I saw one instance on the Map where the Dalish were concerned with their First (The Inquisitor). The option of force took a rather aggressive tone that was displeasing to read. Cullen seems as unstable and fanatical as he ever was in DA2. Here's to hoping I am wrong.
Then there's poor Leliana. If I save her from Redcliffe, what else might happen to her instead? I don't want to turn her into a hard edged zealot.
Josephine's diplomacy and connections seem very lucrative....

Inquisitor:..did you kill another bridge builder?!

I got the impression that that follows from their advice. There's a question of how a bridge will get built, and Josephine advises you that you could ask the local noble to build it whereas Cullen says that it can be done easier if the Inquisition does so out of pocket and has their own soldiers guard it. Leiliana has no advice because there's nobody you can strangle to get a bridge built.
That's not advice, that's stuff you could come up with yourself. Sounds like they came up with this "advisors" idea as an excuse to add cullen and Leliana

Or, considering you are leading an army, a totally justifiable decision.

I got the impression that they wanted a way for you to wield world-shaking political power without having to attend to every detail in character. That was always going to require intermediaries, and if two of them are recurring characters and the third is a hot bisexual woman who isn't already in a committed relationship...

Meh, I don't like servants, they're just another word for people who touch my stuff (and given those ones, people I don't like). I prefer managing my things myself than leaving them to others vastly dumber than I am.
Say I want to attack a fort. Leliana's advice is to infiltrate it, josephine's advice is to not attack and cullen's advice is to...attack the fort. What use are they ? The 1st two aren't what I want to do and the 3rd is what I already decided before he started thinking about it. Sounds pretty useless to me.
Luckily I can probably ignore their pointless babbling

Advisors also manage their baliwick in the field.
Which is also not required ? The only branch I wouldn't be good at is diplomacy/politics because I'm not a people person, which is a problem that solves itself, I'm not a people person so I won't use people skills solutions so I don't need a people skills branch

Given the scale of this game, I think you really kinda do need people for the other two branches.

Good to know there are multiple copies of your inquisitor in Thedas.
You know that can lead assassination efforts, military operations and diplomatic efforts all at the same time while also working to close the breach.
Seriously it makes sense to have lieutenants.

1-> I can order assassinations myself, I don't need to order Leliana to order assassinations
2-> What diplomatic efforts ? I don't do diplomacy
3-> I can order armies around personally, besides given what they give us the armies might as well not be led

I would have to see what the consequences of the three approaches are before I can say which approach I am going to use. But judging from the titles of them, I would say I am not very keen on the force approach... Though this is only a name, maybe anything military-related would be force..

Good luck building up forces and allies when no one likes you, thats like trying to be president but saying "im not a people person"

1) I think Leliana is also responsible for training her spies. She is more familiar with her agents so she can decide who should lead the target mission.
2) You may not need diplomacy but the game provide this option for other players.
3) Same as 1) and the military branch may need some generals or someone to report to in field. The Inquisitor is too busy doing other things

I'll probably use all of them, depending on what I think the situation calls for. But I'm betting I'll most likely be using diplomacy more often than the others.

I'd prefer to have a "servant" like Mercy Graves.
"Be a dear and fetch my helm. Oh, and before I forget, have the Navarran spy in the courtyard eliminated."

Secrecy > Diplomacy > Force
It'll of course vary by situation, but that's how I imagine I will prioritize things.
