Frankly, she comes off as a snooty biitch to me, nothing to do with her skin color, I don't know why thats even an issue, let alone a big argument, girl is snotty with her address me as blah blah, la ti da, that put me off, I don't want to romance her, I'd like to let Serah kick her butt seeing how much they argue.

Not if you are someone with African or Arab traits where hair is concerned. Its natural aspect is dark and curly. Which is why some italians born in the South have dark eyes, dark and curly hair and olive skin, for example (see the Muslim conquest of Europe in the Middle Ages). 

 

And if someone reads the statement above as racist, then I'm sorry to say that person has a racist mindset. I won't even bother to explain why.

If you can't be bothered to read the thread, I'll summarise the content of N7Phantom's arguments for you then, ModernAcademic:

 

"Why can't I have sex with Vivienne? I want to get some of that that hot booty. The only reason we can't romance Vivienne is that BioWare don't want us to make love to a hot African lady. Oh and by the way Isabela is a disgusting filthy Jezebel character."

 

The clear implication of all his posts is that BioWare didn't let us romance Vivienne for purely racist reasons.

 

If he'd been making any kind of intelligent coherent argument about the lack of non-European-looking people in the game world, then that would've been different. There are such arguments to be made as you point out. Sadly, we've not seen them in this thread since he necroed it..

You misunderstand me. I have no interest in demoralising anyone. I stopped posting in this thread once it became clear to me that N7Phantom had nothing productive to say, and I was trying to make clear to you the reason why.

Vivienne is a beautiful woman and that's why many would love to romance her. I would rather my Inquisitor  romance scout Hardin.

 

The reason is simple.. Vivienne is already in a romance  and that makes her a red flag. I also think she would be extra high maintenance that the average Inquisitor could not afford.

Do you have pics of your black characters, so I could see what you would consider yourself a black woman, except Vivienne ? Since you said you created many. There is variety among black people as much as there is variety among white people. I don't agree at all with dismissing Josephine. I have family members who have the same features and the same skin color, with the same hair... They are much older as well but still...

But I'll send you some of mine whenever I get the chance, and dude don't jump into conclusions. I'm not dissing Josephine I liked her as a person and all, but the romance with her it's so boring. I'm just dissapointed that Vivienne isn't a romance option, when I first played the game and saw her I wanted her as a romance with my male Inquisitor. Romance options are limited and boring on my tastes.

No, it's not because she's black. Isabela is black, Josephine is black, and yet you persist. You do realize I'm a black girl that looks white, right? My dad was a black man while my mom is white. So don't go around claiming racism when their are those types of people in existence. And yes, I am claiming just becuase you look white doesn't mean your not black either. I believe Josephine was said to have been based on Latino/Latina people, wasn't she (which is probably a gross oversimplification, and of course there are black Latin people)? I could be wrong though, but some of the fans I've interacted with have said they don't see her as black (themselves being PoC of all sorts) and I vaguely recall statements that were of the vein of saying she wasn't intended as being black

 

I'm not saying people can't take her to be black though. Just that I've heard a range of opinions on her, and I'm fuzzy on if there were canon statements on what race she was meant to be, in terms of representation. But if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
