Well, seems like someone from EA chief headquarters needs to have a stern word with EA-Russia division and force them to release a patch. If Mark Darrah claims it should be available, then someone has been overzealous. Reverse White Unicorn situation?
Please give people in certain regions freedom to choose an English version

There is an English Language option available when you purchase the game from Origin that you can download. Where did you buy your game?

Availability of English text varies depending which regional version of the game Origin decides to grace you with. The Polish/Russian version comes with no English option. There is an English Language option available when you purchase the game from Origin that you can download. Where did you buy your game?

This topic warms my heart.
Because DotA 2 has made me believe Russians just refuse to speak English, except if they want to share some information they have about my mother.

You can switch the text to English. Go into the options (3rd from bottom) Audio (4th from bottom) Text Language is 2nd last
Can anyone with a Russian\Polish install actually confirm that there is NO 'pick the language' option in the menu?
I mean...have they even looked? ))
Sometimes the most obvious things are so easy to miss.
Bought it on Origin, no English option.
that does not count, Mark was talking about the in-game selection. Has anyone tried to go there?

Well, you have a post from Matterthief on the previous page: http://forum.bioware...1#entry17782840Can anyone with a Russian\Polish install actually confirm that there is NO 'pick the language' option in the menu?
Nope. In fact, there's not even a choice between Russian and Polish, you're just stuck permanently with whichever was picked initially during preload/installation.
this sounds like they're talking about what's in the game...
edit: although if that option is in the Sound menu maybe it got overlooked. It's pretty weird spot to put option for the game text.

I assume this 'option' is not really an option per se..sigh.. well, someone, tell Mark that he's a good man, but has no idea about their own regional distribution policy. ok?
I was almost about to believe that there's an easy way. But since there isn't...hi, VPN.

I haven't started with the Polish version myself but I'd bet a lot of money against any problems with saves happening. Language files aside, both versions are completely identical. The only issue is that everytime on startup there's a check for 'eligible' languages, and those seem tied to your version/product key.
I'm not sure. Those saves are saved on both your PC and synced via Origin Cloud. It might just not recognize the saves since my game could have another ID or something. Anyway, I have to wait till 20th to even attempt a refund.

You could always disable cloud sync just in case and make a backup of your local saves from /Documents/Bioware, I don't see why the new copy of DAI wouldn't recognize them afterwards.

Actually, it would be great to know if're getting the Englishes anytime soon or we should proceed with the whole refund/VPN thing. Would not want to bother with this only to find out they actually heard us and released a free DLC.

I tried to subject myself to zero information before release and even got the release dates confused, but man am I regretting that now... The pre-ordered Russian/Polish version of the game is now sitting in my Origin account like a huge smelly piece of excrement. I am already feeling the terrible translation trying to eat through my hard drive.
I hate to say it, but I will most likely be using EA's "great game guarantee" thing on this. Will use the money to buy it on Amazon or something, like a wonderfully oblivious support person on EA's boards suggested...
Edit: only wow, just went to Amazon and the PC download version is only available for people in the US. So to play the game in English I'll probably have to go to Amazon UK and pay 50 pounds for it... The things I do for you and your stellar writing, Bioware...

2 more days for an official release in Poland. Will it be 'patched' and provided to us before premiere? I'm not a fan to listening to A and rading B, sometimes even E

So, any news? Have someone else with VPN magic looked into the issue? Or maybe got replies from devs?

Only working solution as of yet:
1. Apply for a refund if you have already purchased a locked game (via live chat with EA support, as it's the only possible way until official release). Don't mention VPN or anything. Just say you have purchased the game in a region where you're staying temporarily and you can't understand anything in-game.
2. VPN to Mexico/Peru, open Origin, add the game to bag, before checking out turn the VPN off, check out, get the game. I can recommend VPN Gate + Softether client (just google 'VPN Gate').
3. Enjoy the game as you originally should have.
Note: if you have been playing the butchered version for some time, all your savegames and achievements will be moved over.
This has been tested by few users now.

Not sure refund thing will work for me, since I payed with webmoney, not credit card.
I should have known better than to trust bioware employees promising anything and wait till news of localization locks((( Oh well, I learned my lesson the hard way.

If this game was on Steam, I'd get it there, no doubt about it! Unfortunately, it is not:(

It's not on Steam but it's still available from a number of 3rd party retailers who will sell you the English version. People may whine "but it's expensive!" but it's not like it'd be any cheaper if it was on Steam. If this game was on Steam, I'd get it there, no doubt about it! Unfortunately, it is not:(
