That just sounds like mob mentality to me. Yes I hate the laws in Russia but a lot of other countries have laws like that and worse. Plenty of western countries have huge communities of people who would like to see laws like that implemented. In my country (the UK)  gay marriage was recently legalised but there were a lot of people against it and it took a long time to get it through.

Its still Illegal in parts of the US the most "western" nation out there.  We generalize all too easily and it's disturbing the faster the human race learns to accept people for who they are the better our lives will be but that is wishful thinking.

One person?

Does anybody watch the news around here? lol

I'm sure we do, but the horrible things that end up on the news, don't necessarily represent an entire country.  Which is a good thing no country comes off well in the news.

Sadly the human race will take quite a few more decades and some tragic events to get to that point.

But my gloomy outlook is normally wrong hopefully.

God, that's the last thing you should be watching if you want to have any valid ground for any conclusion. xD

I don't think anyone wants to have their entire nation by the actions of their leaders.   Nor have several countries thrown under a stifling and inaccurate blanket.  Try to be respectful and not go there, okay?

It reminds me of the David Bowie song, "I'm Afraid of Americans."

Look, I'm not hating on Russia or anything. I'm just saying that it's more than just the leaders who are cruel and borderline evil. I know that not every single Russian is an awful person. I get that. lol

I just think it's kinda funny that people are shocked or offended when Russia hating takes place. And most "Russian haters" aren't hating on Russia as a whole. No one is stupid enough to hold every last person responsible for the rest of the country. That's not what's going on here... :P

Well I was more referring to the "gay propaganda" laws than gay marriage being legal or illegal. That said there was an attempt to implement something like that in schools recently here in the uk, but it didn't happen fortunately.

(edit) apparently some us states still have laws like that in schools for sex education. So yeah, there's that.

When I have read things like, "It's Russia, what do you expect?" and "Don't you watch the news?" it comes across as very stereotyping of an entire nation.   I can certainly see how that can be hurtful.  As a US citizen, I've been accused of being a dumb redneck just because I live here.  Even though I'm miles north of the Mason-Dixon line.   That isn't a productive outlook to take and unfair towards Russian posters to do that.

This interview isn't the only time I've seen such horrid attempts at misusing the term "journalism"  in relation to this game during the course of the year.  It's just one of the worst and this time, it happens to be from Russia.

if you look at the law over there objectively it's still draconian but it was designed for children not to see homosexual activity just like here in the west we don't allow our children to see heterosexual activity let alone homosexual activity they just took it a step too far in some respects.

Well after the interviewer went down the homophobic Russian road, what do you expect people to feel? lol Of course it's going to come out. Every "bad" thing that is said about Russians, was represented here with this interviewer.

But I understand where you are coming from. Generalizations can be irritating. As a non feminine gay man, I fall victim to this crap all the time. But I also don't blame people for thinking these things. Stereotypes exist for a reason. lol

Objectivity is a clever illusion, and a tricky balance to maintain.  You aren't a robot, but you're supposed to remain professional.   So the level of objectivity that has been shown in journalism in the past has always been a subject of debate.  If you do a little digging, there was times in the history of journalism in the US that would put a lot of the current style of "journalism" to shame.  The bias was incredible during parts of the history of the newspaper, going back to the 1800s.

However, one thing that a journalist/interviewer must and should always be is professional.    Those guys failed at that spectacularly.

I guess I felt like if anything, those two exemplified the "dumb horny jock gamer" stereotype more than anything else.

was there ever?

reporters, journalists, interviews are all just people & people have there own inherent biases

All a person can do is to try and be aware of them & reduce the amount of impact they have on their work/life.

The big issue with journalism is the outside influences, like PR companies who can get journalists to make us feel sorry for bankers who robbed millions while vilifying poor people.

I'm not really interested in this, but from what l read their "anti-gay propaganda" law is a populist measure. Homosexuality is not illegal in Russia and they have gay clubs.

For **** sake, he really did asked this stupid question!

And if you really wanna know name of that guy - it's Konstantin Govorun from IGN Russia. Information is in the description of video. I never had any respect for this guy, to be honest. He represents some of the most nastyes sides of journalism. Not just russian journalism btw. Can't wait 'til he screw us all again.

Don't take me wrong - im not surprised by this question. Why the hell did he asked it? The answer would be obvious, and the only reason i can think of is that he just wanted to provoke Cameron for some stupid actions.

Going to close this one down as it's starting to derail into sociopolitical discussion which tends to require a careful eye to look over it to keep things on track.

I understand that it can be easy, especially with the history of other stuff regarding homosexuality from Russia in recent news (I do it too!) but I agree with Natashina in this case.  Sorry.
