Talon Merc: build
Use AP-Arrows for smaller enemies and spam Cain Trip Mines for spawns and bosses. Here is a video with some gameplay.
BF3 Soldier: build
Shoot enemies with Venom + Incendiary Rounds to prime them for a fire explosion. Then detonate it with Carnage. If you hit the enemy with a Frag Grenade while the DOT from Carnage is still active, you can detonate an other fire explosion. Here is a video with some gameplay.
I've always had trouble finding good builds for the other characters as well. Barrier spamming build for the Krogan Shaman is fun, but not that effective.

BF3: skip fitness completely, equip claymore with AP ammo. AR for damage and bonus power, frag for pretty much anything you want, carnage too. Find a big, armored target and go claymore -> AR -> claymore -> carnage -> frag -> claymore. Pretty much nothing survives.

Talon Mercenary - Arrow big armored enemies. Shoot smaller ones to stun, then arrow them. Spam Cain mines at spawns for killstreaks and pissed off pugs.
Krogan Shaman (Barrier blast build) Acolyte->detonate barrier. If they survive you can either warp or shockwave for boom. Warp->Shockwave bosses for monster damage.
Ex-CerbGuard (you could use the Venom instead) Charge->Smash if able. Shoot if not. Rinse and repeat. Throw in some heavy melees for some flare.
Ex-CerbDept - One of the best adepts in the game at chaining combos. Singularity->Smash->Biotic Boom->Smash again (primes)->Singularity detonates->Biotic boom. Singularity->Lash->Biotic boom on everything but armor. Singularity->Smash->Biotic boom on anything. Shoot->Lash->Fire explosion. The only thing he doesn't do is long range biotic detonations on armor.
BF3 Soldier - Glass cannon. Adrenaline rush gives you some needed DR. Carnage->Grenade for fire explosion and good CC. You could also use a Claymore and really chain some nice damage together (See Deeber's post above).
VolGuard - Charge to close the gap and detonate fire explosions. Shield boost to stay close and regen shields. Reegar to face. Snooze. Keep in mind all Volus have cloak for light melee, and it has two cooldowns, one while walking or standing, and another while sprinting. So you can walk->light melee(cloak)->start sprinting and when cloak runs out light melee (cloak) again and you'll cloak immediately. When that cloak runs out, stop sprinting and light melee to cloak again. You can be invisible for the vast majority of the game. That plus charge and Reegar makes him hilariously tanky.

Volguard: add Batglove, go nuts. BF3: Disruptor ammo.
Talon Merc: does not compute.

Show me sometime, bro. I tend to skip Adrenaline Rush a lot, but this might be a better way of playing the bF3 Soldier.

I'm pretty sure the most important answer anyone can give you is to grab that little guy... and the Batarian Gauntlet.

The best value in AR is the one point at the start. Beyond that, diminishing returns set in once you have 4b, because by then you have like 8 seconds of 70% damage boost, which is getting on to being comparable with Tac Cloak. So one could also go 46664. Taking full damage on grenades and passives at 4a and 5b makes the frags pretty awesome and the fire explosions are pretty awesome. Didn't someone just post a clip showing that in the "5 seconds of damage" thread?

Yeah but rank 6 bonus power is very helpful on the BF3 claymore build cause it allows you to double tap the claymore and unleash the carnage+frag combo right after that, which results in the... Carnage you see in that video
And yeah Kobe, that video is what I'm talking about and what made my mind about it, actually. Skipping fitness and not having any cyclonic or bonus to speed makes you a true glass cannon, and being used to AR replenishing your shields (in my case, cause that's the way I play the Hsol) while it doesn't on this build makes for a very risky playstile, but it's well worth the price of wiping the floor every now and then. Against reapers especially, and collectors somewhat, this guy can truly wreak havoc.
You know I can't play anymore at the moment, but I'd be glad to show it to you when I get my new PC

The best build for the Talon Merc is no build at all. He's the reason airlocks were invented.

That would be the Lolreegar. But yeah, Talon is a close second.

I go with health over lash and recharge over dps on singularity so he's less squishy and my still involves casting singularity a lot.

Reegar at least requires you to be standing somewhere near the enemy you want to instantaneously gib.
Why the Talon merc even bothers to leave the shuttle is anyone's guess. "No time for aerial bombardment" my jiggly quarian arse.

On the other hand, you can't stick the Talon merc on just about any character and turn it into an unfathomable melting machine that makes me puke just at its thought.

I would also add Venom Drell Guard. Put incendiary ammo, choose bonus charge, spam those wonderful grenades and have fun.

Not arguing with the value of AR at higher ranks, just pointing out that sharing the points across AR and fitness is viable.
That PC is definitely approaching mythical status though. ![]()
