Just a shot in the dark, but @bioware, any possibility that there might be a day one 1080p update similar to other games? Or dlc to optimize us?

its not a deal breaker for me, but I know so many are upset, so I was just curious if there are any plans. I remembered hearing an interview where you guys haven't maxed out system resources, so thought there might be a little hope.

thanks for your time,

TG

Not official BioWare here, but they've said that they've optimized it for each system:

https://twitter.com/...628704616407040

There are several threads here and on the net discussing why the XBone tends to get 900p when the PS4 gets 1080p. As I understand it: while it's possible to force 1080p on the XBone, that incurs framerate drops, so in order to maintain a locked fps you can't push it past 900p. (Microsoft reportedly forced Blizzard to push Diablo III to 1080p, which caused the framerate to drop by almost 10fps in busy areas.)

But I'm not an expert -- this is just what I've gathered from this forum and others on the web. Cf. this article: http://www.eurogamer...rmance-analysis, in which the author expresses a preference for 900p at a locked 60fps over 1080p at a variable framerate. Now I realize that DA:I isn't Diablo III, but perhaps the mechanics are similar.

Question is, is it really all that much better at 1080p? My brother has a PS4 and it has fallen into the same trap as xbox games for me. After a while the graphics, no matter how great, just kinda become normalised in my mind that you don't really notice how good they are. Also I could never tell the difference between the two resolutions, and neither could most of my gamer friends.

If it works at 900p do we need to push it higher just to make it a little prettier? Just my thoughts

exactly, I dont think another 180p is going to make a huge difference and watching Xbox videos of it, still looks amazing. I only made this post because of the comment that bioware made stating they haven't reached the potentials of the systems. So thought maybe more optimization could clean things up....maybe. But to me, I'm still playing and pumped regardless.

Also, I can tell the difference in some games, but not at all in others.

Yea yea, I hear ya, PC master race...gotcha haha.  But I am a gamer and I will play on everything ;)  I don't limit myself to 1 or the other, I play EVERYTHING!  ;)

But yea, your probably right.  Eventually I will bring out the big PC and hook it to the big screen, right now, its my Xbox..so it wins for the time being ;)

900p vs. 1080p barely matters to me, but my boyfriend sees the differences instantly (like even when someone hasn't listed the specs). Whether it matters depends on the player. I still prefer 1080p when given the option (and since I prefer the DS4 too, that makes making PS4 my "main" platform easy), but I don't think it's a big difference. I don't feel the game will be inferior on the XB1 or anything. If it weren't for my controller preference (the XB1 controller is still too big for my hands to hold for LONG sessions like I plan for DA:I over my Thanksgiving break; maybe someday they'll come up with a more compact version), I might have gone XB1 for the EA Access save continuing over since you save more on the game than you spend on Access. I'm still kind of bummed Sony passed on that deal.

Seriously, this game will look and play awesome on both next-gen systems, it seems. I wouldn't worry.

I have an Xbone, but I'm getting most future games for PC now. Don't blame the developers, like Bioware, for Microsoft's game console that isn't that great at gaming. I realize you're disappointed, but when you start asking for "dlc to optimize us" that really pisses me off.

I'm sick and tired of exclusive DLC. Isn't Xbone getting "premiere content" first anyway?

I can't tell the difference between 900p and 1080p. Besides, the consoles are already getting behind with the development of 4K and Apple's 5K.

My advice: save up for a PC :)

The OP already stated he/she has a PC. Just wants to play on the XB1.

Since there is unused potential with the architecture of the XB1 (and it likely will almost never get used outside of exclusive games, unless something changes), it's not unreasonable to ask if it would get patched in future. Diablo 3 was patched, and that's how it went up to 1080p (sacrificing frame-rate, though, I think). A patch is not unheard of. I seriously doubt it will happen, but not sure why asking about it would tick you off. Patches to optimize on various systems are totally reasonable.

I'm not being hostile, except for the "I'm sick and tired of exclusive DLC."

Which I really am, but that's another story.

XB1 hasn't been managed properly, my advice: save your money while you can (unless you want exclusives)

I changed that to "ticked you off" because hostile was too short. I didn't mean it fussy. Sorry. I was referring to where you said asking "pisses me off" per se. I don't get it. Why not want the system to be optimized if it could? I want all the systems to continue to be successful. Competition benefits everyone.

To be fair, though, I have every console and a PC (2 PS4s and 2 PCs in the house so the BF and I can play games on those two systems together online) so I guess I'm lucky enough not to be bothered.

I have all three newer consoles (2 of the PS4s, actually, for the BF and I to play Destiny on back when we liked Destiny, but it's been good for other co-op games and many of them we only need to buy one digital copy to play co-op on two screens) and a gaming PC (well, 2 of those too, in the house actually, but one is new and one is circa 2010) myself. The PC gets the least use by me, but the most by the BF.

I don't mind exclusive DLC myself (not even buying DA:I for the XB1 for the timed exclusive though) and I certainly don't mind patched updates to improve other people's game experiences on alternate systems. I want all the systems to continue to be successful. Competition benefits everyone.

No, you're good! No apology necessary! (I can definitely see my words being misconstrued.)

What is the timed exclusive for XB1? Is it just the EA thing? That's no biggie if so.

Patched updates are good no matter what, unless it's Bungie, and you're nerfing half the game.

Getting off topic: Destiny was fun for a couple days, and hit rock bottom from there..idk why.

Apparently the Xbox timed exclusive dlc is only for the first singleplayer one, according to clarification from devs on Twitter.

May I get a link to that?  I've heard something to that effect.  :)

Yea Fizzie, I TOTALLY agree with you about exclusive DLC's, it drives me crazy, like Destiny getting a year exclusive before xbox, and vice versa on other games.  Being a gamer, we like our games and if we are lucky enough to buy all systems that's one thing, but to make us wait while others are playing, and we are ready to pay, when we want to use one machine specifically or don't have 2, then its a pain in the butt.  But I know why they do it.

With that said, the update or patch to 1080, although would be xbox exclusive as you say, really wouldn't BECAUSE everything else already has 1080p, so they won't need it ;)   AC Black flag did it, Destiny did it, as well as others day 1 1080p patches.

I don't anticipate this one getting that, just thought i'd throw that out there hoping for some more clarification or possibilities.

As for a PC I do have one, an nice one, beefed up all rebuilt and shiny, but its on little screens in a tiny den, like I said before, I would love to go hook it up to my 65" in my man cave area, but I do like my consoles and giving them chances for now.  Down the road im sure I will have DAI on my PC too lol...im a dork like that ;)
