I did on a couple of playthroughs. But I've played through Origins so many times, I've probably done everything possible at least once.
Who actually made the Ultimate Sacrifice in DAO?

My first Warden; a male Dwarven Commoner used this conclusion, as both friend and family turned against him, leaving him with little hope for a future. However, this was not my canonical Rogue, but is one that is possible to use for The Keep.
Mine did too, but supported Bhelen (I felt it was OOC NOT doing it), saved the anvil, saved the circle, saved redcliffe, killed Connor, Loghain and Silverfang. Also performed the ritual but left Morrigan outside.

I did, because Alistair deserves the throne and I wasn't going to let Morrigan bring some tainted god-baby into the world by completing a blood magic ritual. I took one for Thedas.

I did it a few times on some of my non-canon play throughs, but for my main 3 no, they are all still alive and kicking.
Female Amell - sent Alistair away, recruited Loghain, turned down the DR and had the big L take the blow.
Female City Elf - make Alistair do the DR, then stayed as his mistress as King Ali and Anora ruled together.
Male Cousland - left Alistair in the wardens, did the DR, took the killing blow, married Anora and then went through the mirror.

In my other half I have done the DR (Mage Amell), had Alistair do it (F!Cousland and M!Dwarf Noble, he wasn't about to get with a human so Al had to deal with it)

2) Cousland female lived because Alistair sacrificed himself for love
3) Male human mage lived by sending loghain to the sacrifice, I don't remember if he convinced him to do the ritual or not, that particular character didn't care much about the other characters.
4) That's when I finally choose sacrifice for my Male Dalish rogue. Mainly to play through Awakening as the Orlesian Commander, plus it didn't fit the character to go through the ritual with Morrigan ( I cautiously gave Alistair city door duty to prevent him from robbing him of his glorious finale scene).

for one play through i made a crazy blood mage who was power hungry and only did the dark ritual so he could later use morrigans god baby for himself, fueling his power.

First play was ultimate sacrifice as a Elf blood mage Romanced Leliana. That sums up my personality.

In my first playthrough, I meant my Warden to sacrifice herself, but Alistair gave up his life instead, because he loved her even after breaking up with her.
This is still the ending that feels most authentic to me - it affected me far more than any other - but I don't think I can bring myself to import such a world-state into DA:I. I'm happier with Alistair being alive, and Thedas is better off too (in my opinion). That means that, for my first DA:I playthrough, we're looking at a City Elf Warden + Orlesian Warden combo.

I did the Dark Ritual, because my Warden had a healthy desire to not die.

Out of my seven Wardens, only one did the US: my elven mage that never got over being duped by Jowan and felt personally responsible for what happened in Broken Circle. She hated her magic and basically had a martyr complex that Leliana couldn't cure even though she was a good person that did most everything right.

Forced Alistair to marry Anora after sparing Loghain, told Morrigan to bugger of when she thought she had me cornered and made Loghain kill Archdemon so he fixes the mistakes he made.
Everyone wins, Warden is still main reason Archdemon is dead and everyone is kissing his feet while completely ignoring Loghain. I guess Morrigans prediction was ultra extremely wrong when she played on his pride, saying that "Warden will just be one unknown warden who helped mighty Loghain defeat blight".
Considering above; why the heck would you pull US and get yourself killed just for honor of stabbing that critter in the head? (unless youre trying to pull tragedy stuff on purpose)

Being a martyr can be quite a compelling story and an ending to a character. Such individuals are always looked towards with the utmost respect and gratitude, and rarely can fault be found. To die for your beliefs is something that people truly respect and honor. That being said, my Warden realized that there would be more battles and conflicts ahead. The awakened Darkspawn in Awakening were an example of that. No rest for the weary.

I did. And that's the only ending I think I'd be happy with.

The Ultimate Sacrifice is also the only one that gets you this Epilogue slide, which in my opinion is well worth dying over.

Let Loghain do it, made alistair as king and my warden live. Everyone wins.
On a second thought, not everyone won: Morrigan got endlessly annoyed by me denying her lovely dark ritual. And I loved seeing her raging.
I cannot wait to see her again on inquisition and drive her mad again.

Tried various ways, but my favorite (that I'll be using for my first DA:I playthrough) was to make a deal with Flemeth, then do DR. Jump through the mirror and pop some popcorn.

The true, ultimate sacrifice was made by Wynne because she had to babysit the Warden's ragtag team of children.

It has been a while since I beat DAO, but I'm fairly certain you get a similar slide for Sten even if you live. As long as you return his sword, he more or less considers you an equal. He certainly says something to that effect when in dialogue with him during the epilogue.

No, you only get a Sten slide if you die. You can talk to Sten and depending on what you did (sword, befriending etc) he will call you Kadan. But you only get the slide if you die.

Ungh, so many tears were shed. ;-; My Surana playthrough has a special place in my heart because of that--her ultimate sacrifice and the stoic father-naive daughter relationship she had with Sten.
On-topic: eff yes I would kill my Warden again in a heartbeat. Asides that I'd avoid Alistair dying, I would not let her suffer through Awakening/more future story lines. That's reserved for the Orlesian Warden. ![]()

My Warden's alive, and became Warden-Commander. Idk how the OGB will be mentioned in DA:I. Will he be good and a possible savour, or will he become something worse, then his past life as Urthemiel.
Warden-Commander: "I brought this evil apon us, and... I MUST SET IT RIGHT!!" *draws his mage staff, running towards his son, who shapeshifted into a dragon*

Yes, my very first play through with a female elf mage. Romanced Alistair, got dumped and then went all passive-agressive and refused the Dark Ritual, left Alistair at the Gate with a "You wanna King so bad? Go King!" attitude and got squashed by a dying Archdemon. Her fellow mages got a brand spanking new Tower though!

I agree that this was probably one of the most strangely poignant epilogues in the game. My Warden still lives, but...dem feels all the same. ;_;
