WHile i think the game is a major set back, i wouldnt compare it to being a nation that condones slavery and blood magic
Regardless of your feelings on slavery and blood magic there's no denying it makes Tevinter strong.

Ummm a bit of a random detail especially since i never denied that in the first place
I am surprised that nobody blamed the blights because I do after all the Tevinter empire declined after the first blight and the continent had to fight 4 more blights with the last being the easiest to defeat but the previous ones were a pain.
In 8:70 Blessed, a war between Nevarra and Orlais over the control of the western hills around Perendale resulted in Nevarran victory. However, Orlais proceeded to sow dissent and rebellion among the locals in Perendale, who resented Nevarran rule
Perendale was a city taken from the Orlesians along with its surrounding territory
Perendale near the fields of Gislain?
The border region between Nevarra and Orlais.
Honestly Nevarra picked a horrible target. Just from a logistical standpoint its a force within a hostile territory they have to keep under their control, outfitted and have to be prepared to aid if it is besieged, i wish them luck keeping it in the future.
Sure they won a bit of land, a single city but they also extended into a country that can easily repulse a force coming from there.
But sure, they won a victory against Orlais, But i would have to disagree with your assessment of its "surrounding" territory, considering there are several near by Orlesian cities, that aren't under Nevarran rule, all they did was box a section of their forces in a hostile power.
Honestly these people are supposed to be good at war.
We know little about the context surrounding their motives for taking the city and small areas around it, I wouldn't make any conclusions based on vague detailsPerendale near the fields of Gislain?

Orlais is too decadent for my tastes. I wouldn't mind seeing it humbled, but I dread the possibility of making their civil war worse.
I had a story idea that was inspired by the Friends of Red Jenny. What if the political power of Orlais was secretly influenced by a sect that used demons to enforce their schemes? This has been happening since before the Blessed Age. Aveline's chevalier father and his patron lord discovered this horrible truth and secretly fought to end it. But the patron lord died in the battle while the Friends of Jenny sealed away the demons used by the sect. One of those vials held a revenant that used to be one of the sect members. Aveline's father wanted to expose this conspiracy but knew the scandal would hurt Orlais. At worst, the Divine hersef would be forced to declare an Exalted March on Val Royeaux. So he was forced to remain silent and became exiled to Ferelden. Orlesian politics was replaced by the Grand Game, but those still loyal to the Du Lac family know the truth.
One thing I would like to know is how much the mage-templar war and the Breach has affected Tevinter. If they got more power from other mages or if they lost power because the templar left and things like that.

I do not think they suffered as much their templars are still doing their job there of course if they wanna do it. Tevinter is like the Eastern Roman empire who was not very powerful military but on their capital armies broke. For example the qunary took everything with the exception of the Tevinter capital because that city is very very hard to take. For example most of the exalted marches failed because they could not take the capital.
