My Warden drank the potion from Wardens keep, why cant that allow her be able to stop the calling, have children,(I want everything.) Also IRL I have been married for 22 years and am happy, with 4 older children and step children and have a full time career why cant I have that marriage, family, children and career in my game choices as well?

I must say, I cannot fathom the fascination with having kids in a video game. I am not saying it's wrong to want it, I just don't understand why.

Personally I don't see why this is so fascinating to people, but unfortunately Female Warden having children is first, near impossible to not-holding-my-breath chances and that's assuming Alistair or Zevran was romanced, and second, even if she did, do you think raising children would be on her mind? Female Wardens are known for their darkspawn slaying, blight stopping skills, not their baby-making skills. On the other hand, Hawke having kids? Perhaps, but that's only assuming that Hawke chose a heterosexual relationship, and even then, if Lady Hawke chooses Anders, you get the same problem with the Female Warden.

As for Alistair/Warden, I doubt it. Children with one Warden involved is tough, two is next to impossible.
As for my Warden, she romanced Leliana. I'd be very, very concerned if such a thing happened.
Yeah but alistiar does have good "Genetics" when it comes to being able to have a baby while tainted.
he would probably have a better chance with anora though.

Because we all want to live out our fantasy in games and other media and experience things we can never have in real life.

My big issue with this is that it would be a decision that BioWare makes for the player.
In DA:O, the player chooses to go through the dark ritual or not, or BioWare tell the player that they've had a child cos they were sleeping around in game at some point e.g. Mardy.
This was never something that came up for a female Warden.
If there was an option in the Keep were I could say 'and then the Warden had a baby' then I'd be all for it, because then I could make that choice for my Wardens.
If BioWare decided to do this, I'd also expect the option of adoption for any gay Warden.
Of course this would make it more difficult for BioWare to have cameo's possible LIs in future games. If its not handled correctly the LIs could all look like dead beat parents.

I don't mind, however I would put a few caveats on that.
1) No making babies to save a life.
2) No more OGBs. The whole thing was fairly silly.
3) It remains optional.
I personally do not want to deal with children in a DA game. However, I'm open minded to the choice for the most part. I'm trying not to be too picky, but I'm usually fine with new ideas like this so long as it doesn't directly impact my game. If folks want that for their game, I see no issue with that.

When was it said that Warens-are sterile?I honestly don't recall that in the games.
It's the whole crux of the OGB situation. Morrigan needs someone that hasn't been Tainted for very long in order to conceive. That's why she couldn't ask Riordan (the older Grey Warden) to do it. She'll mention as such. ![]()

No problem. And yeah, when you get right down to it, being a Warden does rather suck in a lot of ways.

Especially agreed with number 2. The whole sex or die thing just had me facepalm.

Mine won't. She is with Leliana so that would be hard to do.

You're not alone. Thankfully, the rest of the game up until the ending made it for that, but that wasn't the most elegant move by the DA writing team. I do give them a lot of credit for originality though. It's a cool enough idea, but I think it sounded better on paper than how it played out imho.

Same here. A couple of mine are with Alistair; one is with Leliana; and another is dead. ![]()

Yeah. I still feel dirty when I pick it
poor Alistair.
Agreed. Hopefully we won't have to do that tango again.
And I don't think my elven mage mistress reaction to pregnancy would be positive. ![]()
Well not initially anyway. I don't think Anora's reaction would be pleasant.

If we did have kids, I wouldn't want them in the main part of the game. Maybe towards the end, you could tell your partner that you're pregnant before the final battle or close to it, and the Epilogue will have something about it in there. I don't want to have my main character dealing with a baby while she's also trying to keep the world from falling down around her ears.

Saving the world is easy.
Parenting is hard.

I am not sure this is something Bioware wants to take on, it does nothing to further the story in DA:I and I could see a few people viewing it as taking away agency of a woman's body from her, as the player never decides to get pregnant. A symbolic lose of agency of a woman's body is not something bioware would want just to give fans a nod to a 5 year old game. It doesn't further the story, it doesn't add anything to the world, we already know that people have children so it doesn't add realism, its a realistic thing that can happen but it happens in thedas all the time we see mothers and father everywhere so adding an ex player as pregnant doesn't actually add something to the narrative.

However, if my memory is correct, it works with Alistair who has been tainted for a pretty long time as the game started... But it is true that for Riordan it wasn't possible.

sure but at least having some informations about what the children became after the game may be interesting. There are in fact two of them I remember: of course Morrigan's but also Oghren's in DAA...In DA II, I have no memory of a plot about a child, don't you?

Alistair had stated that he had only been in the Wardens for six months at the beginning of the game. That's why it worked; it had been about maybe a year to a year and a half since he was made into a Warden by the game's end.
Riordan had been Tainted for years and was nearing his Calling when he went out like a boss trying to take out the Archdemon. ![]()

Yeah. Unfortunately, Bioware doesn't want to do marriage or children in their games.
Not to nitpick, but that's not true. There have been several Bioware games where you can have children (BG2, DA: O, and SWTOR, though I'm not positive on this last one) and I think at least two in which you can get married to some of the LIs (SWTOR, definitely sure on this one, and BG2, not sure on that one).

In SWTOR many of the romances lead to talks about having children. Possibly almost all of them.
