I did once, with a lady Cousland who was going to marry Alistair.

Can't say I cared for it (although that might be my dislike of the Couslands in that game) and haven't been arsed to carry that story over. I made a Dalish Elf with the default background- I think the Warden is dead? Can't remember, I'm only about forty hours into that game.

Depending on the playthrough... I've had the Warden/Alistair/Loghain die, or everybody lives, or Loghain dies.

No one in mine. My female Amell who romanced Alistair, refused to be his mistress and made Alistair rule with Anora. Also, she spared Loghain who did the DR with Morrigan, so he can die in DAI and my female mage Hawke can live and reunite with her Templar brother Carver and lover Fenris.

It seems a Dalish female is the default in DAO, but when I first bought DA2, it said a male Cousland, who didn't die, was the default HOF.

I have never made the Ultimate Sacrifice. What can I say, I love life. Plus all the bonuses that come afterwards.

I did twice.  One Dalish Warden and one Cousland Warden.

I did it once. Just for the sake of getting the Ultimate Sacrifice trophy on ps3. I believe the Redeemer ending or just having Loghain live, is the "perfect" ending.

I did on my first playthrough, actually it was Alistair who died because I took him with me on the final battle. So I reloaded and left Alistair at the gates. It was unbearable to watch him die.

On my second playthrough, I had Alistair DRed with Morrigan, it hurt like hell to do so. But I wanted to rule alongside Alistair, and have that happy ending. Its not perfect, but I'm happy.

Two of my Wardens made the ultimate sacrifice themselves, and two others got Alistair/Loghain to do it. The other four did the ritual. (Or got Alistair/Loghain to do it.)

My first character tried to. She'd romanced Alistair, but they had to break up so he could become king with Anora. It seemed the most heroic way to end this story for my city elf rogue. And then Alistair jumped in and killed the archdemon, because he couldn't bear the thought of her dying.

I was both angry and impressed with the game.

Only did the US once in 17+ playthroughs.   It was worth seeing, but I strongly prefer the Dark Ritual route.

I played all possibilities I could find.

My favorite solution was; Alistair & Anora Political Union, Loghain-Warden dies, Morrigan/Elf Warden romance and pregs with human child, step thru the eluvian with growing family.

With that said my first playthru for DAI was with a keep state where as many characters were dead or not born as possible, including PCs.

intelligent solution, however i have decided to use Alistair because otherwise my wife Anora would have used her father epic death for her political advantage.

I wonder, the US doesn't harm the Warden in anyway because the player are free to play the DLC and DAA without problem ,and when the fake "death" is recognized in DAII and DAI is too late, in the sense that even a Warden who are "alive" technically are dead and cannot reappear anymore,so in the end it doesn't matter, because if the developers have justified themselves with Leliana, players can do the same for the warden retcon.
the truth is that the Ultimate sacrifice does not exist, because lack in consequences for player agency (it's fair everyone have the right to play the DLC),aside from codex or little reference in DAI

She certainly is sneaky like that, her betrayal if the PC does not commit to a political union is all the evidence needed there. However in the political union scenario I rationalized she knew she had the throne and the public adoration with both a heroic and bloodlined king plus now her father got to afford his life an arguable position of redemption even in the eyes of those that saw him as corrupt.

As for Alistair being grumpy about it, he got over it when he saw the variety of cheeses available to the monarchy.

the only one who lost in your world state is the Archdemon, it seems fair.

As for being able to import a US Warden to Awakening, I believe that has more to do with how the programming is written than anything. It is akin, I believe, to being able to cut off Leliana's head in battle... it's part of the programming/animation being overlooked in relation to the story being told. I do think it's fair to point it out however. Also the Leliana betrayal probably should have been a murder knife cutscene if the plan was to use mystical stuff to further her storyline. Not that being knifed, dead dead dead and then being brought back mystically is any different than head gone, dead dead dead and brought back mystically. It's not Highlander afterall, that mystical rule of death obviously isn't part of Dragon Age.

Three of my Wardens did the Ultimate sacrifice. One had Loghain sacrifice himself, one had Alistair sacrifice himself (I cried the entire time, so there is no way I am going to handwave that ending away), two had Loghain do the Dark Ritual with Morrigan (one where Alistair was king with Anora, one where he became a wandering drunk), and three had Alistair doing the Dark Ritual with Morrigan, and two had the Warden doing the Dark Ritual with Morrigan.

The only world state I *don't* have is a Warden who romanced Morrigan but who didn't do the Dark Ritual, but after 12 playthroughs, I'd had enough of Origins.

IIRC I had 3 DAO playthroughs, 2 died and 1 slept with Morrigan. The dying part is canon for me.

I beg to differ. I could still feel my eyebags being totally bloated from crying when that Theirin jerk killed himself instead of my dumped elf, because I did not know better. That was about just over a year ago. I still felt that scene keenly all the way through Awakening. The god baby was not the only consequence for me when talking about US.

In my canon my warden's still alive, didn't wanna leave Leliana :( . But I didn't want Loghain to sacrifice himself sooo, have a baby pal (he didn't seem happy with that decision lol)

I have to say though, meeting Alistair at the beginning of DAOA seemed a little awkward after all that.

As is true with me Hawkes and Inquisitors...depends on the Warden.

I actually like the posed question, because it makes me think about why I only load certain choices into the Keep for Inquisition.

I had a non romance that did the sacrifice, but Morrigan is a good guilt wielder.  I was going to do it my first play through, then the game designers guilted me.  Worked too.  My first Warden lived to stay with Leliana.  Smart friggin' writers.  Manipulate me with logic.  Totally surprised me that I changed my decision.

The other caved for love...but apparently all the cave(rs) are still alive.  That Warden is still with Leliana in the Keep;)  Interesting that I always play the living one; it is a choice though.  Then again I never use a male Hawke...maybe because I don't want to use the default (male aggressive) or dead warden in my play through.  Guess I want my choices to have mattered, in a non default sort of way.

"Interesting".

I'm so malleable my first play through.  Even if I fail at whatever...the first play through is always the best!
