And suddenly the romances seem petty, unless any of you have such strong resolve. I commend anybody who has the will to NOT buy this game because they feel so strongly about the homosexual relations.
We like the game. We like the universe, the characters, the missions, the story, the lore, the company, everything! If we were not fans of the game, we would not care about this. This is not about latching on to one aspect of the game that is a "make it or break it" thing for us, but about making a game that we like better. Mass Effect is a series that is built on giving the player choices; having more choices makes the game better. That's what the Tali fans were all about; making the game better. That's what the people who hated the Mako were about; making the game better. That's what the people who wanted more Joker content were about; making the game better. And we aren't even asking to be part of the shipped game, only a small DLC that anyone can ignore.
You don't turn your back on something you like just because you are thrilled about one thing in it. If you can, then you didn't really like it in the first place.
I can see your point here, but again, if BioWare is going to continue getting your money regardless of what they choose to include or exclude from a game, what's the incentive for them to actually use the resources to add whatever it is you're campaigning for? Money speaks a lot louder than threads on a message board.

The closest I have seen would be Leliani. I romanced her with both a male and female character but she definitely preferred women.

If I do remember correctly, the codex says that "Asari only have one gender", "Asari are all sexually female".
I'll trust that.

I didn't get that impression at all. Apparently, Leliana is easier to romance if your PC is male, and she doesn't even talk about her bisexuality, unlike Zevran..
Leliana talks about her love for Marjolaine, but if you consider the context of that sentence, it could easily be construed as platonic rather than romantic love due to her using the words "mentor" and "dear friend" to describe Marjolaine.

Which is why we're disappointed with ME2 now that we have our "dirty dozen" where including two bisexual characters wouldn't be so strained.brgillespie wrote...
Perhaps it was the critique regarding the absence of male-male relationships in ME1 that lead the Dragon Age team to offer multiple sexuality options in their game.
I don't believe ME1 offers ANY homosexual relationships. Liara, while "female", is an alien. Technically, a relationship with her is neither hetero- or homosexual, but "xenosexual", it that's even a term.
From a design standpoint, for there to be true homosexual relationships it would've detracted from the romance subplot. For there to be the possibility of homosexual relationships, then:
- Kaidan would've had to been gay, eliminating a female character's romance subplot.
- Ashley would've had to been gay, eliminating a male character's romance subplot.
If the option existed for Kaidan/Ashley to facilitate both male AND female character's romance subplots, then both would've been classified as "bisexual", which is a bit of a copout and a bit of a strain on the cast's credibility. Two bisexual humans on your crew?
The alternative would've been to create two new human characters that existed solely for the purposes of a homosexual relationship.
Of course, the Asari could've been made to be "sexually male", but I think that conflicts with the idea of a race that adapts to any other species' mating habits (the idea of adaptation lends itself towards a "receptive/submissive" concept rather than a male "dominance/assertive" concept).
Just my opinion, of course.

So I guess people are busy playing the game right now?

Are you kidding? When has controversy ever HURT sales? Every time I hear of some group or media outlet start complaining about the offensive content of some game/movie/book the sales tend to spike upwards not down.People like to go and see what all the ****ing is about.Scharfschutzen wrote...
The game has already gone gold. Why are you guys complaining? The number of people who are weirded out by homosexuals will make a racket and diatribe about this game, hurting sales. It's a marketing choice. They're trying to avoid controversy.
It's not really a romance though...conglomerator wrote...
Female Shepards in ME2 can romance Kelly Chambers. Not sure about male Shepards, since I romanced :wub:Tali:wub: on my second playthrough

yeah... this made me sad. DA got me all excited for a potential male love interest for my Shep.
It's especially sad now that there are 7 potential partners.
I'd gladly trade Zaeed (who I haven't even gotten around to finding yet) for a gay downloadable character.
Plus a DLC addition could be ignored by that annoying part of the population who would want to throw a hissyfit over gay romance. win win situation bioware!
