VGchartz? Really?
Ah ok then. We have nothing more to talk about here. Your argument is astonishing.

Are you actually making the argument that VGchartz has a history of accuracy? Regardless it doesnt change my point, there is nothing to show that the combat mechanics was the selling point.
Edit: There is a reason it is banned on neogaf

I have no clue what neogaf is.
You asked for number I gave them. About accuracy, read closely the post and the quote in it. Judge for yourself.

Not going to derail this thread any more.
Any argument which relies on pretending that DA2 sold as well as Origins is a losing argument.
Yep I'm a DA2 fan but there's no doubt it sold signficantly less for whatever reason, so I don't know why some have to be so argumentative. Their arguement should be DA2 undersold and the changes in DAI are an attempt to recover from that.
if necromancy and blood magic are both out on TOP of healing? the mage class will have been ruined IMO. had a blast in both previous games as a mage (the single redeeming value of DA: 2 was blood magic for me) this just becomes another generic hack n slash RPG to me, no taking a chance here people, EA doesn't want to risk a cash cow
I'm pretty dissapointed in the lack of skills for every class. It's just more annoying since i've always played a mage and mages in DA:I don't have as much variety as they used to. It's pretty much all AOE damage i'll also never understand why Knight-Enchanter has a healing focus and Necromancer has Haste...seems like they should be switched.
I feel reasonably sure that the reason there are a distinct lack of skills, only one specialisation allowed and the level cap is pretty low is because there will be at least one more game with the same protagonist and they don't want to do an ME2 style reset to the PC in an attempt to keep things balanced. I can see the next game allowing another 15/20 levels and another specialisation, with a plethora of new (old) skills and spells added. Hopefully we'll see a Keeper specialistion, I'm the first of my clan, goshdarn it.

That was my immediate thought on seeing those specialisations. There doesn't even seem to be a good in-game explanation WHY necromancers have haste.
Every aspect of DA:I combat was a huge letdown and was drastically inferior to its predecessors. Especially with terrible decision to focus on low damage autoattacks instead of casting spells. And even the spells do piddly damage.
I forgot to have some conclusion about this mage spell number topic.
Let's say mages in DA:O and DA2 are too OP, and this new game fixes that. Nuff said.
How exactly were they too OP? Mages are supposed to be artillery. That's why they are so feared. But in this game they did less damage than archers...So who should people actually fear? Probably Sera over Viv.
