Somehow I haven't played that one... heard it's one of the best ones though.
I tried playing it on the N64 a while back. Not a fan of the timer though.

Same here, I hate being rushed. I might give it another go though, I was pretty young when I played Majora's Mask.
My favorite Zelda's have been the ones where Yoshiaki Koizumi was much more involved, (Link's Awakening, A Link to the Past), and this is another one of those... still can't believe I never played it.

Damn I'm going to have to buy a 3DS now.
Link's Awakening is my other favorite so I hear you there. MM isn't an easy game. Back when I was younger and attempted to play it, the strict time limit up until you get far enough to learn the song of time stressed me out to no end. Once you pick up the song though, that stops really being a problem.
What I'm really hoping for is that they'll make the Gyorg fight less throw something across the room frustrating.

I was a fan of the GameBoy Color games though. I still have Link's Awakening and the Oracle series around.

My personal favorite. This is about the time the original Red and Blue were in circulation.

Original Red and Blue? You mean the box art?

Nah Pokemon... or maybe it was gold and silver. Can't remember too long ago. But yeah, good times. You had to beat both games and link them to beat Ganon.
About goddam time!
Good to see wind waker, OoT and MM aka the best zelda games get remakes. ![]()
Yay
I haven't played this in over a decade. I remember being absolutely struck by some of the tracks in this game, most notably Last End. I could have listened to that for hours.
And then there was this sexy thing.
Yeah, I'll be picking this up, if only to save cows from alien invasions.
Yay! I've been wanting to play this for a while.
You had me at Majora's Mask Remake -- lost me at 3DS.
Oh well, I have the game on my Wii anyway.
Incidentally, it reminds me I need to finish Wind Waker HD on the Wii-U. The game I always considered to be the best Zelda.
As expected, I'm just as excited as Isi for it. :') MM's is easily my favorite 3D Zelda and has what I consider the best story of the series.
It definitely has the best ambience of doom and gloom- most Zelda games have the towns and cities be utterly removed from the nominal evils and threats of the story, but MM ties the villain to direct harms and immediate threats across the world.
Plus, those supporting characters. Nothing on the scale or depth of Midna or some of the other more recent companion-guides, but subplots like the Romani Ranch, Anju and Kafei, the Zora Band, the Deku Princess crisis... lots of good little stories and resolutions.
MM is the epitome of a 'earn your happy ending' game to me.
There's nothing to be stressed about with the timer, especially with the songs you learn from the scarecrow. Even if you miss something, you can always try it over and over again... as many times as you need to get it right...
I hope this adaptation gets a Master Quest reboot of the dungeons and such- I really want to try the game without the super-easy exploits like the Bunny Hood and double-time. Makes it too easy, especially if you're like me and beat the game five+ times.
man to get into Link's head in this game is the only thing that would make it perfect.
Better than exploiting a time loop for unaccountable villainous hedonism, I suppose.

I feel like that kind of comes out in the trailer... there's a bazillion games with pounding epicness and that's all well and good but this one is just like what's this creepy clock like thing, who are these.... what's this Halloween Mask thing... these deku.. what the heck is going on with that cow?!... Gotta have the bunny ears at the end also. The music seems to accompany that also. It's all refreshingly different IMO. I'm curious how it would come across throughout a full game.

...have you never played MM before? Dude(tte?), you gotta try it. There are so many little things spread around, especially on the night of the third day before the moon drops. Clock Town is the best, because even the music reflects the increasing tone shift, while by the night of the third day there are so many little things as the towns people try to cope with the impending doom.
I'd hardly say it was Bioware-style, but there are scenes there that definitely get to Bioware-levels of 'feel.'
Nope as I was saying I somehow managed not to play that one. Maybe the 3ds version will be the one.
I am interested in it for sure, those things you mentioned are consonant with the other Zelda's I preferred as a result of their weirder stranger tones. Link's Awakening had all the strange townsfolk and the <Spoilers> morally ambiguous quest to destroy all these things that just wanted to live in their own world to save yourself. Link to the Past had you morphing into that freaking bunny, that ocarina kid that transforms to wood.. the whole dark world concept really came from there as I recall.
I wanted to like Twilight Princess but I feel like it's dark in texture only. Still has the best e3 announcement ever though.

That cow scene was strange and epic at the same time.
Then again, the game was ****** epic period.
I spent more time (re)playing this game for countless hours. Probably more than I did with Ocarina of Time. I was also the only person I knew that actually preferred Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time, and for that matter actually enjoyed Wind Waker.
I've stopped playing the Legend of Zelda games after Nintendo announced the Wii, and I haven't kept up on any of the handheld titles past the original Nintendo DS.

I hated being on the third day because I got the feeling that I would forget about the timer while I was doing everything.
It also annoyed me that I would have to go back to the first day instead of doing everything I wanted to accomplish.
Minor OCD issues aside it was very entertaining. I also allowed the moon to collide to see if I would get anything, and this was before achievements became a thing.
