BIOWARE, it's 2010, players should have a same-sex romance option.

Liara x FemShep is IN THE GAME >_>

Jeez.

And don't give me this "asari are asexual crap." because in that case she wouldn't be sleeping with ANYONE.

I was going for obvious homosexual relationships.

Not pansexual binding female copout/human female relationships.

It is an obvious homosexual female relationship. It didn't turn into a copout until that stupid interview.

Which was facepalm worthy. "Well we pratically modeled the whole race after human females, call them by female gender pronouns but they're not WOMEN!!!! There's no GAYS in the GAME!!!"

*headdesk*

Edit: I never said Liara was lesbian but F!Shep maybe is for being attracted to Liara.

Asari are pansexuals, which means they're excluding males from having a 'homosexual' relationship.
(Is a relationship between a pansexual and a homosexual a homosexual relationship only?)

Which means BioWare is being sexist, not homophobic. So much better.

I thought Asari were a monogendered race?

It would be homosexual on the side of the nonpansexual in any case. >_>

The 18 year old that looks like they're 12. You wouldn't call that person attracted them attracted to them as an 18 year old would you?

At this rate its starting to get a mixture of both. >_> Bah bloody Asari. Why the heck do they even exist? Its like they serve to annoy the **** out of me. <_< Who the heck designed them anyways? I'm all for alien spacebabes but at least put in some alien spacedudes to even the scales.

BioWare was out to annoy the **** out of us when they put them in the game. I agree. :pinched:

Out of curiousity since I can't seem to recall any, has bioware ever done a character that was a same sex li, but wasn't bi. Like only available through same sex romance options?

No, I don't think they have.

The closest I have seen would be Leliani. I romanced her with both a male and female character but she definitely preferred women. Couldn't stop talking about them.  Zevran on the other hand leaned more towards straightness. I liked both npcs a lot.  Bioware did a wonderful job with their personalities.

*sigh* Leliana

There should only be same sex romance options if in fact the NPCs you can have romances with are gay or lesbians. Regardless of what you think should be, not everyone is homosexual or have homosexual tendencies. In fact only 2% in a given mammalian species are homosexual or show homosexual tendencies.

I am in support if it makes sense for story wise and it fits the setting.  Placing homosexual romances for the sake of just having a homosexual romance but otherwise does not fit in the story or themes of the game I do not support.

Exactly

Shepard can be gay if you want him to be, but if none of the characters are gay then there won't be any same-sex romance.

I can just imagine a 14-year-old child choosing dialogue options at random to progress through the story line and get back into combat as soon as possible. He makes a series of blind choices eventuating in a cutscene  showing Garrus and Male Shepard having gay alien sex in the back of the Hovertank. Shattered youth. . .

Then the 14 year old shouldn't have been playing a game rated M. :? And that wouldn't shatter their youth any more then the mass killing you actually do in game. :wizard:

you gotta remember what happened with the Media after ME 1

We ranted about it and Adam Sessler publicly humiliated the chick? What are you getting at? Bioware has done M/M and F/F romances before. Like, in Dragon Age. Image IPB

And the whole thing wasn't about the lesbian sex. It was about the completely untrue claims that an apparently "respected" person had made, and they were going on about the game as if it was the greatest sin unleashed upon Man. It was quickly covered up as it surfaced that the woman who made the claims hadn't actually played the game, and as such was going by the word of someone else. Nothing more than your typical media scaremongering, it happens all the time.
Still think there should be a *decent* homosexual romance. Sorry, BioWare, but romance or fling, Kelly Chambers does not count. From everything I've seen it looks as satisfying as putting my finger in my ear. As it's been said time and time before, it makes no sense for there not to be a homosexual relationship from the start, and whilst most of us would pay the sub-$10 most DLC costs for one, it's not overly correct that we should do. But hey, you're the bosses, right?

Some people really should try some japanese 'dating' games.

I don't know why nowadays eveyone is obsessed with sexuality in games.

First you want romance, then sex, later same gender sex and in the futere the crowd will be upset

if there isn't a sado maso sex option in game, because you know, that's pretty discriminating against people who are into these things :).

On the spoiler board, there is a thread about Kasumi.

The character is supposedly mentioned in a newsreport on one of the worlds.

The character's gender, race, and profession is mentioned.

Being vague here to avoid an excuse for the devs to zot this thread for spoilers, but you can go check there if you are interested.

