Obviously I'm not going to like it if that's the case. But since I'm gonna buy the game because I love Dragon Age world, I'll have to deal with it. Maybe the rest of the game is glorious and makes me forget about this, ahem, little "treason" to (some part of) Origins fans.

Why don't you give it a chance? Who knows, maybe DAI will redeem Hawke's character in your eyes.

Since Origin's fans are regarded by devs as vestigial or naive (example)

That's not an example of what you just said.

Then let's not judge the final product just because of X or Y appearing or not appearing. See the game for yourself and see what becomes of your decisions and other stuff. Asking the developpers to give you everything right away is just going to spoil your fun of discovering a new game.

Well, I have many issues with the game right now, the last one being "Hakwe". I was...dissapointed by how things had developed all these months I was out the forums. When I read that particular post and the official confirmation, it was the final blow after many. I didn't expect it.

I don't deny the chance for Inquisition to be great. Even DA2, a game I don't particularly like, has its moments for me. But certainly I'm not very fond about many of the things I've read until now. I'm sure many people love all these new elements... and I understand it. But I don't, and I don't think it's bad that people who don't like them voices his/her opinion at the forums.

Yeah, that would be the best solution to this. Hope you're right. I doubt it... but I hope you're right.

I understand your disappointment. I was personally hoping for the Warden, Inquisitor and Hawke to be working together to save the world. THAT would be a dream there. However I just think that the developers felt that either it'll be hard to put the Warden in (they'll be far harder to integrate than someone with a voice and stacked personality like Hawke.) or his/her story is finished. Hopefully Morrigan or Leliana or whoever references them heavily in DAI......

After meeting Hawke:

Cassandra:  That's not how you described him

Varric:  I may have embellished a little...

Cassandra:  And what's that red thing on his face?  A birthmark?   A scar?

Varric:  Nobody knows, seeker.  Nobody knows.

XD that **** is awesome, i really hope its in the game, good job, you really made me smile :D

You can ignore Hawke all you want. Doesn't mean (s)he is going anywhere.

I'd like to suggest the term Mawke for Male Hawke and Fawke for Female Hawke.  Now who he's a Mawker and who here's a Faw.... oh, wait.  I might see a problem with that.

Probably not. Bioware loves to think of Hawke as their Shepard but it's never going to catch on.

Yeah. I mean Hawke is better than Shepard after all, so the comparison will never really work. *hides in a fall out shelter under his desk* :P

Do they? I always thought of Hawke as their Hawke...

Hawke is their Shepard? I'm sorry but Shepard is Bioware's Shepard and more to the point, Hawke is the PC in one game and an important character in another, they do not have a trilogy devoted to them.

So including Hawke in a game is your definition of treason?

Sounds like someone needs to take a step (or twenty) back away from video games for a while and experience the real world.

I'm not sure excluding the Warden from DA:I means the devs hate the Warden. That's kinda silly to insinuate imo. The way I see it, if my Warden were to appear as an NPC, that would mean his voice actor, appearance, dialogue, and decisions would all be defined for me by the devs. Or at least, any options they might provide to let me define those aspects of the character probably wouldn't be enough to really preserve his identity as my Warden.

From my perspective, I love my Warden because of all the choices I made when playing as him. If those choices and those experiences had to be compromised in any significant way (And if you think about it, they probably would) simply to get him to appear in a game where I wouldn't even get to play as him, then I think Bioware is doing me a favor by leaving him absent.

I guess it was up to the player to make Hawke awesome or not. I for one am glad I'll get to see the sarcastic douchebag again, both male and female versions.

Since Origin's fans are regarded by devs as vestigial or naive (example), and Warden absence is confirmed (it seems DA franchise has to move forward, but hey, let's bring Hawke again beacuse you know, she was so awesome), will be able at least to ignore Hawke's quest or whatever she does in Inquisition? Or her quest/appearence/cameo will be unavoidable?

I don't like her and it would be cool that players could ignore her appearence without consequence.

Hawke- You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain. I can do those things, because I'm not a hero, unlike DAO Warden. I killed the Dragon Age Franchise. That's what I can be.

David Gaider- No. No. You can't. You're not!

Hawke- I'm whatever Thedas needs me to be. Send in the game review for DA2.

David Gaider- They'll hunt you.

Hawke- You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me. Set the fanboys on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes, the truth isn't good enough. Sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.

*Hawke runs off with the fanboys flaming him.*

--------

Dragon Age Fan- Hawke! Hawke!!! Why is he running dad?
David Gaider- Because we have to chase him.
Dragon Age Fan- He didn't do anything wrong.
David Gaider- Because he is the hero Thedas deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Champion of Kirkwall.

Maker, I hope not. In fact, I hope the Inquisitor poses for a portrait, and Hawke paintingbombs it.

As an origins fan i am insulted by this post and thread.

The OP is filled with LIES, there is no evidence provided that the devs regard Origins fans as vestigial nor naive. And lets be clear this is an outright lie not just an opinion but something said deliberatly to deceive the reader.

Suck it up. Hawke is more important to the mage/ templar conflict than the warden.  And given that this conflict is at the heart of the story being told its only reasonable to expect Hawke gets more screen time than the warden.

I hate these threads because I think Origins is by far the better game and don't want to defend DA2, but logically DA2 is the more important game in terms of its impact upon the mage templar conflict.

I got absolutely nothing from Gaider's post that suggest that he or any of the devs have low opinions of Origins fans. What is this poppycockery?

In any case, these threads are silly as hell. Even if you could ignore the Hawke quest, the devs are not likely going to dish anything about it, or any other juicy little details. You'll just have to spend your rupees or wait until others have done so to find out.

I've changed my mind. I'd like to see a cameo by the Warden. I'd like to see him attempt to communicate via sign language and blinking in Morse code. Maybe he could put on a puppet show! That s**t will be a riot.
