Will caption option for follower discussions, noises etc be available? I always have to have a family member tell me what is being said if I want to know whats going on behind my characters in games that do not offer captions.

I hope so! I'm (mostly) hearing but I always always have subtitles on in games and movies because I have trouble hearing/parsing spoken words without either subtitles or watching lip movement (and with banter between followers I always have to stop and turn around to read their speech bubbles in DAO and DA2).

Bioware is very good about having caption options for dialogue and background dialogue (aka banters, NPCs chatting, etc). I don't think there will be ambient noises subtitles like [brooks babbling] or [dragons roaring] though. I have hearing problems and I find Bioware's options always help me out enough, althogh of course it will vary depending on your specific needs.

This is actually how I found out about Bioware's games, I found them on a list of companies recommended for accessibility for people with hearing problems. :)

Ah, see, I found this a godsend, because so few games even have that! It would be cool if it was easier to do in DA:I though.Haven't watched enough of the released footage yet to tell.

It'd be nice if they gave the option to have banter subtitles show up at the top or bottom of the screen like normal dialogue subtitles would. :) Don't get me wrong, I'm totally grateful that the DAO and DA2 had the speech bubbles, but yeah, sometimes it was frustrating if I didn't turn around fast enough and I'd miss the first part of the banter. :)

I support this for all of the above reasons and for people who don't have a problem with hearing its nice to be able to turn off the sound and still be able to know what is going on. I recall doing this more than once when gaming.

Most gameplay videos didn't have subtitles on, but I'm reasonably sure I saw one that had banter show in subtitles at the top. I'm gonna try to find it but there are so many out now.

As a deaf gamer, this is incredibly important to me, too. Bioware is pretty good about it-- I have found that if I get a little too far ahead of my companions, I lose the subtitles. Some games don't have any background subtitles and I end up missing so much if no one is in the room with me. If my hearing aid is in and the room is completely quiet, I can slightly hear music, and some tones and sounds, but unfortunately, voices seem to elude me.

I really am glad most controllers vibrate when a battle starts or a bad guy comes upon you, or else I usually end up dead before I know it.  :P It's good to see more game companies taking measures to help deaf and hearing impaired gamers, but ambient subtitles seem to be something only a handful of games have. I hope more will come.

Okay, here we go, after 9:00:

The subtitles for banter have indeed moved to the top of the screen, so no more stopping and turning around.

YAY that's PERFECT! Oh, I'm excited now. This will make things so much easier/nicer (and especially for people who are deaf/more hard of hearing than me)!

Yep, I'm happy as well :D I'm ESL and sometimes can't make out a word here and there, especially in banter and with all the different accents (and my laptop's shitty speakers).

Also, OP: we did see a [disgusted noise] in a cinematic so there sure is some help for hearing-impaired people.
