Wow, thank you very much!
From the file changed dates it looks like MAIN files are fresh (23 march) while PATCH ones are outdated (5 march). But for patch we have fresh versions for all languages in game folder. Maybe, we can use it.

Hello,
I lurked in this topic for a long time and am very grateful for the ideas shown here to swap subtitles ingame to english. I'm a polish resident and after getting the real deal I hit a brick wall that don't let me change language like most of any other games around.
Problem came just now with Jaws of Hakkon DLC. Of course I get the same thing but swapping provided files and modifying them inside swapping /en/ with /pl/ ends up with game not loading. Anyone got it working properly?

Those are not original en files but edited ones, so the "last changed" date is just the date that user edited them. Nothing to do with them being "fresh" or not.

Did you do the same with files inside loctext folder of DLC itself? I don't have it so can't check the exact path.

Yes, the path is smth like : \\updates\singleplayer_DLC1\data\win32\loctext\dlc1\
In it, you can see all the language files BUT all of them are different sizes. While swapping the files in normal data folder work and it provides english subtitles (some polish tho, but very few) it doesn't want to work on the DLC (Game won't start) and I end up with the game in english but everything about the DLC in polish.
This might get much more tricky than it was with the main game since for some reason the files seems somewhat different.

So you want subs in Polish? Then you doing it wrong.
If you want polish subs you need to open pl and pl.toc and rename all /pl/ to /en/
After that you need to move or delete any other lang files and change filenames from pl and pl.toc to en and en.toc.
Game may not load first time or it will be loading like 10 minutes but this is 100% working if done properly. DLC working same way I've just done It 10 minutes ago.
If you want english do the other way around. It just have to work.
Nope, still not working.
BUT gave me an idea. For some time I wasn't using outcome because "origin" somehow allowed things to work.
Just now I started it up with Outcome and after some tweaks it works, thx everyone ![]()
New patch 1.08, things broke again. If anyone has the new language files for english, I'd appreciate you uploading them. It looks like this time only base game language files are needed, as patch and DLC folders contain en.sb and en.toc each.
I second this request.
English files from Dragon Age Inquisition\Data\Win32\loctext are greatly needed after the latest patch.

Me too.
latest files have been posted on reddit
p.s. I find it odd that on my ru.toc it says that it has been edited on 14 April. I have deleted and repaired language files recently (AFTER that date), so it's definitely the original but the date is earlier (it's ok, lots of game files are like that). But on en.toc from the link above the date is still 02 December. Like, why.

Strange, yes, but these files are working fine for me. At least text is visible ![]()
No offense, but is it a problem to purchase the game on services like Kinguin or G2A?
EDIT: I understand that purchasing it on Origin is more convenient. The suggestion above is a way around, as an option to modifying files.

I will certainly do it with next BioWare game.

Well, if it's showing texts then it works, there's no less or more to that
Now I'm a happy mabari pup who can finally understand what it reads *happy bark*

Ah, if only I knew about these services earlier. Do they ever have sales? I considered myself lucky to get all three games plus JoH, all DAO DLCs and a bunch of in-game items at the price of just DAI + JoH when everything was on sale in Origin. Switching a few existing files and getting one en.toc missing in my version isn't such a big trouble. Unless someday I'd want to play DAI with voiceover in a language I don't know, like French or German. Until then, this'll do.

Well, who knew? English was promised, as I recall, for all countries. And since there's no my country's official language available at all, it's strange to be limited to Russian/Polish. Next time will certainly take this strange logic into account and go for G2A
(Okay, I admit, I'm stupid). ![]()
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but when I edit the files from Reddit and place them in "Data/Win32/loctext" folder the game won't load. It also looks like some files in Update/Patch/Data/Win32/loctext" should be replaced too, but I'm not sure which of the links posted in this thread to use... It's been some time since I last played the game.(Okay, I admit, I'm stupid).
what exactly do you do when you "edit" those files?
basically, what must be done is:
1. rename your language file from LANG.toc and LANG.sb to oldLANG.* (or some other name)
2. download and install notepad++
3. open english files with notepad++, search and replace text /en/ with /LANG/
4. save as LANG.toc and LANG.sb (don't rewrite English file! save as if it's your old lang file).
LANG is your language. it may be pl, ru or whatever is supported in the game.
ideally this must be done in all of 5 folders mentioned below ( if you don't have some DLCs then you won't have some of those folders).
also, I'll try to explain what goes where. there are two links on reddit.
first one has replacement files for Data/Win32/loctext files.
second one I posted just in case, but normally you don't need to download this to switch languages as your game already has them.
what you find there is English texts for
Update\Multiplayer_DLC1\Data\Win32\loctext\mp1 (Multiplayer DLC)
Update\Multiplayer_DLC2\Data\Win32\loctext\mp2 (Dragonslayer MP DLC)
Update\Patch\Data\Win32\loctext (everything patch realted)
Update\Singleplayer_DLC1\Data\Win32\loctext\dlc1 (Jaws of Hakkon texts)
but as I said, normally you don't need to download these. check those folders - they should have all language files in them. you just need to do steps 1-4.
p.s. me writing long instructions like it's nothing yeeaaahs ![]()
Hey so I have grabbed two eng files and I was told to rename it to pl (I want polish to english) , then to go into it and replace all /en/ with /pl/. I have done this but all my text doesn't appear and also there is some polish text but not much. Help?! ![]()
Behold the thread necromancy!
I'm sorry, I just suddenly wondered if anyone knows how did they actually translate "the Dread Wolf" in russian. Please don't tell me it's "Страшный Волк"
Oh lol
I think it was "Ужасный Волк" ![]()
Omg hahaha, that's just as bad!
Poor Solas ![]()
Awwww. ![]()
Honestly, at this point I'm relieved I went and purchased a US version. A Russian translation would've been unbearable, if hilarious.
