1. The blogger cuts off the second part of Vivienne's character description, i.e. the description of Vivienne's actions instead of the precedent of her position.

3. Vivienne isn't hypersexualized, a statement that comes out of nowhere. If you believe such, kindly explain how.
4. If Bioware made her interesting and complex, why in Hell's name would they attempt to obfuscate that in the party banter? Are you sure it's not just your opinion that she's shallow and materialistic?
5. I confess, I had no idea that "black women don't grow hair" was even a trope. Of course, she does have hair, it's just short. But she wears that damn hat all the time anyway.
6. Fantastic, your "update" section was the only one that had the glimmerings of a point. I will grant that the "sex object" thing is true. To answer the other part, though, I'd have to know what race you thought Josephine was and how that was handled.

OK if that's what you think, believe what you will. But I still think it is unfair that Vivienne isn't available for a romance option. Vivienne is the only female character in DA:Inquisition that is hypersexualized because of her revealing outfit that shows off her cleavage and her outfit is tight to show her curves like they did with Jacob who wears a tight outfit to show off his body. And my mistake for false grammar hey everybody make mistakes and the link to the tumblr page isn't even mine by the way. As I said before Josie is a woman of color she's a Spaniard with Moorish blood if that answers your question, as a matter of fact Josie and Viv have one thing in common: You can't make love to either of them. I don't have any preference for being able to romance Vivienne or not, but I did find it a little odd that reason she gives for shooting you down is that she suggests there would be no benefit for her in being in a relationship with the Inquisitor. Surely it would be an especially politically advantageous position by the end of the game.

I never felt a desire to romance Vivienne. Physically, she's beautiful. No denying that. Her personality on the other hand... burrr... She is just too up tight and proper. She is all about image. She would love you as much as she could use you. Up until the moment you become politically inconvenient. Even after the man she supposedly loved died, her first thought was how best to politically maneuver his children. Nooo spank you. There is no passion to be found in that Ice Queen.

The real reason why that they don't want Vivienne as a love interest, because they don't want no one to romance a black woman, "Look but don't touch." But I don't see what's the big deal of why they want to do that. If they don't want to have her then don't put them there. I think she should be a love interest to show her vulnerable soft side if her character, and not just be friends and not make love to a black goddess. They're doing us black gamers a disservice.

I did. I made nothing but black men and women characters on Dragon Age series but I still want to romance Vivienne with my male character, and it's unfair that they didn't make her a romance option. Sexy ass Vivienne.

Some of the forumites are modders. Maybe they'll be able to come up with something? They made it possible to romance Loghain, for instance.   And some even made a full-scale romance with Ser Gilmore.

 

One mustn't lose hope. I support BW creating more amazing dark-skinned ladies - and gentlemen - that this time can be romanceable in the next installments. Many people wished they could flirt with Ser Barris. A shame it wasn't possible.

Do you have pics of your black characters, so I could see what you would consider yourself a black woman, except Vivienne ? Since you said you created many. There is variety among black people as much as there is variety among white people. I don't agree at all with dismissing Josephine. I have family members who have the same features and the same skin color, with the same hair... They are much older as well but still...

*deep sigh* I am well aware of the varied hue of people of color. While Isabella and Josephine may be of color, they are not of African descent. Vivienne is the only playable character you can't romance. That is my point. Vivienne is obviously African. Why is she not a romance option? THAT is MY point. Sheez!

I don't recall you voicing a complaint about Cole or Varric being a romance option. This thread isn't about that. Maybe you should focus on the topic at hand. I understand the subject of race makes folks uncomfortable so they try misdirection and change the subject. I am sorry if you are uncomfortable. If it makes you uncomfortable maybe it is an issue you should address personally.

No - dude. You just need to accept Vivienne isnt a romance because of Bastien and Trepasser was too short for a romance anyhow. It had nothing to do with her Skin color. And it's not personal to that person; they are making a point about why you weren't complaining about the other non romancable companion that everyone (including me to an extent) was sad to not be able to romance due to that dratted Bianca. Yeah; it's not an misdirection it's a point well made about another non romancable character who people did want to romance but couldn't, just like Vivienne.

Not or won't? Most folks are content in their comfort zone. Never daring to step out and view the world for the perspective of the "other". I have Caucasian friends, Native American friends, gay, lesbian and transgender friends. I make an effort to know them. I want to see the world from their perspective. I want to know them. And I've come to love them. My friends have made my life interesting and exciting. For me, now, there is no " other".

Unh-huh. They didn't have to write in Bastien. That drafted Bianca has been around since DA:II. They chose not to have her as romance option. I never read about anyone clambering to have Varric as a romance option. He's sidekick material. Don't want to see him naked.
