In DAII they darkened Isabella, she looks like a Roma gypsy.

IN this new DA game, apparently Vivienne is a Rivaini and she is BLACK.

 

It doesn't make sense in this medieval European setting to darken the pigment up of one nation. Where do these sub-Saharan esque people come from? Why aren't they more prevalent considering that historically, negroids reproduce more rapidly than Caucasoids and negroid features are dominant compared to recessive Caucasoid features when interracial mingling occurs?  

 

What are the Rivaini people? They cant be white, gypsy and black. If there are both white, gypsy and black people in Rivain, are there any racial tensions?

Beats me. They should look like mole people or something. Instead they look exactly like humans, except shorter and stockier. That's a much, much bigger offender than people in hot climates having sub-saharan features if you ask me.

More importantly why don't they look like moles? Surely they've had enogh time to outgrow their useless eyes and evolve new and more useful appendages.

 

Well they way evolution is works is that traits that work against reproduction success are bred out. Since Dwarven Cities are actually very well lit I don't think eyes harm a dwarf's chances of making it in any way. Unless their ancestors were always underground and had no reasons to have eyes in the first place. But did Dwarves evolve from people? Did they come from a common ancestor? Does evolution even exist in Dragon Age? After all, god seems to be real in it

It's often used in books I own published in the 90's written by a black anthropologist who taught at Rutgers University up until he died in '09. You should do your research before copy/pasting a link because a word makes you uncomfortable.

 

How that makes it better? the OP is clearly not black or an anthropologist so... also at least source your material, otherwise I am not taking your word for it.

it was both those things to a great degree. So much so that tmp made a mod to give Sten the DA2 qunari look. For the record, I do like the DA2 look and I prefer different specieses to look as different as possible instead of "short white people" and "pointy eared white people"

I can assume, i'm free to assume. The reason i love DAverse is because of it reminding much of medieval Europe. Otherwise this universe would be another generic fantasy.

Cultural parallels not geography really. I would like this to be explained more though.
