Dragon Age: Inquisition Gameplay - How does it compare to Origins? - [24:29]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENi6XbJU4wA

After watching this they pointed out some negatives I dislike such as NPCs are background noise, no healers, less depth compared to Origins... I wonder if Bioware really listened to its fans....

Even though I'll get this game and if it doesn't live up to it's hype I still got Halo MCC, GTA V, Smash Bros Wii U, and Pokemon R/S to satisfy me from a disappointment if it happens.

Dude, yesterday were released like 20 previews, 18 completely positive and 2 mixed/negatives.

Why to put all your attention in the negative ones?

Anyway, reviews will be out next week with proper impressions about all the game, just wait for them.

In my opinion the above video was made by people going in and trying to be disappointed.  On top of that they focused entirely on the negative side of every change and ignored all the positives (no healing they mentioned - they forgot to mention the intense new damage mitigation powers of guard and barrier though they must have had access to them).

I respect their view but they made their arguments so poorly it's hard to take them seriously.

how can you tell the depth of a game from 6 hours where they cant talk about the story?

Valid concerns are breadth vs depth and the ability to establish the player character prior to the plot kicking off as Sylvius the Mad pointed out. They did however say that 4-5 hours isn't enough time to judge DA:I accurately since this is the first time BioWare has tackled the multi-region/open world approach in a Dragon Age game. It's also possible that the developers put them in a part of the game where there weren't many story beats which seems to have effected their impressions.

I find it interesting that of the games you listed, all but one of them are simple remake/remasters (arguably all of them). Perhaps you would have preferred a remake of origins instead of a new game? Bioware has the right to experiment with mechanics and not simply make Origins 2.0. While some of the changes may be a little weird, I am excited to try them out and see how it all plays out.

All I have ever wanted out of Bioware is DAO2, but I have resigned myself to the fact that they just aren't capable of making a game that good any more. I don't if it is because of EA or because of the people who have left the company since then, but the magic is gone. I'm sure DAI will be a decent game, but it looks a lot more like DA2^2 than DAO2, and that makes me sad.

Not happening, and I am VERY GLAD about that.

Cause I'd rather have DA2-2 (which DAI isn't) than DAO2.

People want games to improve, but they don't want it to change.

And yes, I'd rather have a DA2-2 than a DAO-2.

No Healing you say?

One healing spell. Two if you squint like hell. Neither useful for ordinary utility.

You can dislike how they are implemented, but they are there.

So instead of healing for 400, you stop 400 damage from happening. Semantics at its worst.

Unfortunatelly the age of actual Bioware RPGs with tons of dialogues and choices seems to be gone. Now it's all ActionRPGs with dialogue wheel and less power over PC

Still, DA:I seems to be a good game, better than DA2, thankfully

Because it will be another 5 years before persona 5 (but don't worry, we'll get another trailer halfway through).  :D

As for whether or not there's no depth -- that would have to be specified. In relations to what? The gameplay? The characters? The writing? Something else? It's hard to make an overall on previews but it's fine to have concerns.

After watching that video, I dont get the concern...In fact the game looks great. Those guys looked a bit inept at playing, but other then that I like what I'm seeing very much.

Without derailing too much -- The lack of social links, same characters from P3 & 4 again, story and development that amounts to generally nothing. I don't see much point. I also doubt we'll have to wait much longer. Atlus isn't as slow as they were years ago, as one would notice with the time between the Japanese release of Catherine & Persona 4 Golden to the western one.

So anyway, Dragon Age!

I do really like Dragon Age: Origins, but I don't think that it's as amazing as people are making it out to be. The combat in particular was consistently below average for me, and it had some of the most mind-numbingly dull side missions I've played in a role playing game.

Elements like the fade segment were very poorly designed and immensely grating on subsequent playthroughs.

I'd say that the highest quality game they have made all-around relatively recently is Mass Effect 2, and there have only been two (admittedly pretty bad in several important aspects) games since then. Inquisition looks very promising, and I'm certain that nobody will be able to tell me how good the game is except for myself when I play it, so I'll wait before forming any opinion.

After watching yesterdays videos I nearly got the digital download last night even though I promised myself I'd wait until I'd played Access before buying the game. What I have saw over the past two days has blown me away and answered most of my fears for the game. It looks immense.

I've held out so far but whether I can hold out until next Thursday before downloading is something I am not so sure about though.

I can't get past the Fade anymore. I've tried to play the game countless times since DA:I was announced but have come stuck in the tower every time.

Shots fired!

But in all seriousness, I really agree with you here. As much as I love Origins - I'd rather go through and replay DA2.

Inquisition is making me all jittery - and slightly worried that we're possibly only going to get a single copy... My Dad plays as much/more Dragon Age than me - soon...