Still cant believe you guys are still at this..... the game is done and theres not going to be any gay dlc either just live with it. Bioware is not against having gay li's in their games they just did it with DAO but that game was the first in the series ME2 is the second and they already have a story path they have to follow. You can argue all day about how Shepard can turn spontaneously gay any moment... any good writer wouldn't do that because it doesnt make for a good cohesive story. In the end you guys need to thank BioWare for putting any real romance options at all in their games I really cant think of any other developer that has put as much effort into that area of gaming.

Thanks for your opinion. However I would like to point out that in my game, someone needs to tell me how Shepard turned spontaneously straight.

Its not your game its BioWares your just along for the ride Image IPB

Actually Bioware's whole marketing schema has been that you make your own Shep.

I suppose it would've been interesting to have that option, BUT...

I was always under the impression that you're playing an established character rather than role-playing a character of your own creation. Dragon Age is more in-line with actually role-playing your character to however you wish him/her to be, up to and including sexual preference (the option for homosexual relationships is there),

As has been mentioned, Asari are... asexual? Bisexual? Nonsexual? They adapt to however the attracted species copulates, so I'm not sure if that strictly counts as "homosexual".

Just my opinion. Given that this is the sequel, I think asking for a homosexual relationship is too late in the game (pun intended). If you want gay relationships, may I suggest Dragon Age?

The general assumption is that the asari are a pansexual, monogendered race. But from an asari's point of view, they aren't gay if they sleep with a woman. However, if FemShep sleeps with and is sexually attracted to a woman-shaped being, then FemShep is gay, or at the least bi. FemShep in the dialouge refers to Liara as a woman several times, meaning she believes Liara is a woman, or female, so any attraction to Liara would be a homosexual one.

It's hardly fair for females to be given the option to be gay while males are left out in the cold.

Beyond this, Bioware's entire add campaign revolves around this being YOUR shepard, yes she is more established then your rags to killing darkspawn character in DAO, but she's still yours to do with as you please.

Except it's not gay.  Did anyone pay attention to Liara's dialogue about her species?  They are monogendered, so the words "male" and "female" have no meaning.  Likely the Asari got use to the idea of being referred to with feminine gender pronouns for simplicity's sake, rather than correcting everyone all the time.  FemShep sleeping with Liara doesn't make FemShep gay...it makes her a...uhhh...is there a name for a sexual orientation in which you sleep with aliens? :P

Either way, it's technically not a f/f relationship, which is what Bioware was saying this entire time.  Why everyone thinks Bioware is trying to trick you into thinking they've pulled a fast one is beyond me.

Now, as a gay man myself, I was a touch disappointed, but honestly I can accept that not every game will have the desired relationships I want when the options are laid out on the table.  So I'm perfectly willing to go with a proxy instead (FemShep/Garrus) and live out my desired fantasy vicariously through alternate means.

FemShep with Liara, as Liara looks like a female, a good-looking woman in fact, makes her a lesbian (or a bisexual gal (or a very curious hetero... anyway, it's homosexuality)). They can say wathever they want, that won't change that fact. Image IPB

The Asari are referred to as female in the game, and not just by FemShep, they're an all female race. Its not hard to figure out either, you just have to look at them, and even with your eyes closed you can listen to them. All signs point in the same direction :) . The idea of one of the devs trying to say that Liara isn't female, and so therefore its OK to totally discriminate against FemShep players in ME2 because 'really, we were discriminating against you in ME1 too, you just thought we werent' is just insane on so many levels. They can pretend whatever they want, and really if you can fool somebody into thinking that Liara, or any other Asari, is anything other than female (totally aside from the fact that the game EXPLICTLY calls the Asari an all female race) then there's really something wrong with the way that person thinks. Its just WAY too obvious for any sane person to mistake Liara for anything other than a female :) .

If I do remember correctly, the codex says that "Asari only have one gender", "Asari are all sexually female".

I'll trust that.

Real quick...all I have to say is that the option should be there for m/m and f/f. I'm kinda disappointed that there is no f/f option in this game from what I can see. Considering what you can do relationship wise in DA:O...it just doesn't make sense to me.

And for all the haters...if you ain't into it...ignore it. M/M Shep action would freak me out...but it doesn't mean other players who want it should be denied it.

Said youth learned a valuable lesson that day, well two actually but anyway.  He learned to read the little glyphs on the screen, for they impart wisdom.  He also learned to pay attention, as that avoids accidental gay sex. =]
