I would love some info on those third-party retailers, actually, because anywhere the English language download is for sale they also go "this version is only available for customers located in the US" when I try to buy it...

VPN-->Mexico, the price is currently same with Russia (can't say anything about Poland, since I don't know their rates). This, or hoping that there's someone to make it English soon enough.

I've been waiting for bloody 2+ years, and there's no way I'm playing in Russian. Nope. Sorry, BW.

 

@demonic_cookie - you don't need 3rd party retailers, you can buy it directly from origin using VPN. Could be even cheaper than retailers. The chaepest DAI  key I've found was 34eur for the standart, and there's always a risk with the unknown sites. Origin is still Origin, no matter the region.

@Nrieh, thanks, I'm going to try this solution as soon as I log in and verify that the localization is indeed garbage... It's just that I resent having to use tricks like VPN to buy a game I want to buy in the language I want it in...

It's not on Steam but it's still available from a number of 3rd party retailers who will sell you the English version. People may whine "but it's expensive!" but it's not like it'd be any cheaper if it was on Steam.

I do not mind the price! But I already bought this game(and I'm not sure they refund the option I used to pay), and do not really want to buy a second version. If I knew they will **** up so badly, I would go to the third party at once. But they were so sure back in April that everyone gets English text in game.

 

As for VPN trick, why should I break the law just to play the game? Should not it be BW's problem to fix?

Request a refund. Those who paid using webmoney are able to do so. I know I did.

3. Russian assets are scattered through data/win32 folder

I downloaded the game with the client in english, and the game is on english with english subs, now i only want to get Spanish subs cuzz my brother can't play with english text. I changed the client to spanish but nothing happens, somebody know how to get spanish text? (the ingame tab only show english and can't change options).

And the installer knows what version you have in Origin right ? So if you have a Russian version it will only unpack Polish or Russian ?

Only working solution as of yet:

1. Apply for a refund if you have already purchased a locked game (via live chat with EA support, as it's the only possible way until official release). Don't mention VPN or anything. Just say you have purchased the game in a region where you're staying temporarily and you can't understand anything in-game.

2. VPN to Mexico/Peru, open Origin, add the game to bag, before checking out turn the VPN off, check out, get the game. I can recommend VPN Gate + Softether client (just google 'VPN Gate').

3. Enjoy the game as you originally should have.

 

Note: if you have been playing the butchered version for some time, all your savegames and achievements will be moved over.

 

This has been tested by few users now.

 

I did step 2 and 3, couldn't do step 1 as I see no way to chat with someone in the Netherlands, so might have to wait untill the game releases here. I played the Polish version last night for a bit, does that jeopardize my refund procedure (the 24hr after playing condition)? Even if I eventually won't be able to get my money back for the Rus/Pol version, I'll still be saving €9,-. Sort of worth it

Are there no language options in the game menu? Other Bioware games have them.

Well, here's my 2 cents. I've tried deleting the entire DA:I preload directory containing the castrated RUS-POL version and replacing it with a complete preload of the international version I got off the Internet. As a result, the game wouldn't launch ("Unable to detect any of the entitled languages...") until I added the ru.sb and ru.toc files to the "Data\Win32\loctext" directory. After that, it worked just fine in Russian, but still wouldn't let me change the subtitle language through the in-game options. I also changed all the registry values pertaining to DA:I that I could find to en_US, but it didn't help. So it seems that the problem is not in the game files, but somewhere in the Origin client. I don't see how we could do anything about it.

 

P.S. Imagine the irony - when the game unlocked this morning, I was offered to download the English voiceover pack as a free DLC. Still no English text, though

So, I did verify that the localization is indeed garbage. Not complete garbage, mind - they have several nice turns of phrase here and there, trying to be colorful and interesting with the language, good for them. Maybe one person in the localization team was trying to do their job. It's just that those moments are in the minority and most of the translation is awkward, clunky, no-you-don't-say-it-like-that-in-Russian tripe. Half of the fun of DA games was the Codex entries. It was the heart and soul of the game for me, and now it's cut out. So, yeah, I'm waiting until EA processes my refund while playing other, less dumb versions of Bioware games...

There are 2 parts to language selection that come into play. One is the the Origin language that the client defaults to the OS language. The Origin client will install the matching language for the game. At this time, all installed versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition will include English text, as well as your regional language. Language selection will be available in some manner within the game.

That's sad. Something like this seemed to work for French version... maybe Russian fonts are the problem.

Fonts are not the problem, language is set somewhere in Origin itself so even replacing the whole game with English version does not work

Someone will find a way for the game to recognise English assets as Russian eventually unless those are also using Denuvo to prevent tampering

People tried that, unfortunately, it didn`t work.

 

Come on, Bioware, you said we will get english texts. Russian translation is B.A.D. There are places where translators didn`t realize there is a double negative and translate the sentence in completely opposite meaning. There is inconsistency with terms, like Power translated differently in the interface and requisition menus, i had to spent some time to realize that those requisition give +1 to Power not to strength, as it was translated differently. It is very difficult to guess what the parafrases will net me, because they are way off. And i don`t even read codexes, because they are ridiculously translated, ugh.... I want the story, goddammit, not this nightmatre.

Did you use a US-proxy to activate?

 

If not, try EA support. They are usually pretty helpful.

No. I foolishly assumed that keys are region-specific. But it looks like they are not. (So, I guess if you activate some cheap russian key using US-proxy you will get a full version.)

Is refund process fast? I'd like to try and buy using vpn but i don't have enough money right now.
