So for my next posting, to Bejing, I should just keep Central European region system settings on my computer..... Brilliant!

And how do I get it legally (I understand you dabble illegally - Russians invented the game crack websites by the way so you'll sound condescending to them, just saying) in English with a system that responds/corresponds to an IP in Poland? Should I set my computer clock back 6 hours for East Coast time?

 

I mention a few hassles in my post. Google was reset by a Pole for me. (Loved feeling helpless there Google). Go to language settings? It's not time based. If you don't have it you can download language packs (although they usually aren't for English as that's default)

 

Once you have the game installed it doesn't care where you are (hopefully)

I understand your pain with regionalization, console gamming has not been the same since the nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 came both to my life with its forced spanish localization (Mexican here, but still with you comrades)

 

Please have mercy, don't regionalize anymore, having to play it in our own language sometimes is more a offense than a compliment.

The contradiction lies in all the people outside Russia seeing English in the list of supported languages, while we only see Russian and Polish there.

I guess I'm very lucky living in Finland where games don't get dubbed nor even subbed. My dad doesn't like that there is no finnish subs though since his english skills aren't good. I have been playing games in english from age 6 though so it's not problem to me (and no I didn't understand the english then but I couldn't even read at that moment so it didn't matter ).

 

I think it would be only fair to give you original language. I try to watch everything in original languages, I want my american movies in English, anime in japanese, korean variety shows in korean etc. No dubs for me! To me the idea of dubbed game is so weird, I mean why those dubbers even bother? I don't understand reason of behind dubbing stuff unless it's for children.

I was saying that they should based on what the devs have said.

+1 To this.I live in Sweden so its the same for me although some UBI games have optional swedish text and its horrendous  Unless its for children no ******* dubs

I don't know how this business works among the developers, the publishers and the regional publishers (=those who internationalize the game by adding regional language subtitles and dubs), but I'd imagine that they get quite some profit for the internationalization. Knowing my countrymen, it's most probably so or they wouldn't bother.

Anyway I remember when I was reinstalling DAO and DAII via Origin I think it let me select languages. I definitely had English text and voices for both games, so I only hope Inquisition will be the same.

Not a definite one from a company employee, no. Few people linked Derek's answer, yet, as I mentioned above, Origin is either confusing people or offering them a fully Russian game right now.

You don't say. I've never lived in other countries, yet I managed to develop and extraordinary love for and knowledge of English. The general level of it in Russia is not even disappointing, it's disgusting.

In the DA II PC, it is when you installed the game that you chose the language. I suppose it will be the same this time.

It is mine problem too. And I have read what Derek French said. BUT. It was April back then. And now it is November. EA might have changed something. 

Actually I ask what exactly I buy on origin.com on the techsupport of EA and my answer was (translated from Russian):

 

For Exclusive digital edition of Dragon Age Inquisition on site is written: Supported languages Polish and Russian

It means you can have ONLY polish and russian (voice and text)

 

I send question to Derek but I fear he is very busy right now and don't have time for that. Anyway we don't have good information on the origin.com not in russian not in english. I'm in confusion.

 

PS. Russian localizations is so bad, even if it is only text and interface it still ruins game for me. It isn't shooter. =\

And i sincerely hope that techsupport EA in Russia is like Jon Snow - they know nothing.

Yes we do, but actually it is more problem of EA then Bioware. But becouse on origin it seems you can't find anything - we just walk here and try to ask bioware. And I think bioware may not have info about sales. I just hope they have, or they can point to someone from EA who can answer us. I will be very appreciated to have even negative answer (

I don't think anybody likes dubbing. Waste of time and money, and the end result of mismatched lip syncing looks stupid. IMDB have ran polls in the past certainly corroborate this.

 

I much prefer native audio and English subtitles when watching foreign cinema, rather than cheap local actors who sound horrible.

In answer to my own question above, I did a little research yesterday and I think I found a solution.  Apparently, Origin will choose a localized version of any  downloaded game based on the Origin language settings (located under options, need a restart).

 

So, I tried it out with a Mass Effect 3 demo, and it worked as explained on the Bioware forums: with Origin in English, I got the English version of the demo, with Origin in French got the French one, even though the Origin site text is always in French. Apparently the commercial platform's language is IP-locked.

So, it's not 100% but everybody wanting to play DAI in another language than the language spoken in the country they live in should be good, provided (i) they change their Origin settings (by default IP determined I guess) and (ii) the language is supported by the Origin platform, of course. It's not by any means a definite answer, but, as Mass Effect is both published by EA and developed by Bioware, I guess that is something that could be tested by players in Russia.  After all, why should EA/Bioware make it more difficult for people to enjoy the game experience they want than they did with Mass Effect 3?
