For me, This is one of the epic moment in DA II. I was so totally not expecting that to happened to Hawke's mom. I remember I was so so shocked. And I was so so mad at that crazy bad mage person, forgot his name, that all I wanted to do was to end his miserable life.
I was so pissed I promise you.
Then after I killed him, had few last words with mother. That was really very emotional. I remember still hating that bad mage even more after mother's passing. I still do.

My favorite was when aggressive Hawke sides with Varnell at the rally and proves they're against the qunari by flinging the murder knife into one of the bound delegates. It throws everyone including Petrice off. Then afterwards Hawke burns the bodies to hide the torture.
Hawke was told to help put out the fire raging between the qunari and Kirkwall but she's no peacemaker and only added kindling to it.
Another epic moment that got me all....

Varric's scareface moment,along with Bethany's upgrade in Varric's story.
In the Legacy DLC and the end fight with Corypheus. Finding out that the Golden City may have already been tainted to begin with and left with the lingering question: If it was already corrupted... HOW?!
Leandra's death. Hit me like a truck.
The Viscount's brutal murder.
The revelation that Corypheus is one of the first Darkspawn and that the Black City was already corrupted (possibly).
Orsino turning into the freaking Harvester by using the dead bodies of his fellow mages.
The final fight in the Awiergan Scrolls quest. The first time I tried it I quickly found out I was not properly prepared for it. Even today on nightmare this is a very very hard fight for me.
+ All of the Qunari stuff was epic. It made me a fan of theirs more than my Qunari companion Sten ever did. I blame the theme music that played in those missions, especially Demands of the Qun while Hawke & Co storm Viscount's Keep. All of it culminating into an awesome duel with the awesome Arishok.
+ Leandra's death. In particular, the look on Hawke's face while she dies in their arms. Never seen uncanny valley there. It is always the perfect look of sorrow, for all of the Hawkes I designed, and it just kills me to see the character I created look so damn sad. Also, the way the violin (iirc) plays there, too. It's clearly trying to evoke emotion from me. Well it works every time. Dammit.
+ Rogue Hawkes killing Feynriel's slaver in the hostage situation.
+ Class-specific cutscenes of boss kills. Love seeing mages work their magic on the big bads, while rogues and warriors do their own things.
+ The Templars bowing down to a mage Hawke after defeating Meredith.
The Qunari plot was easily my favorite. I wish I could have Hawke become Arishok lol.
Murder-knifing Feynriel's captor is easily up there. I even started saving right outside the door so I can relive the moment whenever I please.
I saw it coming, but it still hit me, when Varania got up and couldn't look Fenris in the face, and he didn't understand why, I admit that I was pretty gripped by that moment, and I couldn't wait to take out Danarius, a character I so immensely hated. I love that this quest ends with his brutal murder.
Killing Duke Prosper. It was awesome and hilarious.

For that you need to convert to Qun......... 
That's fine. If Hawke was able to submit to the Qun, I'd probably have a playthrough where that happens. Of course, she can't be a Saarebas, but I'd have at least one rogue or warrior Hawke that commands her own legion of oxmen.
For me it was on my first playthru the impact has lessened since , but its the moment Anders blows the crap out of the chantry I thought wtf noooooooooo!! you total a-hole you've done it now .

Every single scene with the Arishok. I don't know who did his voice-acting...but their work was excellent. In fact, the Qunari plot-line in Acts 1 and 2 in general. I mean, we got a strong impression from Sten that Qunari are....a bit different from everyone else, but damn if DA2 didn't ramp that up to 11.
Especially with Ketojan. I remember the first time I played that scene, watching him burn himself to death in order to serve the Qun. As I recall, my response was "damn", followed by "if the Chantry think they can out extreme these guys....uh, well, they've got another thought coming." I mean, Mother Petrice burning other people alive to serve the Chantry, sure....
