I'm used to having un popular opinions but this is something I really want to put out there

I loved the Leviathan DLC, the atmosphere was great, the bits with EDI were fun and the whole investigation and solving problems bit I found to be awesome.

Is anyone else hoping that ME4 has more bits like that? Some real head scratching mysteries to work through, cause not enough games give out 'Conspiracy Theorist' Trophies

Yes.  Leviathan was one of my favourite parts of the trilogy.

Moreso for the sense of mystery and diving into the unknown than the detective stuff, but I liked that too.

Well, i admit, i liked the Leviathan-dlc... but at the same time i was a bit disappoointed with it as well.

First: Yes, the atmosphere was good and the investigation was something fresh and new.  I enjoyed this feeling of following clues and getting closer to the truth about a mystery.

But what i did not like so much was this backtracking. Having to return to the same lab and clicking the same hotspots for clues again felt rather lazy and took quiet some speed out of the story. Like: Hell yeah, i made it all the way to this point! I wanna go further, NOW, and follow the trail while it's hot... but therefore i have to go allt he way back to the starting area at the citadel...

And what i also didn't like was the fact, that the climax of the dlc had no impact whatsoever. Yes, you found the Leviathans and learnd everything about the Backstory... but that had no kind of aftereffect on the main plot. It did jack sh*t and so, the whole adventure felt pointless and not bedded into the universe.

What i do hope is, that ME4 (and i will keep calling it ME4, bioware, even if you don`t want that, until you tell us, what's the subtitel) will get some ocean-planet with underwater-levels like in the dlc. A shame, the developers didn't do more with that.

I agree that the Leviathans' impact on the war seemed a bit underwhelming in the end but, to be fair, the mission still had just as much impact as the climax of any other arc in the game - war assets.  It's hard to make that argument against Leviathan without applying it to the rest of ME3.

You could even say that Leviathan had more impact than other story arcs because it at least changed the dialogue with the Catalyst.

Maybe, but we're talking about the leviathans here... the ultimate power in the galaxy before the reaper came... so i expected a bit more form them, than a mention in some dialogue  and just simply adding to the war assets.

Yes you can argue, that a dlc content should not alter to much in the main-game and i would not say you're wrong.  But still, since the role of the leviathans is this important for the whole plot of the ME-series, it's too underwhelming and like the prothean, it should have been part of the main-game and not a dlc. I would have prefered them instead of the catalyst.

Yeah the atmosphere and puzzle solving aspects of Leviathan were fun.  As was being able to keep your squad involved.

Story, though, not so great.

The puzzle solving aspect would definitely be something I'd like to see come back. It's not so much about point and shoot as it is observation and clues, some critical thinking elements. It was definitely a refreshing change of pace from how much running around and shooting went on in the series. I get that video games are expected to have combat, but I think there's a lot of good use in allowing there to be variation in gameplay, in ways to resolve things on occasion through examination of your surroundings. Not every time, of course, the gimmick would get tired quickly if they did that for everything, but something that allows us a variation on gameplay? Yeah, I'd love it.

For the record, I agree that Leviathan and From Ashes should have been part of the original game and not DLC!
