I'm looking forward to Hawke being in DA:I as well, but I can certainly see why some folks hate her/him.  I don't agree with the dislike, but some posters have brought up valid points explaining their view.

That is more rare then seeing a nug farmer moving topside.

I'm treating Hawke like an NPC I never played.

I think Hawke will be tied to The main plot.
Also, as DAO fan who preferred if to DA2 (as I preferred The Warden to Hawke, even though I don't hate The latter), I didn't take any offence by The post you linked, OP, and I don't think Gaider called anyone who preferred DAO naive.
I'm really glad The Warden isn't in. Less chances to screw him up.

I think you need to surf different threads then.   ;)

Hey, that's not a bad idea for those that despise the character.  Just pretend it's yet another dopey NPC.

Unfortunatelly the Bioware seems to love Hawke a lot and hate the Warden no less.

Oh, I've read the arguments. My point still stands, imo.

The Devs have said OVER AND OVER again that Warden's story is done while Hawke's story still has stuff to tell. And frankly The Warden is impossible to incorporate in anything beyond a meaningless cameo, and Bioware doesn't want to do meaningless cameos. More to the point the cameo would draw the ire of so man fans.

And I'm sorry but I don't Want DA:O2 and DA:O3, which to be perfectly honest is what I feel many people here want, Sequels with no innovation because as far as they're concerned DA:O had achieved perfection.

Then we'll agree to disagree.  I think I've spent enough time on the forums today bickering over dumb crap.   ;)

Edit: Meaning a back and forth argument over the validity of the posters on the BSN would be kinda dumb crap if I belabored the point.  As well as off topic.

However, I am with a lot of others when it comes to Hawke's return.  I liked Hawke, glad to see them back and I'm glad the writers will be able to finish his/her tale.

Since Origin's fans are regarded by devs as vestigial or naive (example), and Warden absence is confirmed (it seems DA franchise has to move forward, but hey, let's bring Hawke again beacuse you know, she was so awesome), will be able at least to ignore Hawke's quest or whatever she does in Inquisition? Or her quest/appearence/cameo will be unavoidable?

I don't like her and it would be cool that players could ignore her appearence without consequence.

the butthurt is strong in this one.

You dont have to edit for my benefit, I dont get offended that easy. I agree it is dumb crap, but I was talking about the quality of posters on BSN, not the validity. :P

I haven't been at my most graceful today on the forums, so I've been trying to cover my butt just in case.  ;)  Thanks for being laid back about it though.

Fair enough, and I don't disagree, but this probably isn't the best thread to discuss it in.

Don't worry, the Devs have made sure that Hawke will show up to save the day every time the Inq is in trouble. Mid way through the game you'll have to choose between handing the Inquisition over to Hawke because of how awesome he is or comitting sepeku because of how much inferior the Inq is. Then the rest of the game is about Hawke being awesome and fighting all the remaining Archdemons at once, including one possessing the Warden.

Glorious game isn't it? :P

this was so funny. way to make me look like a lunatic trying in vain to stifle my giggles and snorts in public <_<

I really hope they give you the option to ignore Hawke in the quest/s he's involved in, and not force you to play alongside him no matter how important he is in the DA universe and the whole mage-templar kerfuffle.

As for me, I really liked Hawke as a character, so I'm happy that he's returning in DA:I.

Obviously, I'd be even happier if the Warden was returning also, but you can't have everything can you.

If I remember correctly, there was a huge uproar (negative, obviously) here when there was a possibility of the Warden returning because BW would, in short, "f%#^ it up." Now that they are not returning, there is more uproar. I'm confused, how do make people happy.

For myself, I'd rather neither returned in DAI.  But since Hawke is in it, I'll just have to hope that BW will not "f%#^ it up"

Not me. I was super excited when I watched a trailer in which Hawke and some random Grey Warden appeared

Just imagine. The Inquisitor, the Warden and the Hawke fighting some Big Boss, together. Epic. I don't even care if nothing would be said. Heck, I'd love to see some running gag like "a monster/blast/event happens whenever the Warden tries to open their mouth"

It's just... a moment which would make me cry probably from the pure win

I would like this as well, but I also don't share the same enthusiasm that some have for the Warden. It wouldn't bother me if they gave him/her a voice. I see my time with them as over. I would like to see them again, but I don't care if I don't ever see them in another game. I want the DA story to keep branching and moving forward. One of my favorite things about DA is that the protagonist is different in each game. Just my thoughts on it, such as they are.

This is top secret, so you didn't hear it from me, but the epilogue of DAI is Hawke retiring to his Chataeu after ending the possibility of any future blight followed by everyone that you can sleep with in DAO, DA2, and DAI (even the dead ones as they redirect themselves for the chance to sleep with Hawke). Fade to black, we then go to the disembodied head of the Archdemons Warden, where it shakes a little. The words The End? apear. It is then eaten by a griffon, who then throws up while flying over a volcano. Slow month of the bile drenched head falling into the volcano and slowly melting away to be just a a discoloration in the magma in the shape of a middle finger. Return to Hawke naked in bed with several LIs also nude and nearby. He makes a witty remark and cut to credits.
