And we're whining now.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

This is usually not such a big topic for me. While I'd enjoy a romantic storyline that didn't have to do with a bunch of Romeo and Juliet types - I can live without it. As I've stated before - my Shepard is a loner, gay, badass. Like Hendel from the books.

With all the lockdowns - I'm a little irritated. If it were really about "keeping the peace" then bigots should be banned - instead, people asking to be recognized through a video game they are paying for - are being marginalized.

Bioware - you're a great company. I will support you and your games because they are quality. But, if you want me to keep buying your products (and that's up to you) then as a consumer I suggest:

--- You no longer declare any further characters as "yours". I'm buying your product. The game - is mine. The character - becomes mine. I've read time and again how "You become Shepard and decide the fate of the universe." Well, in no universe do I EVER want to be straight.

So, please state clearly any future games you intend to be forcing a static mode of play. I will steer clear of those. As it is, I enjoy Shepard - and I'll play him without a significant amount of game content. But, I'll be sure not to enjoy future characters and storylines that have nothing to do with me.

I'm still confused where Shepard's sexual orientation has become what defines him. I'm a straight man, and even if BioWare designed Shephard to be a completely homosexual character with all of the romance scenarios to go along with it I wouldn't care a single bit. When I played the original Mass Effect the romance aspects of it were so insignifcant in the grand scope of the entire story that I could have cared less about them. It's really sad that you would allow something so small and petty to ruin your gameplay experience.

in my head just the option of shep to be gay would lesson my level of respect for the character.  in my head my shep is alot of things, he can be deep, ruthless, kind, brave, and so on, but one thing my shep is absolutly not is gay. even the possiblitly to be gay would turn me off to the series and bioware in a big way.  nuthings wrong if YOU wanna be gay, just dont include it in MY mass effect.

MassFrost -

Then you didn't read my entire post - I stated plainly that I will be purchasing ME 2.

In other posts I have stated that I will be purchasing ME 3, and any ME books. I enjoy them.

I also stated in that post that the romantic story does not carry a huge impact on the game for me. However, that does not mean that it should not be available. These boards are sworming this X-mance and Y-mance. It may not be relevant to you - but it is relevant to A LOT of people and these forums show that clearly.

Should I not care about a romantic story plot because you don't care about one that involves other types of people?

By your own admission - you get story plots geared toward what you identify with, if you want them. I could suggest you take them for granted since the world always caters to a majority (and rightfully so, I won't argue that.) Please - don't diminish someone elses right to be represented because you're already taken care of.

Becuase it's not small, sure it doesn't have a huge impact on the story, but ME2 isn't about the story, going by the reviews, it's about the characters. Having a romantic interaction with these characters increases immersion and overall pleasure in the game, that's why they're included at all. It's not about whether or not shepard is gay, because every player gets to decide that, there is no "canon" shepard, it's about Bioware eliminating a piece of gameplay that was already present in ME1 and the company's other games.

Ok I dont really care if there is a gay romance option, but Im against gayness (but not gay people Image IPB). It wont bother me tho, if they want it then I wont complain if they get it, I just dont think they should get upset if it isnt. And also, I find it really funny when people say the year claiming that it is a good reason for something to happen out of some sense of progressivism.

If people like you would stop coming here making trouble there would have only been 1.

I wonder if you get a paragon interrupt to run up and give Liara a hug and a kiss.

*shrug* This is the first one I've ever posted in. If you feel like checking the 1.000 previous threads, you can confirm it.

That's your opinion.  For many of us it certainly wasn't a small part of our enjoyment of the game.

Only two Bioware games that I can think of have had gay/bi characters. Juhani in KotOR was a lesbian and Leliana and Zevran in DA:O were bi, two games is no reason that Mass Effect 2 should have them too. Asari are not females, they may look like it but they are not, fantasize all you like but femShep and Liara was not a lesbian thing. Liara and femShep had just as straight a relationship as male Shep and Liara.

EDIT: I should add that I don't recall being hositle either.

I'm really disappointed that Bioware went the Discount Lesbians route with Asari. Frankly that's pathetic. Either fess up that its F/F or not include it period. >_>

Kind of glad I decide to brave the forums this one time...

What the majority, in fact I would go as far to say all, of the pro-same sex romance fans want is a DLC that has the option. A simple, free to ignore DLC. That would allow people who want this for their Shepard to have it while not exposing it to people who prefer a straight Shepard. It's a way to please everyone. Before it is mentioned, this would not eat away time and resources that could be spent on another DLC; near everything for it is already in the game.

As for the fact that these threads do pop up a lot, it wouldn't if they did not keep getting locked down. Coming in here and complaining, flaming, trolling, whining at supporters for same-sex romances will only get this one locked down while another one takes it place. Being constructive and non-combatant will keep one of these threads alive and thus, the only thread on the subject. If you don't want to deal with it, ignore it, as other ignore the Tali threads or the Ammo threads, etc.

And Asari are female. They have no gender, true, but they have a sex. Which is female. It is in the game, in the lore, and clear as water.

And suddenly the romances seem petty, unless any of you have such strong resolve.  I commend anybody who has the will to NOT buy this game because they feel so strongly about the homosexual relations.

Handheld thinks these threads are now becoming irritating.

Handheld personally thinks people are just doing this to be an irritant now Handheld also thinks enough is enough Handheld has reported this thread as there is at least one of these on every page.
