Not really, just a little squishy that's all. Bring some kind of a stagger stick. Also concussive arrows suck ass, AP arrows eat through banshees and alike in seconds.

Cain Mines eat through them (banshees) faster.  You can take one out on platinum by throwing a few at their feet.

honestly i think the omni-bow was what was killing me. just couldn't get the hang of it. specced into both to try them out. ap arrows were alright but the concussive ones totally sucked. seemed like i was missing all the targets. also lolcainmine.

 

anyways, he's just not for me. maybe i'll try him out some other time and work on it but until then i'll stick to my justicar.

Ok but I recommend Falcon better cause you might have problems squeezing in all the charging, discharging, violently pressing that melee key...falcon is all you need really since you already have the uber armor killer. Use the cains to cover your immediate turf, think of them more as booby traps rather than spawn busters

You're doing it wrong.

If you want real easy mode, play vs geth on a level with long lines of sight. Hydra, for example. London's even better.

For gold, a single AP Talon can, without a single cain mine, destroy the entire first seven waves without being shot a single time. I've done it. By accident.

What exactly was your problem with it? AP arrows do 4000-ish armor DPS, plus your weapon. Were you just not hitting enough? I'm always super confused by talon naysayers, because it was the first class that let me do Gold. Seriously, he was so great I put 'The Great' in front of his name. Just use him like a sniper. An engineer-sniper. You'll do fine.

Yeah he's really weapon dependent IMO. Concussive is good when used with other power users, so team dependent.
He's neither the worst nor the best character out there. I'll give him a more serious approach and let you know if I come up with a good weapon power combo.

On topic, the TM is awesome in terms of powers but oh so squishy. To someone who plays a lot of Krogan there's a mindset adjustment needed to really avoid taking hits.

Talon Merc is pretty much easy mode once you get used to it.

Probably not the best spec but it works for me.

 

The main problem is that you need line of sight. The arrows curve a bit and aim themselves but only if you actually have a target lock. So White/Dagger Hazard is not going to be much fun and Cerberus smoke bombs will impair you, too.

At all other times you can just spam Heavy Melee. AP arrows are enough to one hit every mook and if you open up with your shotgun before firing arrows, then Dragoons and Pyros are dead with one hit, too.

 

Cain mines are nice to cut off choke points or for getting rid of bosses quickly, although it takes some practice to place them correctly at their feet. Zooming in helps with that.

 

The Talon Merc only has grenade powers, so cooldown is not an issue and you can laugh at seeker swarms. You can load up all the heavy weapons without a problem but I would make sure you have something for long range sniping because your arrows might not reach (and they don't go through cover). Crusader works nicely for that although on a laggy host you might end up doing no damage at all since both the Crusader bullets and your arrows are projectiles.

 

There are tons of other weapons to choose from but something with an Omni blade would probably be best. ^^

Cain Mine spamming is a polite form of missle glitching, but the Robin Hood build is really fun and powerfull. Forget the Concussive Arrows, just go AP, use a good shotgun.

Yeah, but I prefer to have a scope and some barrel mod on assault rifles, which makes adding an omni blade difficult. There isn't gear for melee & assault rifle damage either.

I also try not to use the same weapons on all my kits, so weapon challenges are done automatically.

If this is about killing efficiency, lol no, for a character who can do thousands of damage in a few seconds.
