The amount of tears in this topic are awesome...and I love how there is a group of people out there who think that no one who enjoyed DA2 also enjoyed DA:O...

I mean honestly...who in the hell do you think bought DA2?

But onto the topic at hand....Hawke was one of the best characters from DA2 (at least my awesome sarcasticfemme Hawke) along with Varric and Isibella, and you won't be able to ignore Hawke's overpowering awesomeness...

Everyone knows that the Warden and Hawke ran away together for some crazy romantic love-fest. That's why they both went missing. It's so obvious (this is a joke)

I would like this as well, but I also don't share the same enthusiasm that some have for the Warden. It wouldn't bother me if they gave him/her a voice. I see my time with them as over. I would like to see them again, but I don't care if I don't ever see them in another game. I want the DA story to keep branching and moving forward. One of my favorite things about DA is that the protagonist is different in each game. Just my thoughts on it, such as they are.

The world of Thedas is alive and feels like progressing due to the fact that characters we know and systems actually live, evolve. Lelianna, Morrigan, Alistair, Zevran - they all have their own lives, they don't stop existing once they finish being our companions

Same should be said about our Wardens and Hawkes - we might never play as them again, that's fine. But they still continue existing hence they should get at least mentioned

You're playing as Hawke for a part of the game, I doubt you'll enjoy this game OP.

I didn't like DA2 all that much, but I don't mind seeing Hawke again at all. It will be interesting to see how interaction with a former PC will work, actually.

You click your username and the arrow, upper-right of your menu and click Manage Ignore Preferences. Copy and paste any name you don't want to see, and you should be fine.

After meeting Hawke:

Cassandra:  That's not how you described him

Varric:  I may have embellished a little...

Cassandra:  And what's that red thing on his face?  A birthmark?   A scar?

Varric:  Nobody knows, seeker.  Nobody knows.

I'm in love with purple Garrett as much as the next fan, (and I realize this thread is about hating him), but man... whoever designed that stupid-ass blood smear really needs to join us here in reality.

Probably the same guy who came up with the term "awesome button".

Part of me really wishes it would've been part of Hawke's own "Champion of Kirkwall" unique tree or something. I don't mind it being a thing, although I really have to question why it was a thing for Hawke to have permanently on his face as opposed to something like a ritual taught by his father or somesuch.

Well I do wish Lady Ashe's "speculation" turns out to be right because allowing us to play as Hawke would allow us to have two protagonists instead of one. Both would have their own personalities and their own part of the story to play. Anyways, I doubt Hawke would be there for long, mostly for the end-game section or the Fade ones, I figure. I think that maybe Hawke is stuck in the Fade and the Inquisitor can't go inside the Fade, which would force them to cooperate.

This would also explain Hawke's dissappearance at the end of DA2. We already know through some achievement spoilers who the big bad is though so this makes this theory even more possible.

And the Warden would get thrown away like a trash... sure, what a "wonderful" idea

Heck, I'll ask for a refund if this happens

I'd prefer as well to play Hawke myself instead of being a NPC, just because this way there are less chances to screw him up. I think it'd be best to not expect too much, otherwise you might end up disappointed.

Just one question.

Who is Hakwe? *points to thread title*

Ah, the plot thickens.

What was the real purpose of this thread? Maybe point out the character who'll bring DA fans the Red Lyrimu?

Why ?
Bioware doesn't have to include all previous protagonists. And I say this as bigger fan of The Warden then Hawke.

The GW is to be mentionned through NPCs and letters apparently. They probably didn't added him or her because the character didn't have voice acting to begin with. Hawke's story wasn't finished, the Warden's plot can be told through different media. They had to make a decision with the resources they had and they already mentionned that Exalted March DLC would be implemented in DA:Inquisition... Doesn't seem right to me to replace Hawke with the Grey Warden for his section of the plot.

Yeah. Playing as Hawke instead of him/her being simple NPC seems the right way to go. Wouldn't be surprised if both characters met and you chose both how they reacted to their meeting.

Devs talk, of course. they say things about their creation. But not all that they say is true, or have a direct intention to it.

They could say Hawke history is not over, or they could say Warden history is indeed over. They've also said many things in the past like Dragon Age 2 was the best of Dragon Age Origins plus some awesome things.

People sure talk a lot ^_^

Yeah, it would make sense to have it only when Blood Magic was active.

Hawke had a story :|?

I won't mention spoilers from the achivement list but the thing is - they also can be easily connected to the Warden due to her/his profession

But that's spoilers talk so I won't discuess it

I very much doubt Hawke will be playable in any way. The game doesn't have blood magic. If your Hawke (or warden for that matter) was a Blood Mage...wouldn't work.

Hawke had a story, it wasn't the best in the world but it was there. His/her role was being the catalyst that made the events of Kirkwall spiral into chaos, has he/she was the witness of all the madness through his friends and rivals. He/she was there for his family and tried to live a good life, depending on how you perceive that character. The companions themselves are the heroes and antagonists of the second game while you are tagging along in the chaos. However, after the Legacy DLC, there was hints that the Exalted March DLC would happen, which would put an end to Hawke's arc and lead us to Inquisition. Instead, they made the third game and included Hawke's finale part to his arc there.
