Everyone keeps mentioning this supposed betrayal within the Inquisition, also supposedly, from a companion. How and when did this rumor get started, and is there any basis to it at all? Did someone get it from an article? From something a dev said? I've just seen this floating around and I want to know more about it and if I should be prepared for someone to stab me in the back for certain.
What's this about a companion betraying the Inquisitor?

We're all still traumatized by Anders. Better to assume everyone's out to get us so we won't be surprised.
Hopefully if there is a betrayal it won't be so blindingly obvious. Really Anders? Sending people on a shopping trip for things most would readily associate with bombs...? Subtle.

It's completely baseless and idiotic speculation. There's no evidence whatsoever to a betrayal occurring at all.
Okay, that's good to know. I mean, there might be a betrayal in the game, but I guess it's better not to be spoiled for something like that, because it'll make me biased against all of my companions. Paranoia has set in since that whole thing with Anders.

The devs were talking about companions in general, and said that they could even betray you. i'm assuming it means that they get to their crisis point and do something.

More annd more reason to keep my Executioners Blade sharpened and oiled.
If it comes from the game save that Josie betrays me and I was in the process of Romancing it up with her... The Rage Quit will happen.

off the wiki: "According to Mike Laidlaw in an interview with Eurogamer, companions will leave the party if approval ratings are too low, similar to Dragon age: Origins, and it is possible to only have one companion remaining in the end. It's also possible for the companion to betray the Inquisitor depending on the choices made by the player."

Aaaahhh. Okay, People made it sound like someone was going to betray the Inquisitor no matter how much they liked them. Thank you for clarifying that.

I think they did say in the "Choices and Consequences" trailer that if the companion(s) has low enough approval, they will leave your side forever
I, for one, will not let that happen in any of my playthroughs

Its possible there is a character who acts against you regardless of approval/circumstances , but we won't know that until we play, and I don't think they've said anything to indicate that. I also don't think its inherently terrible, just that Anders was handled terribly, so people are understandably anxious around the idea.

I do not know if I should admit this but the thought did not occur to me till after I did the quest. Then I am like 'oh, Anders is making a fertilizer bomb', the Timothy MVeigh of Thedas.
On another note though I don't understand the people who are saying the idea of betryal is baseless. I do recall Mark Darrah saying in the announcemtn of Inquisition going Gold something along the lines of 'and which of your companions will betray you, and vice versa'. Whether it happens or not, or if its part of some grand plot on the writers part or just a simple series of events the player can initiate, remains to be seen.

it might have gotten started by the concept art of the inquisitor and the companions at the war table, because it looked like the last supper, so one of them is judas
i think it was solas who was in his spot. honestly though, if anyone is gonna betray the inquisition i imagine its gonna be vivienne since she is "the ambition", but it could be Iron Bull since he is Qunari (Qunari the religion, not the race.) anyways, the rumor could have started from the inquisition last supper art bioware released.

I hope companion crisis points are more easily achieved. In Origins you had to be pretty darn against them to get their approval that low. Whereas in 2, all you really had to do was never take them with you (thus them possibly turning against you at the end game)
I'd like some more Urn of Sacred ashes or Anvil of the Void moments where if you take a single major action that's completely against their views, then they're gone.

I hate betrayal. But in games like this it's like they said in Braveheart: ALL MEN BETRAY.
Hmm. They should try that in the upcoming Justice League flim. That'll put the edge in their films.

The developers were talking about how certain choices you make will result in a Companion betraying you to protect what they believe in such as how like in DAO Leliana and Wynne will betray you if you taint the Sacred Ashes.
For example, if you decide to kill all Mages then Vivienne will betray you in hopes protecting the mage or if you choose to kill or enslave the elf race Sera may betray you to prevent the Elven race from falling into complete slavery or from being slaughtered by the Inquisition.
Basically you got to perform quite the evil action that goes completely against their belief and reason for fighting in the Inquisition to make them turn on you.

What are you talking about? Who the hell knows what the hell "Sela Petrae" is and what "Drakestone" does? And who associates these with bombs?
According to the wiki: Sela petrae is a crystal powder formed from concentrated manure and urine. Drakestone is a yellowish rock found in mines and dragon lairs.
And who associates these with bombs?

You're not alone. I was very trusting on my first playthrough. "I need your help with a thing I can't tell you about. It involves magic saltpeter and your creating a diversion while I sneak into that chantry I hate." I like to think I'll be more discerning this time around.

Well peoples assume that because bioware often use that in their games so in fact i would be pretty suprised if no one betrayed us in this game.

The first time that I heard speculation that one of our companions might betray us is when the screenshot of all your companions and advisers standing at the war table was released. The one that looks like Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper. Apparently Cole is standing in the place of Judas, the disciple that betrayed Jesus. So some people think that its a hint that he may be the betrayer. That's the first time I heard about it. There is also been some hints given by the devs of a betrayal by one of your companions in some posts and articles, but no solid evidence or official confirmation has been given.
