I don't think it would be believable if all of your companions / advisors / team survived.
If the fade really is a "threat" we should feel threatened at least. :P

Here's hoping for heavy casualties! :D

Hopefully, it will depend on a player.

Horrible war? Terrible enemy? Sure thing. But it’s not a book or a movie – something that we can only observe  and do nothing – it’s an interactive story development. Game of Thrones was already mentioned here. But should certain character acted differently – the outcome could vary.

We do not have a luxury of choosing when we read “Song of ice and fire”. But we suppose to have it when we play Bioware games.

Make it a real challenge. Make it a real hard. Make me do side-quests, make me spend gold, influence and time – but allow me to save those I want to save.

If you played Baldur’s Gate 2 you may remember the following – your beloved one could become a prey (and, eventually, an obedient slave) of a very old and powerful vampire. If it happened, you will have to slay the one you love. It was (if it’s indeed happened) unavoidable. And it was a tragedy. But is this the end? It could have been. Or not. Because it was up to us. You could (on purpose, or by accident) discover a way to save your beloved. Bring her body to an ancient temple, lost in old forest, make a ritual – and you will save her soul, resurrect her as she was before. But it was all up to you – it was a story-optional side-quest, with zero impact on main quest-line. The point – you could do it. If you worked hard enough, if you CARED about this tiny pixels. And we did, oh yes we did. Now that is a true RPG freedom of choice. Not “pick your color of the ending – they are all despicable anyway”.

Or, we can even not go as far as BG2. In DA Awakening,  player could upgrade his castle. He could follow a special quest that would take him deep under the fortress only to discover an ancient dwarven road. Player could block this path (lock up a huge door if memory serves me well). With this and further strengthening your keep, you could save a defenseless city, leaving your castle without your personal protection – because you knew, you made it strong and your people will hold it. And , eventually, if you did everything right , they would.

This is choice. This is freedom. I pray that DA:I will give me similar experience. I have no desire for another “Hawke’s mom” encounter or entire ME3 ending experience. Please, for Maker’s sake, just don’t’

It was a long rant. I apologies.

If they try and pull another stunt like they did with Mass Effect 3, then i won't be buying any more of their products until after they have been released for a while so i can see the whole thing,

These are really competent people, them making such massive mistakes is ridiculous,

Now i don't mind if there is a downer ending for people who make really bad decisions, but the game had better have a good ending for those of us who do our best, and put in the effort,

All that said since from what i hear the epilogue is playable they will most likely have at least most everyone able to survive,

Yeah, it would seem like quite the troll to provide a playable epilogue, but a large portion of the companion/key NPC slots were forcibly emptied by the game's plot.
