There have been personal insults thrown at various posters. 

 

The only people who throw personal insults in these sorts of arguments are the SJW side.

 

Neither Zobert nor I have said anything personally insulting.

If you are going to go to conferences, do online chats, etc promoting this character then flesh him out.  Make him a companion with a story.

 

They don't have to do that all the time when adding a new character

I'm absolutely hyper-pro LGBT.  In general, I'm hyper-pro equality, period.

 

And I agree that "arguing" with me won't help anything.  However, having rationale, mature discussions with me about your viewpoints are fine.  I like to think that I'm one of the most reasonable people around here.  I have no problem agreeing to disagree.  However, I also have no patience for flaming and trolling and insults and whatnot.

I assumed you meant something more than "simply include a character of this type in the game" when you said "advocate", because that would make Bioware an advocate for a lot of things.

 

I've never seen Weekes "talking himself" up over this. I've seen him write an article because a lot of people were commenting on this, and I've seen him say thanks to people who said "thanks for including this character". And I've seen accept criticism from people regarding this, and opening ask how he could improve. So I'm not really sure what you mean here. 

 

Even if he did do that - that's outside of the game, and has no bearing on actual game content. Thus, is irrelevant to how the game deals with Krem.

 

 

...which is make Krem too small to a character to understand transcharacters in the context of this world and have a graphical representation which was somewhat poorly conceived given that we already have that "hair" as a female, that voice actress is used for other women, and with women warriors all over the game it isn't apparent who Krem is or how he is a male.

 

I would have preferred him to be IN the game and important if they are going to introduce and supply the trans community with representation.

why is everyone so obsessed by companions sexuality? Bioware isn't forced by nothing to include lgbt at all. It's not like those 4% of population gonna make a difference in sales. The chose it cos they wanted. They even have homosexual who like to play with dead bodies and make them "move on their own". What more diversity would you like? There is not 500 companions to cover all possible combination you can come up with

The problem is that people are going to clutch their pearls about whatever approach they take:

 

* Introduce a sexual minority character that is a supporting NPC - "TOKENISM!!!!!!  PANDERINGZ!!!!1!!!"

* Introduce a sexual minority character this a major NPC - "MY THROAT!!!!!  WHY ARE THEY FORCING THIS DOWN MY THROAT!!!!!1!!!!!??!"

 

Damned if they do; damned if they don't.  Some people love to be outraged.  My 'ignore' list has been growing because of it.

 

The solution is simple: add more both supporting sexual-minority NPCs and major sexual-minority NPCs (the more the better). And let them fight one another, while we enjoy these characters ourselves.

 

And yes I am tired of these SJWs. Social Justice Mages are much better.

They also don't go on Reddit to discuss the addition of every new character or do interviews--are you seriously saying that Bioware wasn't "proud" of this character?  They were attempting to advocate for the trans community by releasing Krem.

 

And before you decide "who" I am and "what" I'm saying I have ZERO problem with transcharacters or ambiguous characters.  FFS we have dragons.  I'm saying if you are going to do it, DO IT.  Don't ***** foot around, don't stick a toe in, dive in and give us a character.

And that's a completely valid argument to make.  What Weekes did/did not say on Reddit isn't.

 

What's the problem with the VA/body though? Krems is trans, so he is male, but has a physically female body as he hasn't undergone any way to change it. So the model/voice fits.

 

(I know very little about this type of issue, so if I'm saying something incredibly ignorant/rude, somebody please shout at me)

Actually, Bioware is very smart to do so.  Women and the GLBT community were under-represented in games and having carved out a niche market, they have a loyal market.

 

I like having games the represent people, I'm just saying that it would be impossible to sub-catagorize and please everyone, and that if you're going to add a character that is not represented yet--do it right.

Maybe we're all a little calmer after the kerfluffle, so my point is that there are too many people in this world for everyone to be represented and sometimes the time, the graphics, the opportunity is not such that you can please everyone or to do the character/story well.  In that case, better not do it than do it poorly.
