I'm just going to say this before I check out.

I'm Hispanic, which I'm reluctant to say, because I don't know how relevant my opinion is--probably none at all which is why I generally avoid these topics--on the matter. But these terms are things I am uncomfortable with because, well, that's what I've been taught. However, I am by no means telling you how you personally, or your family should feel or if you should be insulted. What I was trying to say is that there's a changing trend in recent years. And, I honestly don't know if the terms "Negroid," "Caucasoid," and "Mongoloid" are still being taught as proper for students currently studying Anthropology as that is not my field of study.

So I guess, more accurately, I should say it's not so much is a racial slur as much as it very well may be becoming one.

More than you think.

the word in question is negroid.

I don't find it offensive from an anthropological standpoint. It is a classification based on physical traits

Thread closed.

Taking too literal of an analogy of our world to Thedas isn't really relevant.  Similarities are in large part for familiarity, but the specifics about Earth migration/evolution etc. aren't factors in creating the world.  There are similarities for sure, but it's not binding by any means.

Also, the term Negroid is a contentious term, even in the field of forensic anthropology.  The term's decline began to occur the same time as ****** and it's arguably not an accurate depiction of the evolutionary history of human beings.
