with both a male and female character but she definitely preferred women. Couldn't stop talking about them.  Zevran on the other hand leaned more towards straightness. I liked both npcs a lot.  Bioware did a wonderful job with their personalities.

*sigh* Leliana

Personally I have no problem with same sex relationships but as I said earlier, Bioware has only had three games that have had gay or bi characters so there is no reason ME2 should. Juhani in KotOR was a lesbian, Zevran and Leliana were bi in DA:O and I guess someone in Jade Empire but never played it myself. Asari are not female, even though they may look it, so femShep's relationship with Liara was just as straight as male Shepards.

Fable has relationships in the way that high school cafeterias have food.

If Liara didn't look exactly like a human female (minus the "hairstyle"), you'd have a point. Guess what...

Um...NO. If you're attracted to a 18 year old that looks like a 12 year old you'd still be seen as having an attraction to little kids. Regardless if the person was over age or not.

I was going for obvious homosexual relationships.

Not pansexual binding female copout/human female relationships.

Indeed, Liara and FemShep was not just 'in the game' in ME1, its pretty much THE reason a lot of people heard about, and then bought, the game. Which makes it extra strange that Bioware is suddenly scared of f/f romance now, it makes absolutely no sense to me.

It is an obvious homosexual female relationship. It didn't turn into a copout until that stupid interview.

Which was facepalm worthy. "Well we pratically modeled the whole race after human females, call them by female gender pronouns but they're not WOMEN!!!! There's no GAYS in the GAME!!!"

*headdesk*

Edit: I never said Liara was lesbian but F!Shep maybe is for being attracted to Liara.

So if there was a male-looking version of the Asari, you would feel perfectly straight romancing that male-looking alien who says his race doesn't have a gender?   Ha....

That argument is more flawed then the "Liara is a lesbian" one. What she is our is not is unimportant. Her species original purpose was to be a safe way to include lesbian content in the game, just like the drell were specifically created to be a femshep malien romance.

Thanks for your opinion. However I would like to point out that in my game, someone needs to tell me how Shepard turned spontaneously straight.

That's completely untrue though... I think there should be options in the game, but the fact that there aren't doesnt' suddenly make your shepard straight. That's like a gay person only knowing straight people and just saying ah f*** it, i'm straight now because I can't find a gay person to love me back. The fact that you can't pursue same sex relationships says more about your companions than it does about your shepard.

Asari are pansexuals, which means they're excluding males from having a 'homosexual' relationship.
(Is a relationship between a pansexual and a homosexual a homosexual relationship only?)

Which means BioWare is being sexist, not homophobic. So much better.

I am trying to make the female shepard look like a man but there is no option to add facial hair. Tat is just plain racist. Where is MTV when we need them.
