Here's a stupid question:

Can a demi-sexual check out their partner's erogenous zones after establishing a strong emotional bond and later having sex?

I don't fully understand what you are asking. Anyone can check out another person's erogenous zones.

What is demisexuality?

All these are rather confusing.

The OP explains it. Not able to go into detail right now.

Isn't everyone demisexual?  I've had sex with a gay guy because we were best friends and I've had sex with women because we were best friends, and ya know straight guys for the same reason.

I think maybe people don't realize that's what we all are, just humans in drag.

Were you sexually attracted to them, or other people, before having a strong bond with them or after?

How's that different from any other person though?

I think Hanako means that for you to be demisexual you can't have primary attraction. Ie if you ever fell in lust with someone at the first sight you are not demisexual...that's what I understood anyways.

I'm still not sure how the game can portrait it in a way that a player will understand, unless you know....stickers on forehead and all that.

I don't really see flirts as "attraction", at least not all of them in DAI had such context. For instance my telling Bull that I'll protect him felt more like a joke that fell flat, than anything else.

It isn't. It's just people wanting attention so they give themselves a special label.

In this case, it happens to be a label literally invented on the internet with no actual psychological or scientific basis.

This reminds me of the whole "headmate" community on Tumblr and other places online. One person starts and says something dumb like Loki and the 9th Doctor live in their head (as in, literally live inside their minds, with their own personalities and everything), and then other people join on board and say similarly idiotic things. People who are pro-PC and stupid jump to their defense with "well, there's a lot of people identifying as X and Y, that means they're legitimate identifications!" completely ignorant to how absurd the entire idea is, because a bunch of people engaged in group think makes it accurate and legitimate.

Only here, you're taking something that every single mentally healthy human being on the face of the planet feels (sexual attraction after having established a romantic connection) and restricting the label to only fit a handful of people, for the sake of being different. It's bullsh*t is all. Bullsh*t made up by a girl on a role-play forum in 2005. I would guess that, since being LGBT is cool and trendy now in social media, people feel left out, so they take a made-up label and apply it to themselves to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack.

You really may as well be asking for Otherkin and Furry representation too, because those are about as dumb and have about as much merit as demisexuality.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the concept, but I don't see how this could be represented in-game any more than it already is. Isn't every character in the game already "demisexual," more or less?

It's already the case that people can and will fall for your character regardless of physical appearance as long as you behave a certain way towards them. Someone these, like Josephine, are also pretty uncertain of their affection towards you until you make a direct effort to be forthcoming. Hell, Josephine also doesn't have any sex scenes, if that's an issue.

I don't really see how what you're requesting is any different than some of the options already provided.

I know,  but this thread needs a bit of lighting up. If you think about it...otherkins could be abominations, we already had this type of romance in DA2

For those against the idea or concept, can you please go away rather than be mean? Or at least be constructive.

Can't we just have a fun game without all this, Just play RPG's for fun anymore?

This Romance and Drama is what causes 90% of the issues on BSN and the Romances in game are getting so convoluted its not fun anymore for a lot of customers..

If you are this Demisexual then i'm happy for you but do we really need more dramas and discontent in gaming and these forums...

I remember when rpg gaming was fun not a soapy drama..

Actually the Furries were near poisoned at their convention this year.  No lie.  I'll find the link.  Someone put a deadly chemical in the air supply hoping to take out all 5,000 of them and it only made local news in Chicago.

How's that different from any other person though?

In some cases it's not. I'd say roughly 99% of people I've met who claimed to be Demisexual were literally just normal to prudish people who don't feel any sexual attraction without serious emotional connection. There's nothing special bout that, a lot of people are that way. In a society that still sometimes ostracizes the idea of having sex without being majorly connected to someone it's normal for people to grow up feeling that way.

However I do believe demisexuality does exist. While I personally have only ever met one person I'd consider to be possibly truly demisexual I have read and heard of people who likely are. In the case of the one I've met I don't even know if I believe she is to be honest. She's had a very strange past and a very very sheltered upbringing that led her to have almost no social skills to the point where she could develop an intimate connection with fictional characters but never with a real person.

So while some may say that demisexuality isn't real I honestly don't believe its our place to judge.

I don't necessarily believe that every single minor blip on the sexuality spectrum needs representation though, it just isn't possible. There are so many of them and such a huge variance of people to try and satisfy...it's just not realistic. Most people go their whole lives without ever meeting someone who doesn't fall within the main 5-6 categories of sexuality. How realistic would it be for every single category to be represented by a character our PC meets? I'd say at least space it by having representation for some in one game, more in another, etc.  Putting everything in one game would be too much for the writers and they'd likely do more harm than good.

I think people make too big of a deal with labels and sexuality.  I know gay dudes who have had sex with women while we were showering, I mean, when they were showering with their female roommates.  I know straight guys who have let gay dudes go down at the gym and still think they're straight.

This whole label business is not inclusive, but exclusive and divisive.  It closes doors instead of opening them.

I recommend anyone and everyone watch Bedrooms and Hallways.
