OK--so i beat ME1 and have an end-game save on an MU..bought an HD unit last year and copied my end-game save data and player profile onto the HD from MU. THe new game+ file only shows up on the MU, not the HD, as has been established.
My question: Can i just import onto ME2 from the MU then? From what I've read, earlier reports about not being able to import from MU are wrong, but I'd like to get offical confirmation. I have no saves leading up the end---deleted all those saves from the MU yrs ago to save space--so would I not be able to load up the HD end-game auto save (which cycles you back to the fight w/ saren) and just beat the game again to get the new game+ option on the HD?
Finally, if I'm able to to import and play from the MU, do I have to move my gamertag from the HD back to the MU. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I hope my inquiries are clear. THanks!
another ME2 import question

According to the FAQ that Bioware just released, there should be absolutely no problem with importing off of your MU.
Also, I'm pretty sure if you just load the last save before the end and beat it again that would work too, because I noticed that after importing the files to my MU from my HDD I couldn't start a new game+, but after doing the final battle again I could...
I have no idea about the whole gamertag thing, though... I can't see why it would matter, but don't quote me on that.

You can import from the MU.
You can also just load a save close to the end on the HDD and beat the game again thus creating another end game save on the HDD.
Your choice.

^^^^Unfortunately i have no save files besides the end-game save that cycles you back to the final battle. Does this mean i would not be able to create another end game save after beating the game on HDD? And not to repeat myself, but if i use the MU import must I transfer my gamertag from HDD to MU? Would that matter for achievements?

There is a difference between the auto-save before the final battle and the special end game save. The special end game save you cannot see on the Xbox's dashboard. It is somewhere deep in the xbox's file system. That is why it won't get moved with your other save files and gamertag. The only why to check if you have one is start a new ME1 game and select exisiting ID. If this option is available and you can choose the character you want to import than you are good to go for ME2.
Also, it doesn't matter where your gamertag is - MU or HDD either is fine. You will earn achievements normally.
You can choose to import from the MU and then save everything else to your HDD (I would guess). But just to be save. Just move everything you have now to your HDD and load the normal save before the end (or auto save just before the final battle). Beat the game again (last fight) and check if you have a special end game save by starting a new game and selecting exisiting ID. If it shows up your should be fine!

Thanks for the info, and for the quick response...I'll probably just go w/ MU save at this point and keep the file on MU. There is an "existing ID" option w/ my Level 48 Shepard saved on the MU, so it sounds like I'm ready to import. Is there any info about how big the ME2 file is gonna be? ME1 is less than 1MB so i'd assume ME2 is around the same.
