Jeez, really?!
What ever happened to waiting to play the game before jumping to such conclusions? You're just willing to make that conclusion based on short clips and the incompetence of these two reviewers?
ME3, DA2, SWTOR.

ME3, DA2, SWTOR.
Well BG let you allocate your stats. It was rather important too. The game system didn't give you any more stats when you leveled up, though. So how you placed your stats at the beginning was pretty vital.
So if you were allowed to choose stats in the very beginning, you would be fine with it?
ME3, DA2, SWTOR.
Oh you mean those games that arent related to DA:I?
ME3, DA2, SWTOR.
I liked all those games. >.> ME3 more then 2. SWTOR probably my favorite mmo, currently.
Oh you mean those games that arent related to DA:I?
..DA2, not related to DAI? It's practically Dragon Age 2-2!
So if you were allowed to choose stats in the very beginning, you would be fine with it?
Yes. And as long as the game didn't place stats for me when leveling up. I am sure you can see how a lot of players would consider that hand-holding? It is about the game doing things\making choices for me. That's it.
I wonder if the people complaining about lack of dialogue also complained about the warden in DAO being mute?
This isn't an attack, it is an honest question. I was never concerned with VAs. Fallout with all of its text dialogue was and is awesome. But I do recall all the people who moaned after DAO that the warden was mute.
There is a direct correlation between moving to VAs and reducing the amount of dialogue in games. Developers have flat out admitted it. It costs more to have a voice actor read a whole paragraph of information then it did to just have the proverbial wall of text.

Short clips? Internet is full of gameplay videos, some are even half an hour long. You will even find an hour long one.

Same developer. All of them disapointed more people than they pleased. And now certain familiar signs are popping up in videos again.
ME3, DA2, SWTOR.

1.) No, DA2 is practically an entirely different specimen with more/different devs, different gameplay, story, mechanics, etc. It being in the same universe doesnt conclude that its doomed to the same fate. Thats like saying since DAO was great, DA2 will be great
2.)So without playing DA:I at all you're going to conclude that its DA2-2?

We ve seen so many that i hardly believe any of us would be surprised when we get to play the game ... the gameplay is the one we ve saw in so many vids so far ... and i believe many including me wont be exactly thrilled about it ...
The only thing which didn't saw is the story which is one of bioware's pretty strong points so if they didn't made an absolutely fantastic job there the game would be good but for some fans not good enough ...
I want to be surprised in a good way when i get to play the game ... but i had similar expectations on similar occasions in the past and simply didn't happen ..
The Dragon Age Inquisition's webiste. At the front of it. Right there. Even says that it is an ACTION RPG. So that is what we are getting. The comparison is very valid indeed, since Bioware confirms it.
The only quote I could find about this is this quote:
BioWare’s latest action-adventure delivers an unparalleled story set in a vast, changeable landscape. Explore hidden caves, defeat truly monumental creatures, and shape the world around you based on your unique play style.
Does this mean that Bioware no longer makes rpgs, but action-adventures like say Uncharted? or Tomb Rader? I'm asking because to me it seems Bioware is removing themselves more and more from their rpg roots.....
I'm not against change, when it is meaningfull and creative. However, to me it seems that Bioware really has looked towards Skyrim and decided to do what Skyrim did - in order to sell as many copies of the game as possible. Probably thinking that many of the players that played Skyrim back in 2011-2012 will now buy DA: Inquisition. However, I'm not so sure about this....

With a silent protagonist I can make up how his voice sounds in my mind. More options there.
Wall of text = more options too. Look at Planescape Torment, for example.
I don't mind the voiced protagonist one bit, though. Perfectly fine with it.
Short clips? Internet is full of gameplay videos, some are even half an hour long. You will even find an hour long one.
Compared to an 100+ hour game? Yes that is small

That is pretty much how I saw it, except there is a direct corelation between VAs and less dialogue.

I dont consider that hand holding though, I would consider that balance. A way from you making the game too easy or hard, games do this in a lot of ways, stats being on of them. Although I'm not seeing a difference honestly, because all that would mean is the stats would be balanced around the gear and even less on the stats. The differences seem incredibly nominal. I mean, if they handled stats like Dark Souls maybe, but even dark souls stat allocation imo is far from balanced.

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.
Take DAO and DA2, compare them to DAI, and tell me which it resembles more? It's literally carrying most of DA2's design decisions across.
Compared to an 100+ hour game? Yes that is small
Yea, but you will just repeat what you can see in those gameplay videos for at least 80 hours of that playtime.

You say many arent thrilled as if you're the overwhelming majority, reality is, you're not, so to just proclaim that if the story element doesnt deliver (based on your own opinion) isnt good that the game will be doomed, isnt a legitimate basis of critiquing a game

Must be why they immediatly close threads when a "what is an rpg" discussion pops up. Best to blurr the genres as much as possible, an keep a foot in both camps (action and rpg).

Does it take you 100 hours to figure out how combat works?

Except its not a duck
In what ways does DA:I's design look like Da2? Please explain
Yea, but you will just repeat what you can see in those gameplay videos for at least 80 hours of that playtime.
Did you just repeat Lothering and Ostagar throughout DAO? That is basically what they have seen.

Tell me when you meet the duck. No youtube and googling it doesn't count.
