I'm a 30 year old man who just said awwwwwwwwe.
Seriously that pic is cute as hell.
You don't play as Shepard's child in ME4, you play as the starchild, and your mission is to try to make sense of the previous three games.
That is one ugly looking image.

Dude, what is your problem? What did the Mako ever do to you?
Dude, what is your problem? What did the Mako ever do to you?
I like the Mako. Is that a problem?
First thought: F-yeah, everyone survived!
Second though: Daaaaaaaw
Third thought: Aww, man, Ash is gonna kill my Shepard!
Ah, but Shepard can just deny. The beauty of illegitimate lovechildren with Asari is there's no way to prove it's even yours.
ROTFL.
Shep and Liara watching the kid play with her toys...Ah, but Shepard can just deny. The beauty of illegitimate lovechildren with Asari is there's no way to prove it's even yours.
Shep and Liara watching the kid play with her toys...
Shep: I don't see any resemblance.
Liara *rolls eyes*: I'll prove it... Dear why don't you go clean your room, like I asked?
Kid: Awwww mom!
Liara: now, little one.
Kid *turns to shep*: I should go.
Liara *looks pointedly at shep*: well?
Shep: uhhh... Dammit.
*Liara gets a call from the space principal*
Liara: SHE DID WHAT!!! No, thank you for telling me. No, I'll deal with this right away. Again I am really sorry.
*hangs up phone (omni-tool?)*
Liara: Shepard Jr, get your asss down here.
Shepard Jr: What, mom?
Liara: I just got a call from your principal. Guess what he called me about?
Shepard Jr: I swear mom, I didn't do it. And I'm getting real tired of that guy's disingenuous assertions.
In high school, Shepard Jr. walks out of the elevator to confront a fellow student who is standing looking out a window.
Shepard Jr: "Turn around very slowly, Jenira."
Jenira: "What do you want?"
S Jr.: "Tell me where my homework is."
Jenira (with a smirk): "I don't know where your homework is, and if I did I wouldn't tell you."
S Jr: "I'll ask you again. Tell me where my homework is."
Jenira: "I've got nothing more to say to you."
S Jr.: (shoves Jenira out the window): "How about 'Goodbye.'"
Later......
Shepard: "I'm telling you, Liara, she's not mine!"
*phone rings*
Liara: "Yes.... She did what?! ... The police? ... I'll be right down."
Shepard: "What happened?"
Liara: "This is all your fault!"
Shepard: "What's my fault? I told you she's not my child. She can't be."
Liara: "She just shoved a fellow student out a window. Do the words, 'How about goodbye' sound familiar?"
Shepard: "crap! Is the student alright?"
Liara: "Yes, we're Asari. Lucky for her, we featherfall, remember?"
Now all we need us for someone to tell us that's not how asari reproduction works...In high school, Shepard Jr. walks out of the elevator to confront a fellow student who is standing looking out a window.

Grandpa Aethyta disagree's.

That isn't at all how asari reproduction works.

Kid: Mother, where do babies come from?
Liara: When one Asari loves another... anything, they do a special hug known as the Meld. Most being can only reproduce within their own species, but we Asari are different. You see, Asari actually produce both gametes themselves, merely using the genetic material of a partner to randomise the code of one of them. We can do so with any gender of any other species. Interestingly, both of your grandmothers were Asari, which is uncommon.
Kid: But I thought Asari always needed another species to reproduce.
Liara: ...
I have heard of this rumor as well - and if it is true I don't plan on getting the game. Given the writing skills displayed in ME3 (and especially its endings), I have serious doubt that they are capable of telling good stories anymore.

At least see what it's like in DA:I before writing them off for good.

No. No no no no no. ****** NO.
Okay, now that the visceral kneejerk reaction is out of the way...
There is NO possible way this could happen. The setting of the game hasn't been declared, but if it's a sidequel, taking place during the trilogy, it would be absolutely impossible for a Shepard child to exist - Shepard's canonically I think 28/29 in ME1. For Shepard to have a child, the only way for them to not be in their teens is for Shepard to have fathered/given birth to the child while in the single digits. Although it's at the outside of possibility (the VERY outside), this would have to have been spoken of.
And if the game is set in the future of the universe, only human LI's or Liara COULD have a child with Shepard, and Miranda is canonically infertile. And if they DID go the 'Liara has Shepard's child route,' first of all, that by their own canon would result in a female only protagonist, because that's how asari biology works. And we've seen a human male in N7 armor in some of the concept art going around. PLUS, I can assure you that, if they were to canonize Liara having Shepard's child, whether a romance or not, effectively raping Shepard, because she'd be impregnating herself without Shepard's knowledge or consent, there would be RIOTING, from both those who don't romance Liara and those who like Liara and know that this is an action that would NEVER be in character for her.
I have heard this idea thrown around more than once, and my reaction is always the same - NO. This is the one thing that I can say for certain would make me drop the game, possibly the SERIES. Just NO. Let Shepard rest.
It's amusing to see so many people arguing against it, as if it ever had any possibility of actually being real.
