Three years ago, 2012 Helvescient was as Liberal, Progressive, and LGBT-supportive as a human being could ever get. Then 2012 Helvescient grew up. I've seen the other perspective, I've defended it, I've entrenched myself in it.

But I grew up.

Wait, there's an age limit? Was I supposed to turn into a conservative on my thirty-fifth birthday last month?! Dammit, I knew I forgot to do something while I was updating my health insurance.

It well expresses my anger with the SJW ideology itself.

Wasn't meant as an attack on any individual or individuals at all.

Never did I say that.

Well perhaps you should have considered it more carefully before posting.

Considering you and Dave seem hyper-pro LGBT, I doubt arguing with you will make you see any form of reason.

In this post you specifically pointed out 2 people and said you didn't think they could see reason because they were pro-LGBT.

Well perhaps you should have considered it more carefully before posting.

This is a major reason why I'm so fed-up with the SJW movement.

You have to watch your words. People get offended at the flip of a coin at absolutely everything, and even when you mean no offense, you have to watch and analyze every word you say to ensure it offends no one. This is what being "progressive" and PC costs you. It costs you your own freedom of speech, and it forces it to end where others' feelings begin. Freedom of speech does NOT end at others' feelings or sensibilities, and I'll be damned if that right gets revoked. Insulting people is one thing, finding offense in non-insulting words and asking the speaker to change it is a different matter entirely.

I meant nothing insulting, and if you saw it that way, it's your fault, not my own. I'm not going to carefully censor what I say when you are intent on finding offense in it. If you don't want me to keep talking about this, then stop asking me to.

Well you did also say that pro-LGBT people can't see reason. I fail to see how anyone could think that ISN'T insulting and dismissive.

I don't recall him saying that, but then I don't sit on each and every post.  Just look for interesting avatars and read their posts.

Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequences. Consequences may include people judging you on what you say and disagreeing with you.

Which is fine.

Requesting me to censor my views and speech is not.

That's my fault, not Sandal's.  I asked and opened that particular can of worms.

I am anti-PC myself.  The "She-Mail" and "Trannygate" fiasco for RuPaul's Drag Race killed it for me.  Ru's over 50 and as a black male cross dresser and drag queen for 30+ years he had self-identified as a "Tranny" and caught ten tons of **** over it.

He has always weirdly been my idol.  He's like on Voltaire level of philosophy as he equates life to the the Wizard of Oz and all of us wearing the shoes that get us home, we just have to experience enough to believe they'll take us there.

He said once that we're only offended by words if we believe they could be true.  People who know they're smart don't get bugged out over being told they're stupid and Bar Rafaeli wouldn't care if someone told her she was ugly.  So how we perceive a word has to do with our ownership of ourselves and our egos.

The dude is seriously like my Bodhisatva, anyway, I'm not PC anymore.  I think Elton John, for example, is bogus complaining about synthetic babies when he snarked that Madonna bought herself an African baby like a new bag or said that she looked foolish at her age dancing in underwear....suddenly though all of us have to boycott a company who makes clothing whose single item purchase price is more than a Guatamalan family makes in a year.

I mean if that's not frickin' rich people problems...ooops. Sorry on a roll.

Continue on

Right on.  That's why I think that government should get out of the speech market and let us all just judge the **** out of each other.

You are the one who started with the antagonistic demand of OP taking their thread and going home.  Then it snowballed from there.

If you didn't push, I wouldn't have pushed back.

Like you said, try to see things from another viewpoint.

See the viewpoint of someone who's subjected to PC bullshit every day and who sees nothing but censorship, SJW progressivism, and Liberal nonsense in every facet of the media and social life. Then see someone petitioning for this same level of SJW progressivism to take over one of their favorite games of all time. This petition which has been made hundreds of times for Bioware and supported by countless Bioware fans. Try to be one of very few people left out there at all fighting against the SJW movement and the annihilation of free speech and free expression. Try being the one who has to deal with often being judged as a bigot or as a hateful phobic when trying to defend free speech.

I think you'd be just a LITTLE upset too.

True but I'll admit I have been over the idea of including every subcategory and very hostile and bitchy this whole thread so you can be angry with me, too.  :(

I think there are more "Furries" than "Demisexuals" so seriously at what point do they call it a day on pleasing everyone?  We will never get a new game at this rate.

Yes, I'm an evil horrid person.  I admit to that.

Fans have asked for something they would like to see in a forum Bioware specifically created for people to post about things fans would like to see. No one has "taken over". No one is "petitioning". No one is demanding. Find me one place the OP has done any of that?

No one has banned free speech, or free expression. No one has tried too. A few people just posted about something they would like to see.

So you are tired of LGBT people wanting to be treated the same as everyone else?  No, dear, it's not about entitlement. That's just you trying to belittle the push for equality and to turn it into something that is threatening to 'take over' every facet of society etc.   Your previous comments of "shoving their sexuality down my throat" is telling.  If I drank, then I would have taken a shot after reading that.

LGBT themes are not "taking over" Dragon Age.  The games are still about fighting evil and saving the world. BioWare is merely telling the type of stories they want to tell.

To quote RuPaul: Other people's opinions of me are none of my business.

People always know what they get with me and it's best so that it's all out there.  So people don't like your opinion...that's their opinion.  It's nothing to you.  I don't care a million times over about anyone's opinion except for my personal kryptonite (the boyfriend).  I was totally 100% doing my own thing until he showed up and his opinion mattered.

Damn you beards!!!!!!

What was I talking about...?

Nitpicking, but this isn't really a freedom of speech issue. No one's rights are infringed upon if a more sensitive audience is triggered into action over something you may have said. Dr. Laura tried to push this idea when she lost her radio program over her n-word rant, but that lady was wrong.
