I definitely would have on one of my two files, but I wanted to play Awakening without a default world state both times.

As a rule, I dislike heroic sacrifices. Most of the time, they're orchestrated in a way that makes the design "buy your best ending with your character's life" all too obvious and artificial (see ME3 for a prime example).

However, it was rather well-orchestrated in DAO, and I might have done it - if I hadn't been much more interested in realizing the possibilities inherent in the DR. With the DR being clearly the most interesting ending, even if somewhat ambiguous, my general dislike of heroic sacrifices made me avoid the US.

Save once, just to see how the end changed, I always choose the US.

I tried out every possible ending option, and then repeated most of them a number of times. I never tired of playing through DA:O.  Literally dozens of times, a feat that I repeated for DA2 and now I've been playing Inquisition non-stop since shipping day. I've completed seven rather long Inquisition games and have about as many more in various stages of completion. DA junkie, here!!

My preferred DA:O choice was to have the Hero of Ferelden slay the archdemon by either participating in the dark ritual or convincing another to do the nasty with Morrigan, then survive to face the Architect & the Mother over in Amaranthine.

After Inquisition came out, there was a rumour that Warden-Alistair would have a sweet line about the Warden who he was in romance with and who did the US. So I did a quick playthrough to get that, and then played Inquisition with that one as a world state. It's the only one with US of my approx. 10 playthroughs of Origins. I'm a sucker for happy endings in which the hero and LI ride into the sunset.

If I have to give a single answer: not the Hero of Ferelden. I have played and completed DAO + Expansions/DLCs more than 20 times and only in one of them Warden died and that was because I wanted to see how the epilogue slides if the Warden dies. In all other playthroughs, either performed DR or tossed Alistair/Loghain at the Archdemon.

Three Favorite World States:

-Male Human Noble Warden romances Morrigan, Alistair and Anora rules together, Loghain dies killing the Archdemon, Warden and Morrigan walks through the Eluvian together.

-Male Human Noble Warden romances Morrigan, Warden kills Loghain, Alistair dies killing the Archdemon, Warden and Morrigan walks through the Eluvian together.

-Male Human Noble Warden romances Morrigan, Warden kills Loghain, Alistair and Anora rules together, Warden performs the DR with Morrigan, Warden and Morrigan walks through the Eluvian.

I like not performing DR and sacrificing Loghain/Alistair instead because Morrigan seems happier and more motherly in DAI with a world state where she married Warden and their son does not have Old God soul.

I actually loved Zevran Romance too but Warden-Morrigan romance is the most special thing Bioware ever created.

I let another be the paragon of the Great Virtue of Sacrifice.

Blessed be they.

Is silly that the HoF is out of the picture in DAI for weak reasons, a franchise who is about new Heroes in new places doesn't need that the old ones are still alive.
I prefer to see the various permutations but in the end is better to conclude their story arc just like Bioware default world state, and i have no interest in the whole ride into the sunset with love interest, it seems just silly.

It's not addressed in DAI at all. If you're Warden's dead they're dead. If not then you can make contact with them and the warden tells you that he would help but he's trying to find a way to stop the calling.

there is no canon the default exist only to give choices that make the most sense to newcomers.

People are very protective of their roleplay and so they choose to believe this, but yes, it's canon.

The DA Keep's version requires you to go the extra length and modify the game, while the default one is unadulterated.

The difference is clear.

I've done it at times. I think I'd do it more just to get the HoF fanboys to stay quiet.
