Do you have the game patched to most recent version?  It asked you to replace files already in it, yes?

Yes

Do you have the game patched to most recent version? These files are only for after Patch 2. For me, they also work after recent hotfix.

Other than that, I see nothing that would preclude it from working, as the folder you put files into is the right one. It asked you to replace files already in it, yes?

Yes. The folder is Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\Data\Win32\loctext and original files was alreydy there and Win asked me to replace them.

Maybe i need to start game directly and not from Origin?

Try repairing the game's installation and replacing localisation files again. If that doesn't work, try the initial method of editing english files (can be found upwards in this thread) yourself. If that doesn't work either, try Outcome method.

Try launching game directly from *.exe file, not from origin, when it will ask you to log in - do as it asks, should work fine

EAWare still doesn't respond to the issue. How very unsurprising.

Hello,

I just purchased retail DA:I, Polish version. I installed it. I play on version 1.0.0.0 (I do not patch game because I don’t want to). I have English voiceover but polish text and subtitles. I want them to also be English.

Is this trick in first page still working and is it working with vanilla version (without patches)?

Also, is it save for my saves and other things? Is there any risk that it can damage something in-game?

Thank you all for answers!

Trick on the first page is working, and download link is for unpatched game. It should be safe for your savegames since it doesn't actually modify them. But in case your text gets broken if you do something wrong, just run "repair installation" from Origin and it'll restore the game. Might patch it though, so be sure to disable automatic patching.

Awesome! Thanks! :)

I have to say this- it is really lame not to include ENG versions of both text and voiceovers in game. With local ones. Just if some people prefer original or like english...

Can't belive how lazy game industry became...... In older times, I could choose up to 5 languages during installation of game. Even if not, on developer/publisher site there was files with different languages to download...

Just.... my god... When I was younger gamer I never thought that industry will become worse, not better in time. EA- you are worst.

It is really horrible. I have paid for this game 219zł (it is about 63 USD) but because of region lock I can't set english subtitles. Ridiculous

Since Datablitz PH weren't selling R1 copies of DAI I had to buy an asian copy of the game and it seems to me that I can't download any dlc, So is there anyway to download dlc with the asian version?

I bumped into the same issue - i can't play in Eng, Ru/Pl only... With that pricetag (I bought Deluxe Edition)? I ordered a refund. When they add option to play in Eng I'll consider re-bying the game. Such attitude makes you think twice before buying anything from EA, seriously. I was looking forward to playing DAI on holidays, but I won't tolerate such approach from publisher. Especially given the poor quality of Ru localization.

Why is there no official reply after 27 pages of posts on this? For how long do we have to apply third party solutions? This is ridiculus!

Just got a refund.

I'm not going to waste my time on walkarounds.. I want my game in English, just like Steam offers such courtesy.
Something has to change in the way EA treats people. This can't go on

This is really outrageous and a terrible business practice. Just because someone lives in X country doesn't mean they have to speak the language, and just because someone lives in certain places doesn't mean they want to experience the game in a crap half-assed localized version instead in the original, english one.

Developers and publishers sit down at their meeting tables, grabbing their heads and thinking how to fight piracy - and they decided the best way to do that is to screw over decent, honest customers over and over again so hard that they'll all rush to the torrent websites and overload their servers. That's really, really not the best plan, but that's what you're obviously trying to accomplish.

Simply allow us to choose the language version, this doesn't stop key reselling in the slightest - as long as people can modify game files there will be work arounds and all you do is make the purchase frustrating for your consumers. Don't offer worse products than illegal sources do, please.

I have to buy the game, and use cracks to get ORIGINAL functionality restored, this is beyond stupid.

One would think that EAWare would at least contact their EA overlords about it? Guess not...

The link to english text pack in OP doesn't work anymore. Is there any other download locations?

Edit: disregard that, have found them here. Many thanks to uploader.

I think the new patch has stopped this from working :( my game isn't showing any text at all. I've tried repairing and replacing the files again but that still hasn't fixed it. Anyone got a workaround?

Okaaay, I think I got it fixed.

Turns out there's a new loctext folder under ...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext. So you need appropriate fixed *.toc and *.sb files in both DA:I loctext folders. Fortunately, it seems that the new patch comes with the files for all languages.

The procedure is roughly as follows:

0. Apply the fix for patch 2 (the previous patch) just as it was done before (described somwhere earlier in this thread).

1. Move the original language files from the new patch to some safe location (for backup):
...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\XX.toc

...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\XX.sb

where XX stands for your language (possibly 'pl' or 'ru', I guess).

2. Make copies of the English files and rename them:

...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\en.toc -> ...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\XX.toc
...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\en.sb -> ...\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext\XX.sb

3. Open the newly copied files with a text editor (Notepad++ works just fine for this) and replace all occurrences of /en/ with /XX/ (/pl/ or /ru/).

That worked for me, for the Polish localized version.

Heya folks!

I had the same problem as all of you, but I used different solution, and the recent patch didn't break anything for me.

Here is the full story:

After I installed the game from Origin and found out that they only give the version with Russian text and English voice-overs (and I hate such hybrids: if they don't want to do a full localization, then it is better that they don't do it at all), I was infuriated and refused to play for around a month. A month have passed, but EA still didn't unlock full English version. Then I searched some pirate torrent trackers to see if they have the game. On one of them I have found the full international version with all the languages. I decided, since I bought the official deluxe edition anyway, it will be no crime to download a pirated version as well. So I downloaded a pirated deluxe edition and installed it right on top of my legally purchased Origins version. My anti-virus software immediately got me rid of the pirate crack that they use to run the game without Origin. When I tried to launch the game from Origin, it all worked, but I still didn't have the English version. Then I did a tricky thing. I launched the game directly from DragonAgeInquisition.exe file, which is located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition" folder on my PC. Origin started, then the game started to launch. And just before the game's window poped up, I closed the Origin. The game launched in English. And then the Origin automatically launched again. So I had what I desired. But that was not pretty handy. I have an SSD for my system disc, and Intel Core i7 3960X for my CPU, and EVGA GTX780 Classified for graphics, so I have only mere seconds to pull that all out. So I googled to see how other people deal with the problem. And I learned about Outcome. But before installing Outcome, I launched my Origin again, right-clicked on DAI and chose repair option, just in case if that pirate version I installed had more modifications to it than just the crack my anti-virus already removed. After repair was done, I installed Outcome and launched it, entering with my Origin account. It patched my game to run without Origin. I had some doubts about entering my EA login and password into 3rd-party software, but nobody has stolen my account so far. So, what I do now is: 1. Run Outcome, 2. Run the game from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" (I have a shortcut on my desktop for that), 3. When the game says "Click to continue", I alt-tab, run Origin, then alt-tab back to the game. It logs into EA servers just fine. And I had no issues ever since. No need to rename any files after each patch. And since you, folks, already have the necessary files, you don't even need to download any pirated version. It was just for English files. Outcome isn't necessary either. You can just pull out that tricky launch I described above. Hope this helps.

Cheers, folks!

P.S. Yeah, whenever I want to sych my saves with Origin Cloud, I have to run the game from Origin and choose local data, when prompted. I call it "manual synch". It doesn't synch on exit when I run the game without Origin, no matter if I use Outcome or not, even if Origin is launched just after the game.

Yes, it does. Unless you already have them, that is. I downloaded the full pirate version just for those files.

If you country didn't require a special version of the game you wouldn't have that problem.
