I very much doubt Hawke will be playable in any way. The game doesn't have blood magic. If your Hawke (or warden for that matter) was a Blood Mage...wouldn't work.
Could be possible that if your Hawke was a Blood Mage that he or she gets a respec.

Hawke had a story, it wasn't the best in the world but it was there. His/her role was being the catalyst that made the events of Kirkwall spiral into chaos, has he/she was the witness of all the madness through his friends and rivals. He/she was there for his family and tried to live a good life, depending on how you perceive that character. The companions themselves are the heroes and antagonists of the second game while you are tagging along in the chaos. However, after the Legacy DLC, there was hints that the Exalted March DLC would happen, which would put an end to Hawke's arc and lead us to Inquisition. Instead, they made the third game and included Hawke's finale part to his arc there.
An unwilling cataclyst at best
An errand boy/girl in truth
The parts about the family and companions do not matter because the same can be said about the Warden (not like this "family" actually survived or even stayed by Hawke's side)
Hawke's story lacked a solid goal, aim, structure. Acts were disjointed. Hence it felt more like "Hawke tries to live a normal life=>**** happens". That's not a story.. it's like a set or random drabbles which end in some big conflict
Good news Hawke-haters, confirmation that you CAN ignore his/her appearance!
When Hawke appears on-screen, close your eyes, hum very loudly and press a/x/click until he/she is gone.
OR
Cover your eyes, plug your ears and have a friend play until Hawke is gone. (co-op only)

I guess you're not a fan of self-contained episodes or chronicles. *shrugs* DAII wasn't just about Hawke, it was also about the companions and the world changing in the background.

Can I get an Amen?

I like them when they're done right
Any kind of story is good if done right
DA2 wasn't done right hence it got so many negative reviews
Since Origin's fans are regarded by devs as vestigial or naive (example), and Warden absence is confirmed (it seems DA franchise has to move forward, but hey, let's bring Hawke again beacuse you know, she was so awesome), will be able at least to ignore Hawke's quest or whatever she does in Inquisition? Or her quest/appearence/cameo will be unavoidable?
I don't like her and it would be cool that players could ignore her appearence without consequence.
How do you know that Origins are disregarded? Do you think that maybe that the Warden is not making an appearance is because they felt he/she wasn't necessary? The developers stated that Hawke's story wasn't finished and it was going to be wrapped up in a DA2 DLC, but it was scrapped and it was integrated in DAI. Hawke is going to appear whether you like it or not.
Amen! But I have bad news... We actually play as the Inquisitor for the first 10 hours or so and then switch to Hawke that carries Wardens head on his belt.
You might want to put that in a spoiler tag. ![]()
Hawke is going to appear whether you like it or not.
If only some people could just let it go and accept that Hawke's story did happen.
Fighting yourself with yourself? Not such a good idea.

Well, yes, I know... that's why I am asking if we will be able to ignore her cameo/quest.

How will you react if you are forced to play as him or her? What are you going to do if his/her quest is mandatory to finish the game?

You won't. The moment they say she plays a significant role in game, that means she has to stay. ![]()

I think Hawke will follow you wherever you go and keep pestering you with "Can we do my quest now? What about now? Now? Maybe?" until you agree to do Hawke's quest.

Obviously I'm not going to like it if that's the case. But since I'm gonna buy the game because I love Dragon Age world, I'll have to deal with it. Maybe the rest of the game is glorious and makes me forget about this, ahem, little "treason" to (some part of) Origins fans.

I know, right? Shocking how some can't even spell that character's name right.
I think the real question that needs to be asked is whether we'll be able to turn Hawke into a turtle named Truffles.

Then let's not judge the final product just because of X or Y appearing or not appearing. See the game for yourself and see what becomes of your decisions and other stuff. Asking the developpers to give you everything right away is just going to spoil your fun of discovering a new game.

That's my dogs name!
I doubt we'll be able to ignore Hawke. While the warden's job (ending the blight) is over with, Hawke is still seen by many as being a huge part of the war going on. I fail to see how that example was calling DA:O fans naive... I don't think Gaider would insult fans of his own game, he was just being as honest as possible as to not get anyone's hopes up, which is a nice thing for him to do.
Now, I do hope we can openly disagree with Hawke. My first inquisitor will be a way less radical mage than my Hawke was, and she's not going to like my Hawke's over the top 'ends justify the means' pro-freedom stance. If the option to bash heads is possible, I'm sure that will be happening.
That's my dogs name!
Mine too! Except not really.
