I just shared a story.  In the US we describe a certain type of person as PWT... but from what I saw during my vacation, every Russian fits that description.

Exactly. If it was just one of those three things it would still be a bad interview, but not really that noteworthy. But that this clown somehow managed to combine all three into a single interview....well, that's impressive.

I honestly think he was checking his texts, that was a very long pause to turn the phone off.  

 

Yeah conservative culture and all, I still thought the interviewer was a total jerk and his line of questioning really shallow and offensive.  It was as if his assumption was 'no-one should be expected to have to endure the presence of homosexuality in games'.  Thankfully Bioware is better than this.

I couldn't even finish that joke of an interview. Poor Cameron was basically treated like trash and given no respect. The interviewers PHONE went off while Cameron was talking and it was so awkward that he had to wait for them to turn it off, I half expected the guy to freaking answer it and chat with whoever called him!

 

Plus all the terrible questions they were asking him. I give him major props for not just getting up and walking away.

 

Well it's one of those things isn't it? If Cameron leaves he is just as unprofessional as the moron who's interviewing him. I'm glad that he stayed it shows the professionalism he has, don't get me wrong though, he should not have to go through that.

At-least they haven't banned the game over there yet, hence think the reason for some of the line of questioning but we shall see.

My favourite part was definitely the phone. I was waiting for the "Excuse me," followed by a prompt termination of the call, but no. I also like how blunt the answers became when he realised they barely cared what he was saying.

I thought this was going to be much worse. As for the body slider question, so what? The game is rated M, partly due to sexual content. Not really shocking. The 'gay content toggle' question is because homosexuality is not widely accepted in Russia, so not surprising for a Russian interview. I'm not saying anyone should be OK with it, but I don't know why anyone cares. It's not for a North American/Western European audience.

You have to understand that that is Russia. They've made being gay pretty much illegal.

 

I mean if they wanted to the cops there could have arrested Cameron for promoting a game in which being gay was okay. Literally, it's illegal to promote homosexuality as anything but the worst thing ever.

 

It's illegal for gays to adopt kids. Hell it's illegal for Russians to adopt kids from countries where being gay is okay.

 

It's illegal to basically feel that gays are okay. I'm glad Cameron got out in one piece.

 

So it comes as no surprise to me that a reporter from that country would ask if they could switch off "they gay parts" of Dragon Age Inquisition.

Oh goodness.  Yeah, that's pretty screwed up.  My best friend of 17 years is a Russian immigrant, who came here on political asylum.  I would go ballistic if anyone referred to him or his family as white trash.

Because a journalist, who is supposed to be a professional, was asking about the ability to give his character bigger breasts and a nicer ass. I mean really, you have 20 minutes to interview the dev about the game and that is on your list of most important things to ask?

 

I expect those sorts of questions on the BSN. I don't expect them from the gaming press.
