Both can be reapplied.

Not sure If you need to reapply at all, if you use Outcome.

About that second no-outcome version. Am I getting it right, that it's possible to backup and\or share those edited files? If so, it's a good idea to backup the fixed versions (just in case we get a patch or an update, to replace them back asap).

Also, it might be very helpful to share those files with the people who are not too familiar with notepad++ editing. Then it becomes just a mere copy-paste action. Or am I missing something?

I've tested the second method (renaming and patching *.sb files with Notepad++), and it seems to work fine. At least it got me as far as  loading the game's main menu and running the built-in benchmark with no freezes or other glitches. Don't know about potential implications down the road, though. Here are the patched files for the Russian version, just drop them into your loctext directory, replacing the existing files:

I'll probably stick with the Outcome method for now, because it provides you with a "clean" English version without any modifications to in-game files that can be screwed up by future patches. But who knows, maybe the next patch will actually render Outcome useless... The good thing is, now we have two methods of restoring the original English text, which is alwasy better than just one :)

I think Outcome is a bit dodgy. You never know where the login and password information you type in there go after you press the Log In button. Also the second method is potentially better because it doesn't use third-party software and is less likely to cause any legal issues, but that's just my opinion :)

Damn looks like I shouldn't have asked for a refund. Anyway thanks a lot for this method, might be very useful in future.

One question though, is there any potential of Denuvo screwing things up?

Yeah, I see your point. On the other hand, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the second method, because it relies on the assumption that English and Russian/Polish text strings are handled by the game engine in exactly the same manner. I'd hate to run into some sort of conflict after a few hours (or a few dozen hours) of gameplay. Still, if it proves to be glitch-free throughout the entire game, it'll probably be superior to the Outcome method, because it's much easier to apply and does not involve using a third-party client. Anyway, hats off to Ilintar for figuring this out!

As I understand, Denuvo only keeps track of the executable, and we're screwing with what it executes, not the executable itself, so, no.

I second that motion. Is there a kind soul out there, willing to create patched files for polish version?

I used the no-Outcome fix and it works fine. I'm just really worried a patch will screw it up.

So sad we have to jump through hoops just to be able to enjoy the game in english. Can't we have this as an option EA, please?

Don't.  Simply put those  files somewhere safe,  and copy-paste them back in case some patch or update restores them 'as was'. Nice& easy. I'm glad that 'copy-paste' solution is viable after all.

Worst thing that can happen is that they make some changes to the game files thus breaking the mapping. Then we'll just have to obtain the en files again and patch them.

Umm, you might need new files after the patch, if it will modify them for all version. I think pl/ru version already rly has those files burried somewhere, so Outcome fix may still work? Even if not, I guess we'll manage. That's what forums are for, right? :)

In fact, both fixes rely on en.sb and en.toc files, so if those get updated by a future patch, we'll need to acquire new versions from someone with a proper English game. The difference is, when using the Outcome method, you'll just need to replace the files in the loctext directory. The other method will require re-patching them manually.

Yup, working as expected. The game checks the files, finds out that they've been tampered with, and downloads them again. Same thing happened with the ME3 fix. I would recommend turning off auto-updates in Origin if you are using this method. The Outcome fix seems to be safe from this, because en.sb and en.toc files are just ADDED to the loctext directory, without overwriting anything, and DragonAgeInquisition.par gets re-patched automatically every time you launch Outcome.

It is not really a big deal. I'm by no means an expert but potential patch should not corrupt my save files because of the language?

How many times should people repeat that it is not voice over that they want, but subtitles?.. <_<

No, that should not happen. 'corruption' usually occurs when save has a DLC which is not aouthorized ( for whatever reasons).

Language is but a setting, an option. Would you believe that your save might be corrupted because you've changed the brightness, volume or difficulty?  :)

Update: copied patched files again, and again everything works fine in english

Good! Then it's confirmed, that one can freely backup those files and simply copy them back (if need be).  That's unless they make an extra file-check or something. But that seems very unlikely to me. If they were determined to prevent us from changing the language THAT much, this topic would have been closed and deleted.

I would believe in many great things, especially when it concerns games.

Hopefully they won't, because polish subtitles cut fun in half.

I started my playthrough before the fix was discovered (huge thanks by the way). Any way to modify the save files in order to change my character's cyrillic name? Not that it matters much since it's barely used in the game outside of the inventory screen, but little inconsistencies like that bug me. I've tried editing the first line of the .das file which seems to be the only non-gibberish one containing the name, but it always results in "save is corrupted" messages.

Have you tried with Notepad or with a hex editor?
