I live in Poland. Can I buy a DVD version of the Inquisition in the UK and still be able to play it? Or is my Polish Origin client going to block the game?

It won't block it. I bought the downloadable UK version and my Origin launcher added (and preloaded) it without any issues.

Still cheaper than 60 €.

EA doesn't care (for now) if you buy the game from another store.

I would rather buy 60$ english version, as many others in this thread. Its not about money, they are just fn stupid. Way to make more money - is to force ppl to pay more for english text, and they will pay, this wont cost ea any effort.

And now I can't load the old saves because I don't have this flame-inquisition-DLC anymore

Mmmm, any clues what to do?

I've just read this thread fast...   but, do we have to work and live in an English speaking country to play this game?

...Alternatively follow long and complex instructions to hack the installation?

Issue this thread is about is that should one buy the game outside a very specific set of countries (determined by your IP address), english text is unavaliable to play in. Unless you follow some not-entirely-in-line-with-TOS instructions.

Did you launch Origin again after you launched the game through Outcome? According to original instruction that is supposed to enable online features (like DLC authorisation) again.

I was talking about VPN rebuying. I can start a new game but I wonder if the old saves can be, eh, saved

Most likely not. Those DLC were part of preorder package, and it looks like your VPN-ed buy was made after the release date in that particular country (or else it'd give you those DLC you lost entitlement to when you used refund).

<Groan!>   :pinched:

- My God!  Doesn't that black, many tentacled monster that lives inside EA ever give up?

...I'm just...      ...numb.  I guess.

P.S. this sets me free from my commitments I think. I've declared that the only things which can stop me from buying this game is EA or Origin. Think I'll do as my good friend xkg, and wait until it's in the bargain bins.

I find it quite unpleasant that BioWare employees find time and will to post in threads of lesser importance, but they cannot answer our plight.

23h 6m until DA:I premiere in the Republic of Poland.

I asked Derek French about this issue and this was his answer:

"Unfortunately we were not able include English text in the RU and PL build of the game. There are a number of business issues at play here and we were not able to do this."

So :(

You can do that through VPN (flyvpn or hola, or another one). People said that they used Mexico or Peru IPs for this.

They really should've warned us - that's what I'm mad about. Both in the forums and on the Origin page with huge letters - no English text.

I got a refund and finally bought an American version for 3000++ rubles, and what's even funnier, it still wasn't working(still Russian only). Only after I downloaded the files kindly provided(.dll and two files for loctext) it did work in English.

In a forum asking for FEEDBACK.  More than unpleasant. Rude. Disrespectful.

Good. Now let's try to refine this method, and eliminate the unnecessary steps. What I've found out so far is:

- Everything related to GDFBinary_en_US.dll is unneeded. You can leave  GDFBinary_ru_RU.dll as it is both in the game directory and in the registry.

- Changing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Locale to en_US can be skipped. If you leave it at ru_RU, the game will launch in Russian, but you'll be able to select English from the in-game menu.

- Files en.sb and en.toc are absolutely needed. You won't be able to activate English subtitles without them.

More testing to follow...

Are they unnecessary for multiplayer?

AND, more importantly -> is multiplayer regionlocked? I.E. are you matched only with people with the other language-locked games or not?

(Some games did that, and I've read that the Russian-locked version of Mass Effect 3 did)

This is a business decision, not technical. I doubt devs would be able to do anything. And the publisher will most likely not consider any changes to the current state of things. So it is either vpn-like grey area solutions or waiting for separate packs on the Internet (which also are not really legal).

Then solve it in the business way. Release it as DLC.

"Pay $5 to unlock English text, you Commies, you!"

I still don't understand why EA, with their reputation of the money-grabbiest companies out there (dethroned now by Ubisoft, of course), has never realized how to make back the money they lose with the region-tailored pricing of Russia. Their traditionally atrocious Russian translations would have people FLOCKING to the "buy" button in seconds.

Yet another full page of questions that are all answered in the FAQ on the first page.

As for the multiplayer, you're matched with people nearby for the lowest possible ping. I have played a few matches, and had to do it with conventional, ignorant Russians. One would think that in a game such as DA:I there could only be intelligent people but... I'm going to use reddit meetup thread to add people from EU to friends and play with them. If anyone here shares my views on this, feel free to add me by the Origin ID - Theoroxx.

The most disappointing part in this is lack of correct information before game release. If I knew that there will be no English language I would not bother to preorder game at all.

Btw, while Russia and CIS is very special case, Poland is EU country. Is it even legal to lock Polish version by EU laws?

Nope, I've had plenty of matches with people all around the Europe. At least they spoke different languages. I've played both PUGs and premades, and

I had ru_ME3 with an installed int_pack.  So, there had been no 'reservations' for the people with the Russian game. I'm sure they try to match people closer to you, though. The only division was by the platform - PC could only play with PC.

@Noelemahc

I can't say how it turns out with DAI, ME3 was only affected by patches and client repair. DLCs did not break anything.

I'm glad that we have those solutions now. People can decide which one is the best for them and enjoy the game just as it had been written.
