It was a very short non cinematic very depressing conversation after the Tevinter herb and chantry mission and anders sort of broke up with femhawk but he's like the only good romance for femhawk sorry for my weird explanation of this but lol I need this cleared up oh and why does anders wear the renegade coat now? I did a paragon romance.

Really?  I thought Anders looked like a weasel with his greasy, unwashed hair, mismatched dark-colored whiskers and pointy chin.  Eh, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  

Admittedly the romances in DA2 weren't nearly as interesting as Origins, but I managed to complete Fenris, Isabela and Merrill's.  Even with mods I could never romance Anders.  More of a personality conflict than his appearance tbh.  I almost didn't do Fenris's romance either, but Gideon Emery has such a nice voice.

OP, as long as you completed the mission (both finding the ingredients and distracting the Grand Cleric), Anders shouldn't have broken up with you. Are you referring to the scene where he tries to give Varric his pillow and then tells Hawke he loves her? That's not a break-up, but more of a sad type of goodbye (in my opinion), as he doesn't expect to survive the coming events.

 

And if you completed his Justice quest, he automatically switches to the black coat, which I prefer. If you didn't complete the quest, he should stay in his original outfit.

 

I personally favor Fenris' romance. I've romanced all of them (both friendship and rivalry), but Fenris is definitely my favorite. And as sylvanaerie said, Gideon Emery's voice is divine.

 

On a side note, I actually saw a horror movie last week with Gideon Emery in it (Train). It was a horribly awesome B horror movie (which I love), and seeing him in it was awesome. Although I think my husband thought I was nuts because every time Gideon Emery spoke, I squealed "Fenris!" It was great.

Can't expect the man to look like a prince when hes essentially living in Darktown with Templar's prowling about searching for apostates, and with a Knight-Commander who has obvious anti-mage agenda under her shoulders.

 

When I play as a male Hawke I can't seem to not romance any other companions but Anders. He's the only character to whom I find acceptable.

 

Fenris is just too anti mage for me to get into a stable relationship with. I'm afraid that Isabela will give me some kind of STDs from all of the men she slept with, and I don't trust her to to be faithful either. Just look at what she did when she met up with Zevran.. wanted to get inside of his pants. Sorry but no thank you. Merrill... meh!

 

Anders seems to be quite popular among the poor and unwanted that they would fight to the death to protect him from getting captured by Templar's or anyone that they think is affiliated with them.

 

Anders is good in my book and his personality trait is exceptional despite having an extra passenger aboard.

As i said, more of a personality conflict thing.  Won't go into it in depth here. If you had fun running with him, that's cool.  I just didn't.  Even after I changed his appearance to one less physically repellent, I still couldn't bring myself to flirt with him.

I rivalmanced Anders with a pro-Templar male Hawke. It was glorious. I even (spoilers in case you haven't finished yet)

got him to join the Templar side with me and it was so sad and tragic. And even though it doesn't officially complete the romance, I actually prefer that ending to the mage side one. He says some pretty sweet things and you actually get a kiss, which you don't in the other side.

Yeah. I like Anders. XD Anyway, I think your question has been answered by now - the black coat happens anyway, whether you're friending or rivaling him.

I have said it before and will say it again. You are a means to an end to Anders and that is a deal breaker for me.
