Why? They like Viviene. Judging from you avatar, are you going to romance Sera which I assume is your favorite character?

Ambitious and fabulous? Yes, I'm quite upset that Vivienne isn't a love interest! Even more so after learning who her voice actress is. ![]()
Finding out she wasn't available was heart-breaking. I play, predominantly, human characters only. Elves from time to time. Almost never anything else. But I'd have been a dwarf if that's all she was available to.
Alas, I suppose I'll have to settle for just being in love with Dorian, Josephine, and the Iron Bull.
I agree with you! It's been discussed extensively but I would have preferred her to the other available LI's for Straight males. To me it will always be wasted potential. They claim that it makes sense with her story so we'll see. They have to come pretty good though as betray, disappearances have been done!
This is your first post so you don't know, but many, many people have commented on it leading up til now. It would have been 2 options across the board like in DA2 and for straight men and women DA:O, but this time there are a couple of extra romances.
But still 2 options. Leliana and Morrigan; Merrill and Isabela
2 options this time are Josephine and Cassandra.
Heres to the next game having a 6:3 split party of 6 women and 3 men and maybe they will keep it even or every other game will change if straight women or men will have more LIs. I get that it is frustrating to have less options than someone else, but it would be nice if you noticed that often women have had less options in other franchises, and that lesbian and gay gamers will probably always have the short stick. Someone who can be dissapointed, but not feel entitled to more, and people that can accept having less occaisonally with grace are really, really appreciated.
This kind of thinking has problems. No one should have to feel left out or shortchanged because of past incidences and other franchises. That has nothing to do with Bioware or their games. I don't get the mindset of wanting someone to have less because they are used to having more so that they "feel" how someone else feels. It's extremely childish in my opinion. I've had many challenges in my life and I've never wanted anyone to feel the despair or hurt that I've felt because they haven't been through it.
"You must feel as disadvantaged as I felt, because its only fair!" Is what this its saying and it's ridiculous. It is not my fault that the majority is typically catered to and well since the majority is where the money comes from it makes sense doesn't it? You never make a product only for the minority, you'd never be successful! I applaud Bioware for their attempts to include everyone and while I understand that typically females feel shortchanged in other games that is not the case in Dragon Age, they have never had less than males in this franchise. Actually if you count Sebastian in DA:2 they've had more! And well now in DA:I they have 6! (If female bisexual elf).
Not that I'm hating on females, my point is that no one should be left out, far less for the population that these games are marketed to. Saying there are 2 like before is kind of weird also. Considering the scope of DA:I I expected everything to be bigger, and more expansive. They have done so much in terms of the world and scope that I thought it would have translated to ALL aspects of the game. Bioware is obviously mindful of the fact that their core fanbase loves and looks forward to the romances which is why the lack of additional options was/ is a shock to the others. Though I'd assume that they have expanded the romances that are there so if I decide to romance Josephine I how it will be superior to their past efforts.
But I still remember the week leading up to the LI's reveal! We were so convinced that they were going to reveal Vivienne! I even drafted the (according to the info at that time) "perfect" split! LOL
It was Vivienne being bisexual. In that way the split would have been. (And a random surprise of Blackwall being available and bisexual)
Straight Males 3 : Cassandra, Vivienne, Josephine
Straight Females 4 : Cullen, Iron Bull, Solas, Blackwall
Gay Males 3 : Iron Bull, Dorian, Blackwall
Lesbians 3 : Sera, Josephine, Vivienne
That would have been better for everyone in terms to options but I know that a lot of persons complained about everyone being bisexual in DA:2 so as result in DA:I it was changed. But in reality its 2 for everyone except straight females who have 4. And 6 if you play as a female bisexual elf. But I get resource limitations and making everyone bisexual is double the work! But what is still weird to me is that if the extra time was there to add two romances one could have been made available to someone else.
Bisexual Vivienne would have balanced things out. Though unequal options then for gay male Inquisitors. Maybe bisexual Solas or Cullen and no Blackwall if we are going with equal choices for everyone. Or no Solas or Cullen and bisexual Blackwall.
Fanfiction and Rule34 is there for you.
Though, for what its worth, I am with you on Vivienne not being a LI.
Not a problem for me...so long as the story makes sense on why she isn't an option.
Politically incorrect to say but...
You cant romance Vivienne because she's

Bu-t-t-t-t Solas is bald! why does he get a pass!? Does he have fade hair? Dream hair doesn't count!
For some reason I remember reading something about Viv being married already, but maybe it was wrong. This was a few months back.
Because you don't have enough class.

Being bald is a taboo by its own merits.

Not in my book; he doesn't!
Bald people are immoral.
Mr. Freeze, Lex Luthor, Vic Mackey, Bane, Thanos, that bloodmage in denerim, the slaver from Tevinter, Henchman#3452.....All bald. All bad.
OP I feel ya, I REALLY wanted to romance Vivienne but for whatever reason we can't, honestly Bioware better give us a damn good explanation.
Viv:

Why? They like Viviene. Judging from you avatar, are you going to romance Sera which I assume is your favorite character?
Point. Missing it.
Vivienne is not a romance and there are probably many reasons why she's not. Probably inquisitor isn't her type. Probably she doesn't want relationships atm. Or has already a relationship. Etc etc.
The fact that people demand an explanation is creepy enough and that's what Vapaa meant. God forbid one character doesn't want to bed you.
Also, what do you mean with Sera? Sera is a romance. Vivienne is not.
I would have preferred Vivienne to the other two females as options, mostly because I like the option of romancing mages. To romance a mage now, I'll have to step out of my comfort zone and make a character that I have never made before. An elf.

And if Sera wasn't a romance I wouldn't throw a tantrum and demand explanations, I would simply accept the fact.
Sure it would've been nice to have Vivienne as LI, but it's not happening, the end, let's move on, I don't even need a "story reason".
Count me as someone who would have loved to have seen Vivienne as a LI. However, I'm really only interested in for a f/f romance. I'm not really loving the f/f options so much. Sera seems fine, but might be incredibly irritating and bratty. Josephine might be okay, but I need to see more about her. Vivienne would have been perfect and would have solidified a f/f playthrough for me.
All that being said, I really need to play the game first. Who know? I might end up hating VIvienne once I get to meet her.

How is Sera irritating and bratty while Vivienne is not?
How is Sera irritating and bratty while Vivienne is not?
Because Vivienne does it with style.

Because the word used to describe Sera was "bratty"......
Because Vivienne does it with style.
Also, this ^. I'll take bitchy over bratty any day of the week.
You guys forgot she is an orlesian "circle" mage. Circle mages don't have lovers, unless they are done secretly.
Another fact is that she doesn't want to draw attention as the lover of a leader - The Inquistor - which might be a hindrance¿? to her position as the offical mage of the Imperial court.
Because Vivienne does it with style.

How do you distinguish them?
I wonder if there is some kind of in-game justification for her unavailability. Probably not, but it would be a nice addition.

They're just curious for an explanation that's all, I don't find it creepy in any way. I don't find the OP throwing a temper tantrum as you see it.
