For the side note, I'm really happy to see the Oracle games get some love. I know I'm kind of in the minority there but in a lot of ways I prefer the three GB games (though Minish Cap was fun too) compared against a lot of the series. Link's Awakening was pretty much the first game I ever bought, and played it to death so it will always hold a super dear place in my heart. I really did enjoy the fact that to get the full story of the Oracle games, you had to link them to fight Ganon as Avenger said.
I was ranting at Isi about it last night about it last night but I figured I'll throw it out here as well since it pretty much came up in what Dean said. MM is quite honestly what I consider to be one of the most mature stories in gaming. I know that term gets thrown around a lot in regards to super violent games and such but with MM it's handled differently. A lot of it lies in subtext and you have to read between the lines but some of the examples I typically bring up with this statement have already been mentioned: Romani Ranch (especially if you go to the farm on the last night without first doing the alien quest), and Anju and Kafei's long and quite wonderful storyline. A lot to of the side quests' storylines and the general people of Termina's mentality the closer to the third night you get when faced with their own possible demise are things that younger me never would have truly been effected by. I'm very much of the mind that life experience is what makes the underlying darker tone of the storyline something really special.
I suppose I'll close this gushy speech with the fact that I still get chills whenever I watch the scene in the first time loop, where Skull Kid first tries to bring down the moon. ♡ Agggh. I love this game to pieces, and finally getting the confirmation of the remake brought all these thinky thoughts back up.
