Just to clear things up, I got a reply from Derek French regarding this. Won't quote in case he wants to make a more detailed reply in this thread himself (and I didn't want to bother him further asking if he'd mind the quote etc) but the short answer is no, unfortunately although they wanted it very much to happen in the end the Polish/Russian edition of the game won't have the English text included in it.

Yes I too have answer from him and we really don't have EN text. (

Why it is so - I don't know but it seems if you want to play good EA game in Russia it is simplier to use PirateBay and not buy from developer. (

I think it`s more on EA side of things, most likely they decide the region restriction policies, not Bioware. Maybe they could include the texts/vo like an additional download in Origins, language packs? I mean, yeah, we`ll find a way, but while other people celebrate the release date and play the hell out of the game, I`ll have to wait for someone to upload texts. ("First world problems", i know, still frustrating)

So in order to properly play the game we will have to wait till somebody leaks English subtitle texts in the internet?

What the hell?

lol.

It's been years since I last played a pirated game. I don't do it since games started to be relatively less expensive and I started to earn my own money. It's just so much easier to simply buy a game and play it then to bother with pirated copies. It would be really strange if I had to go back to the not so good old times not because of money, but only because "although I wanted it very much to happen in the end" I won't  have an option to buy the game normally, as the distributor decides not to sell it to me. Really? In second decade of XXIst century? It would be funny if it weren't so stupid. Oh well... "choice and consequences" ;)

I will wait and check, but I guess the DVD in retail stores will have the same restriction.

Yes. You can also install polish texts, if you like.

DA:3 will be available in original, full-on, English version on the Internet for download free by 20 November.

It will be available for free download as the original version on 17 Novermber via Dark Webs.

So I am told by people who would know. And, bonus, they're DRM free. You will actually own the game not merely the license.

Plus one on this, guys. I want english badly and in case nothing happens today / tomorrow, will buy a global edition, but it sounds so stupid. Why can't I play the game I love in it's ORIGINAL language? I don't want a "Новая игра", I want "New game". I've even changed the Keep language because I had no clue about all the stuff in Russian.

@Pen-N-Paper

The thing is it's neither Allan's nor Derek's job to communicate with us, answer questions etc. It's more like their good will combined with some amount of free time.

not forum moderator or community support.

bring some Justice into this world.

That is my point. Here is a Bioware forum labelled FEEDBACK & SUGGESTIONS (LOL) and there is no one officially listening. It's like being handed a bar of saop and told to follow the line into the showers..... It is insulting to us. I am not blaming specific people who are taking their time to help out but where is the official voice of this forum? (Besides moderating the ban/lock topic hammer I mean).

An opinion of what might happen is not an official response; good intentions or not.

Also, Justice was in Awakenings.....

I've got an urge to write some bad-bad thread in a 'scuttlebutt', that involves 'promises' anв 'preorder'.  But I know they are going to lock it asap anyway.

Damn EA!..

So you are going to blast EA in a Bioware topic.... that does not make sense.    I mean, go ahead. It is not like anyone from Bioware is listening anyways.  Your topic might get locked though. You might get banned. But that's not listening, In My Honest Opinion. IMHO, that is the opposite of listening

I've already arranged everything and will probably receive the English text by today or tomorrow. That's some solace.

The only problem here is that DA:I multiplayer seems absolutely awesome and I don't want to miss out on it. So I have to buy the game in any case.

I am sorry for being woefully ignorant, but what is Dark Webs and what does DRM free mean?

Nope, I was simply that much frustrated. I still am, but I know that getting banned on a forum won't give me my English texts.

I wonder, what other countries are affected by this...thing? Do they cut the English from let's say Japanese version?

@Ashen nedra Loos like someone needs to cook one's hat well! How would you prefer it? Hard-boiled with salt, onions and garlic, may be? Deep fried? Sweetened with honey and sprinkled with some cinnamon?  ;)

My friends!

Kindly provided by one of our European comrades from France under the nickname MarzipanEnthusiast, here's the link to a complete pre-loaded English DA:I

https://www.dropbox....CGcv5NQ05a?dl=0

The files we're interested in are located by the following path:

\Data\Win32\loctext\

There are two en files there that you probably need to swap with two ru files in your respective folder. I'm not certain if anything else needs to be changed in order to have a full English game. We'll found out on Monday.

Thanks, Arthmost! And thanks to your friend MarzipanEnthusiast.

Hopefully that will be enough to change the language.

less then 50kb total size? Can't be! Too little for a game like that. e.g ME2 tlk is ~2mb.

Are there more 'ru' files in our copy? Like in 'locfacefx' may be?

Those are animations. As I said, I'm not entirely sure yet. I just followed common sense and went into the most obvious folder.

or may be not.  the size of those 'loctext' files are too small anyway. Also, it says 'win 32', I assume a friend of yours had a 32bit system?

I think someone should compare rest of the toc and sb  files with the Russian copy. They could store different text in different places this time. Anything that is different in size is very likely to be different in language too.

To Nrieh -  I knew you would mock me...I just knew it. I'll have some Russian friends cook it to keep in character with the thread, unless you would like to suggest a personal recipe.

Seriously, I'm usually pretty good at deciphering complex information, incomplete statements and so forth.  In fact, it could be described as my job.  So, I would describe the communication around this issue as really, really misleading.  There was a problem with Russia and Poland since the start (ergo the international version being sold in Russia's stores at a higher price, which is kind or ridiculous) and they didn't want to communicate on it.

See you for supper.

I like White Russians so ok...

I'm really annoyed buy all these new kind of IP-locked bullshits.  Since I started thinking about the language problem in DAI and posting on this thread, I noticed that it's everywhere right now: news-feeds, Google, on line stores, even GOG is in French for me now, making me wonder all over again if I will run into the same problem/guessing game again for other games...  seems VPN/Mexico will become necessary now.

Anyway, you have all my support on this.

It's not ridiculous. It's market segmentation. It's a practice beneficial for the manufacturer/distributor at the expense of consumers in general, but at least you did have a choice. Now, there is none.

I do not expect Bioware/EA marketing strategy to be benevolent. It's business. But this decision seems ridiculous or just sloppy. Certainly I do not posses all the info behind it, maybe there is some reason, but for now it seams like:

- Hey, do you think that on the markets with more then 150 mln people between them there will be someone interested in buying the original version?

- Nah, screw them.

The problem is, also, that in russian Origin it costs an equivalent of 50/60 USD, with exchange rate from the date DAI went on preorder. Yet it's restricted.
